Ya know, I've never watched anything Yu-Gi-Oh related, nor am I familiar with the manga. I first learned the plot 2 years ago. But hearing this song feels so nostalgic. It's like I'm a Yugi's grandpa, I feel so old.

I really don't get it especially because Yugi doesn't even know that Yami exists in Season 0, least not until it the end and even then, it never went anywhere. He likes Anzu and there's a strong indication in DSOD movie they are indeed dating.
That's the issue, it's almost as if this series isn't cannon. After episode 27 Yu-Gi-Oh was picked up by another animation studio and remade the entire thing.

Actually Yami-Yugi and Yami are gay. I don't know about all the other characters but Puzzleshipping is actually cannon. In the original anime Yugi calls Yami "Mou hitroi no boku" which means " other me" which doesn't really seem like it means a lot but when you also put in consideration that Yami calls Yugi "Aibou" directly translates to "partner" and in Japan they use "aibou" more as a "gay/sexual partner" then it changes a lot. I'm not really the best person to explain this but someone has to do it.
