- I kind of knew the Bandai Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts Star Wars Count Dooku was going to be off just going by the promotional images, but getting it in-hand.....it's off. Paint is off, sculpt is off, articulation is dated. I'm happy to have a Count Dooku on the shelf but it could be way better, as much as I hate to say that.

Dooku wears brown in RotS, but it's much darker than this. Like you said, a darker colour might have made this a bit more cohesive. I never noticed that he's basically wearing Imperial officer garb until you pointed it out. At least this guy can act as a stand-in on your shelf until Hasbro makes a Dooku... did I just say that?

It's frustrating to pay up front for exclusive figures like this and not get the worth you paid for.
Don’t be afraid to be honest Robo! This figure definitely isn’t worth the asking price. SHF messed up this time, but they’ll hopefully move forward and keep getting better and better

Ok so I purchased this figure and was depressed with the negative reviews. However after having opened this figure I must protest. I find my copy to be flawless.
Wow, one of the first human figuarts I've ever seen and thought "yeah I'll wait for the black series"
Hope we get a Hasbro Black Series version soon. They have been on a Episode 1 kick last couple of Waves.
He should be taller than Anakin. The actor was 6’5”

Great review as always, buddy! So sad to see that there are several missed opportunities on this one. Saw your pic on insta where you painted the robes. It already looked much better. Now I am waiting for a pic with him reassembled. Lol I’m sure that will make it appear/display better. The head sculpt/print did definitely fall short, but hopefully Hasbro will have a go at him as well and will issue a great head sculpt that can be swapped. 🤷♂️
The black looks much better. Giving the cape a wet treatment now, waiting for that to dry. He's still off but it's less painful on the shelf, until something better comes along, hah.

Cancelled my pre-order based off this review. For the price BBTS was asking, I'm not too sad about it. Hopefully we get a Dooku announcement from Hasbro at SDCC.
Dooku is now revealed! Now we just need better pictures to see if he's good or not...

I was sooooo hyped for this figure, you could even say that “I’ve been looking forward to this!” (I’m sorry) I have this waiting at home and have no rush to open it haha. Amazing review but, man, what a disappointing figure. 🙁

Awsome Action Figure review
Got mine Yesterday. Wetted the Cape to make drape over the body a bit better. Improves it with a bit. Face imo is pretty spot on. I think the plastic actually feels really nice on the figure and all the articulation is nice and smooth. But yeah, the light tunic colour really throws the whole figure off. Waiting to see Robos repaint to see how much that improves it.

Never apolgise for being honest Sir Robo ! You make honest reviews & pay attention to what counts (pun intended) - to both you & your fellow collectors. My SHF Dooku arrives this week (+ my SHF War Machine Mk4), so while looking forward to it I am already disappointed. I know when I pre-order an exclusive these days it's a gamble of sorts, which it shouldn't be - the Bandai SHF "Exclusives" SHOULD be their best work ! I have bets on the inevitable Black Series Dooku being several steps up from this one, given Hasbro have REALLY improved their game !
Hasbro still has a long way to go despite their improvements. Mace and Padme were not 100% there.

I’m going to do black contrast paint up above and the dark brown contrast on the legs. Custom head too.
It's not bad to be negative when you are making a review. You are supposed to point the pros and cons, nothing wrong with that. It may get subjective at some parts, yes, but you are not wrong either and you actually show pictures and make comparisons with other stuff to prove your points. Good review as always.
Sadly I jumped onto this too and I was hesitating even when pulling the trigger. That said, the face looks better than I was expecting, although possibly the subtlest 'alt' face I've ever seen (it's not even looking to the side - what's all that about!?).
Defo with you on the repaint too, and as the heads are so similar, I may give one of them a repaint too. Lots of work for an expensive import figure!

Or the reverse of that, the collectors who think Bandai can do no wrong and Hasbro makes cheap crap. The age old "Playstation/XBox" "Ford/Chevy" "My political party is better than yours for ....reasons" bullshit.
Oh of course, that wasn't why I said that. I think this figure is average as hell, especially for a web exclusive. And I do agree Bandai fucks up at times like IW Captain America, Iron Spider or Winter Soldier.
But there really is a bias towards Hasbro and tendency to shit on imports on RUclips or reddit and I can't act like it doesn't exist.

