Laffy Taffy make the entire game span multiple generations. Would open up permadeath for Lords, and make inheritance a thing. You know what? Just add in as many CK2 features as possible.
Why Name? That would be insanely good, imagine your best ally has a son who hates your son meaning that when he takes power they might go from an ally to an instant enemy
Ageing is an interesting concept for these game only if they have a system for creating a new generation of descendants from your original character, but either way the longest Warband save i currently have right now is only about 700-800 days so its not like I'm in a seniors home so time would have to go by a bit faster to make a system like that useful.
Ageing is already a feature in Warband, albeit it makes no actual difference. When you have a really old save your character's age very slowly goes up, but you can just move the slider back down.
0:52 No, it's nowhere near realistic. I have no problem with it in games at all, but don't misinform people. Swords can't cut through people, they can chop off limbs, sure, but they lose the vast majority of their momentum in doing so. The reason two handed sword historical fighting styles included wide side sweeps was to keep multiple enemies at bay, because they knew that one of them would get hit and they didn't want to be the ones to die.
Well it is possible for some swords to cut through sparsely armoured enemies for an example the Turkish Kilij sword is made so that the blade has a slight bend and the upper end is much heavier allowing for much stronger slashes which can for an example cut through multiple pigs bodies, but these are rare types of swords and require the opponent to wear less armour. As for most two handed blades from what I know Claymores and Zweihanders were primarily used in the vanguard in order to break pike formations as the momentum and continuing swing of the blades allowed for a relatively safe distance while cutting through pikes to break them, they were rarely used in close quarters combat as the density of people allowed for far less movement, it's the similar reason as to why spears were mostly used in formations rather then one on one combat. Close quarters combat is the main reason we see many Swords around the world being multi-functioned to allow for single handed wielding but also double handed wielding or simply one handed. But I do agree that especially in a combat situation it would be very unlikely to see you cut through multiple opponents with a single swing. Perhaps if you perfectly aim for the neck of a largely unarmoured opponent and the swing reaches another person eventhough it would likely be non-lethal for the second victim unless you manage to perfectly land what is left o your momentum on his neck as well.
It may be possible to cut throug a person. But even with a sword that is optimised for cutting, i doubt this happend often in a battle. Even without protection it is really difficult. Swordmaster are training theyre cutting ability by cutting tatami mats. This is quite difficult and even trained swordsman often fail it to cut throug the mats. And this is not quite as difficult as to cut throug a whole person. (Sorry for bad English).
i've watched like 20 vidz on mb2 all trying to give new information and i still managed to get a few new stuff from this video, that means 95% of people who don't spend 20 hours a day searching on info for bannerlord are going to find at least ''something'' new, which means,as it might not for you,for the majority,it does contain new information. and just so you know i check the steam group every single day.
New information for *you*, then. I was simply pointing out to others, and yourself, this is not new information on Bannerlord. Don't get salty because I point factually correct stuff out.
I now realise that the "hitting multiple people" is not realistic I cant get everything correct and to be honest as much as I appreciate historical accuracy its not relevant at all in thus situation as realism has nothing to do with the actual game mechanic [Which is what that section of the video is about] .That being said i understand why this can annoy people and I can only apologise
Lord Ironhawk Multiplayer could work through the stop and start button. One player controls it and chooses when the game stops or starts. If either of the players gets into a fight, the players joining could choose which AI character/troop to control that is in the party and then once the battle is over they both go back to their parties. This way the time mechanic wouldn't be completely broken
I'd like to share something. It is historically accurate for cavalry with curved swords to 'cut' multiple enemies with one swing or simply extending the arm letting the blade run past people using the horses momentum and stiffness of the arm to deliver minor draw cuts. This is only intended to cut people not outright kill, cutting cloths, and flesh is a good way for dirt to get into wounds and cause infection. With the intention of killing via attrition. This also to be the reason why some curved swords had serrated edges as they would tear clothes and skin such as in methods of sharpening the 1796 Light cavalry sabre. Also the rider is able to keep his balance on the horse as he rides past as there is not much impact to pull him off the horse. Arrows were largely used in similar ways (as a tool to cause infection) as the evolution of armor vs arrows usually favored armor.
