Amazing diorama. I actually think the yellow you added to give the look of dead patches of grass among the green looked very natural and didn't detract from the overall look. I fondly remember painting my Advanced Dungeons and Dragons lead miniatures back in the early 80's, but I was never the artist with paint that you are.

If you want a plausible historical reason for the combat, the Normans (knights and Vikings) fight against Imperial forces (Templars and Swiss) somewhere in Italy for dragon bones. It may also be that instead of Imperials they are troops from the Papal States

I'm curious as to why you use BLACK 3.0/4.0 for your trim paint. It's seems rather extravagant for such a minor detail. I understand it's properties and why artists use it. But it's SO expensive. There are plenty of flat blacks on the market that every flat and "non reflective". So what's so unique about that product

Reapers Bones is like a alternative miniatures line of the standard Reaper miniatures line.
the Reapers Bones line generally having a little more detail but being a bit more expensive than the regular Reaper miniatures line.
Reaper Bones are not strictly miniatures of bones, it is just the name of the alternative line :)

Awesome diorama Boylei! Love dragons and this Weird Imaginary Dark Age style diorama was great.
A question though. Why could this medieval dragon fight not be a medieval period from before the Weird Imaginary West?
It could be that there were dragon monsters in Europe in old times. It would fit interestingly into the Weird Imaginary West, possibly even give some Weird Imaginary Dark Ages ideas.
But that's just my opinion, you keep doing you, it is still awesome!

You know what I’d think would make those final shots of the complete project (any spooky project like the soldiers in snake infested swamp) would be to spray water gently upon the diorama. When taking the shot, the mist add more spookiness ? This is only my very inexperienced mind thinking , so if it’s stupid it’s fine😅

English dandies may be concermed with appearances but those Vikings know the true value of dragon bones. When (not if) they get those bones back to their village they're going to start making all kinds of magic talismans, armor and weapons out of them. Dragon bone powder added to steel? Imagine the possibilities!

Kinda disappointed that when you make the dioramas especially the skeleton ones you dont play more with what got them there.
Dragons in legends usually either live really long or are straight up immortal. What if the dragon had bite/slash shaped chunks of bone missing cuz some even more apex predator was hunting it ? Gives the diorama that much more depth in my opinion.
Or just the beasts and cryptids having wear and tear in general .Animals that get that freakishly big did so by surviving many deadly encounters. With both humans and other monsters.

I love these videos. I wish I had the time and the talent to do things like this. I really like the alternative western themed videos.
I’ve always thought it would be really cool to do some type of “Mad Max” themed dioramas or something like that, in the same way the western town was built. I’m sure there’s plenty of different ideas that could come with a post apocalyptic type setting in that genre.
Not that my suggestion means anything…just an idea of what I’d like to learn how to do. 🤷🏻‍♂️

0:45 Watching this made me wonder what you do with the leftover bones you don’t use in your dioramas (in this case the leftover dragon bones) but then I got to thinking you should do a Texas style shoot out battle in a canyon filled with many different fossils!
Maybe even add a bipedal, gun-slinging, intelligent raccoon that wants the bones to sell off and get some food into the mix (like there are some creatures who want to live among humans peacefully, but those ones are few and rare; don’t know, just thought of it as a neat idea that you could implement into your wild imaginary west, but that’s up to you) of the battle!

  • @inoroth2001
    @inoroth2001 3 месяца назад

Personal Headcanon; this is the same universe as the Wild Imaginary West, just earlier in time... and this skeleton isn't actually of a true dragon, it's a still-living bone dragon who hunts by mimicking the carcasses of it's more fleshy cousins. Bone dragons lure in unsuspecting trophy-hunting humans and once their greed causes them to kill eachother fighting over the bones, it stands up and finishes off the survivors, feasting on their soul energy before once again lying down in the dust, slumbering for long enough that the bodies of their prey turn to bones and rust and look like they were what killed the dragon, lowering suspicions of future opportunists who stumble upon the remains later, repeating the cycle.
Clearly this is a young bone dragon, or maybe a displaced one, as it's lair isn't yet full of the bones of earlier armies who shared the same fate as the one currently fighting overtop of it will soon meet.

  • @OzarkForrest

Not sure if you know this or not, but the Bones label on the box is a product name by Reaper Minis. They came up with a plastic recipe that they started using for casting their minis. Hence they needed a new product name, and for whatever reason, they went with Bones.
