Great presentation. However, I thought FCMB is a tier 2 bank, and so as per CBN directives, they only need to attain 200B in their recapitalization exercise and not 500B being a national bank. I guess that's why they want to raise around 110B.
The amount they need to raise is not by Tier, it's by the type of license they have and wish to maintain post consolidation. FCMB has an international licence hence need to raise 500 Billion. If you read their prospectus and watch their facts behind the offer you will see how they plan to raise the remaining funds. I talked about some of them in this video.
Fidelity is a good buy but I feel like it's a lot easy for them to change into a national bank cos they have only 1 foreign subsidiary. They could easily sell it off and continue as a National bank
Why but? What is the significance to the investor between a global and a national bank? Please share. I have been thinking about this but haven't been able to come up with anything.

I just feel they might not be so particular about retaining the international banking license since they have just 1 international subsidiary compared to other tier 1 banks with several subsidiaries. Then ofcourse, more subsidiaries should mean more profit. If there's a shock in one of the countries like Ghana, a subsidiary in Sierra Leone or anywhere else could help absorb it.