I would rather prefer the developers to rework polearms into how they were in Fire&Sword (or something even better): to get close to a person with a pointy stick in front, one should either flank them or have a shield.
Well, technically a lot of sword cuts are supposed to be surface cuts, which aren't too deep, and don't reduce the momentum of the cut too greatly. Really they should make it so that the damage is far less on the second target, and the more damage you do on the first target (a more deep cut which will catch bone or armour more, reducing momentum) the less you damage you do on the second target.
TheAsj97 Oh yeah that is completely wrong. I more meant from taleworlds standpoint, perhaps it even does something similar to what I said, and is only handy for taking little bits off of the other combatants.
Fubarecognition Honestly, I don't care about what Taleworlds does because Mound and Blade was never supposed to be 100% realistic, as long as it's fun it's fine, and Taleworlds are a 10/10 dev and I've no doubt they'll make it work, my problem was with him saying it was realistic.
I cant get everything correct, to be honest don't think this is relevant at all as realism has nothing to do with the game mechanic. That beig said i will add an annotation as you are correct :D

Lord Ironhawk what about marriage.... in warband you can marry a lord's daughter or sister and nothing will happen... nothing change about the world around you . will bannerlord have marriage? will marriage be political gains to get money or land (cities or towns)...marriage can be use make power alliance that help you when you are in trouble.. Marriages make a huge changes in bannerlord what if that lord has brother and he also has a army that willingly help you....what if the influence points are lowered because you are family to that lord or there are no pionts.. there so many possible that marriage can change the way players played mount and blade bannerlord.
I had this idea too when playing total war. that you are the general of your troops. like how you can set up your troops formation etc. but you're also in the battle yourself. now bannerlord is making this interesting!
Skylingale noob, won't be the first time a great game was screwed, losing all the great features, in Version 2. Depends if same developers work on both games.
i dont seem to see anyone touch upon the fact that in the gameplay video at 9:42 when they're in the parley screen (not shown in the clip taken) you can see avaliable under items many different horses, which means you will probably have to have horses avaliable for your cavalry to use, which explains the stables avaliable to build in towns. i think this is neat because it can mean that Villages will be very useful in providing for your army.
The 2h reworking would make it so going without a shield is more worthwhile. I've run a two hander, the biggest disadvantage is you have to manually block everything, which is almost impossible when you get swarmed. Plus with no shield, you can't block arrows. But at least this new overhaul will make you a nightmare in a giant crowd.
Don't listen to the people giving you a hard time over small things. This video was awesome great quality I was shocked at how low your sub count was. You gained a new one today though 👍
if ageing is a thing in bannerlord add a family mechanic so when your character becomes very old or dies either of age or in combat (maybe have a difficulty setting that has a chance of your character dying in combat or in events) so you play as your child. if they are little have time speed up years into the future until they come of age and see how the world changed since your first characters death
I love the idea of building your own castle in your fief. This reminds me of the Manor option and build castle with improvements that are available in the 1257 Mod. That is one of the things I love the most about that mod. My question would be, can you have more than one castle when you have multiple fiefs? Also there are several different kinds of castles and upgrades in 1257 depending on the geographic/cultural area. It would be cool if there were different kinds of tailorable and upgradable castles in Bannerlord.
I believed i heard in one of the official videos from the team that every fief is able to make one castle, but at a great cost ofc. Agreed on the different type of castles suggestion, would be neat. They will most definitely vary depending on culture/faction though
the 'morale each day' bit is the amount of morale villagers lose / gain each day from having to construct fief improvements and serving in the militia, not the village making morale for your army
An awesome feature would be kill moves. Like, if you shoot an arrow at a persons head, it slow's down the battle and has a first person view of the arrow hitting the head or the chest. Also the humorus ability to throw your weapon to damage the enemy. That would be kinda funny honestly.
I think the idea of the declining Calradic Empire being divided into sub-empires is supposed to hint at Rome and how it was split into the East and West.