Its because for example; this bandai is over price as hell at nearly 100$, and if you buy them both yourself, its not even as GOOD as the 20$ black series dooku lol, just compare em yourself. Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of bandai figures, but sometimes this is just NOT their strong suit.
Mafex is 3 figures away from their 100th figure solicited. They’ll want to make something special. Surely a Count Dooku will be the 100th.
They haven't made a Star Wars figure in a long while, which is a shame after they absolutely killed with Boba Fett.

Very nice of you on a Count Dooku figure I wish I could see the people when you said Lorne Greene how many people who probably did not know who he was so I guess you probably didn't like the figure
Admittedly he does wear brown in ROTS but the shade of brown should still be a bit darker than this figure.

Yup, painted it black, which I guess makes it more animated series inspired, but with the Black Series as my main I'm good with that. Also replaced the head and cape, haha.
Hasbro is making a Black Series Count Dooku luckily, UPC's have leaked online, not sure if you've seen them yet, but Yak Face I think has posted them on Instagram 👍

I don't get Christopher Lee vibes, and yeah, I wouldn't pay S.H. Figuarts prices for this.
In all honesty I don't mind the gripes you have with this figure or any figure. I know some people take it as coming off negative but it's hard not to say negative things about something that should've been better. Being an import company at a higher price point it not gripes that aren't justified for the money you have to spend on the figure. I love Count Dooku and I've been wanting a good figure of him, but I can easily just as say that the amount of wrongs with this figure that this is not a good figure. It's unfortunate but hopefully they take another shot at it or Black Seires will do Dooku some justice. Thanks for the review Robo!

Glad I stick with the original trilogy figures. The sculpt looked much better in the proto pics. I guess most figure lines suffer that from time to time. Great review Robo!!
@@lonewolfmcquade8879 Maybe. Probably the paint app more than sculpt. SHF is my favorite, most consistent fugure line; but still have their hiccups. This is one of them. I'll stick with their OT figures. Better for my wallet, anyway.
@@lonewolfmcquade8879 Feel your pain. I recently inherited a sewing machine and I'm currently experimenting with making my own wired softgoods capes etc. Starting with a proper 1/12 Vader cape with black chain. Wish me luck!

I definitely agree about the face on Dooku. To me maybe it's the length of the face. Christopher Lee has kind of a longer face and very prominent nose. It's very stern. Maybe with an expression it would've looked better. I really like the cape though and I think the overall figure is pretty nice. As far as Robo "complaining" I'm fine with that. It's a review and I appreciate the honesty. I'd rather have a lot of complaints instead of blind approval.
Wow. Now that's a lackluster figure from Figuarts. And to add insult to injury, this was an exclusive! Ugh, I agree..... that figure could've used more texturing on the entire body.

This is supposed to be P-Bandai?? I don’t want to be that guy but I’m glad I didn’t pick this up. EPII Anakin and Padme were well worth the trouble trying to get but this figure stayed in the prototype stage and didn’t get worked on at all.
Nothing wrong with an honest review. Not like your slinging mud or saying don't buy this. The figure needs work. I think paint and some wire in the cape would do it. The likeness doesn't look that far off to me.

I was bummed when this got announced as an exclusive. Watching this, I'm not going to say this sucks, it doesn't, but I am feeling a lot more okay with not having it after seeing this.
Echoing others in saying, I'll wait on a Black series figure, though I dunno if Lee being long dead will impact the photo-real process. I imagine they have plenty of footage of him to get a proper likeness, even if they can no longer scan him.
Well, Gus looks much better on Dookus body than Dooku. The uniform needs a wash or something, reminds me of a bootleg. Still enjoyed hearing Robo , at least you were honest with us👍

I have a feeling they will wait for the EPII 40th anniversary, even though they haven't stuck strictly to EPI for that 40th.
It’s not a brand new Anakin, it’s an archive same figure rerelease with updated face print but exact same sculpt.