I remember in a commentary demo that one of the devs said that you can capture a lord and execute him. It's a nice idea but at the same time, if the enemy faction can't recruit anymore lords its really bad
I was wondering. Do you reckon that, depending on how you upgrade your fief, there will be a larger target on some settlements? As in, a village producing iron for weapons would be targeted first and a village producing flax last. I say this because in Warband, enemy parties would just raid everything they could find, but realistically an army would raid somewhere of strategic importance, this could also introduce another concept, that the bigger a target you are for the enemy the more "Militia" you produce in that settlement. It could also have an effect on the fiefs morale and if it affects how often they are raided it will affect how rich you will be.
If you upgrade a village to a castle, do you think there will be even more upgrade options like blacksmith, keep or even an upgrade to turn the castle into a city? I think that would be awesome!
The new barter system with influence is going to be fucking SWEET! P.S: That music with it IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD! I loved that little bit! Town, village, fighting. Mmmmmmm!
I think it would be realistic and a good addition to the game to add "stamina" to a player's abilities. This would cut down on spamming, especially of two handed weapons. Swinging a heavy weapon repeatedly and quite frequently should reduce the power of the swing over time due to the limit of one's strength.
The damage on more than one person will be awesome for mods where you want to play as overpowered heroes, like the Troy mod where you get to play as Achilles. It will be an awesome feature that can open up for many more mods.
Your version of "realistic" mayyy be a little bit flawed... Cutting through enemies? You realise that even many headsmen were unable to sever heads in the first chop. How the heck are people going to be able to cut through armored torsos, if even under ideal conditions it's difficult to cut through even a bare neck? I'm not disliking the gameplay feature, it's just not "realistic" however it can still be fun.
It would be reeealy cool if they included realistic armors, like cutting through plates would be impossible and u would have to use different weapon for a different types of armor.
Tholfend They kind of had the element of that in Warband. Piercing was very effective against armor, and so was blunt, but blunt did not have as much damage potential in general. Cutting caused the least damage against thick armor. So you would get very different results from the use of: Sword, lance/military pick, or mace.
Fief Development! WAAAAA! Gimme Bannerlord NOW! I Don't Care How Much! x) One more thing, we'd love to customize the equipments (idc if it's just visuals) of our Soldiers (per type ofc). To increase sandbox immersion ;). If it's not already there.
I have to say, swinging a sword threw one opponant and into another is less than unrealistic. Unless you slice with just the tip of your sword shallowly across their chest, then you could then keep the swing going into someone else, otherwise you'd need to have an extremely strong sword and be an Orc who has gone threw the Trial of Grasses.
Sorry to bump in Ironhawk, but hitting multiple enemies at once isn't realistic. A blow that cuts threw an entire person was extremely rare, cause it required a perfect hit from a very strong fighter - and even if someone manages to do that, the second one they hit, would AT THE MOST recieve a slight cut, barely going threw the skin. It is possible that if you pierce someone with a spear, and another one is for some reason running at full speed behind that one - he could be killed by impaling himself on the outsticking part of the spear, but all the momentum comes from the victim, the swing ( or in this case stab) uses up all his momentum on the first target.
Realistic??? Defenitely not! Ecspecially if they wear any kind of protection. The Mount and Blade fighting system is the system i like most, but hitting multiple enemys with one swing is not the feature i was missing. It lacks some importang things to make the fighting system more realistic and bether for teamwork. For example: Cover yourself with a shild while you are striking. One of the big advantages of a shild is exactly that. If they would implement that feature, shieldwalls would finally really make sense...
They don't have to implement a semi-realistic armor system to balance the game to such mechanics (or techniques, if you want to call it that way). By raising the damage resistance of the armors in the game adequately, the devs can simulate a semi-realistic armor (without the system itself) and still retain the simplicity of the game. That would make cutting weapons less effective, but piercing weapons like one-handed spears, and blunt weapons, such as maces, will have more use in the game, especially against heavy units. As far as I have observed, there are mods that have pulled it off quite well, retaining the balance of the game through altering armor and weapons stats. As far as mordhau or half-swording are concerned, there is already a switch weapon mode mechanic in M&B, which is not widely-used for players and units that don't use lances and throwing weapons. They can implement that in selected weapons, retain the animations, change the damage type, attack speed, of the weapon. In case they really don't have the time, then that's when the modders come in.
Do you know how badass a Napoleonic wars DLC for bannerlord would be? Especially with the improved ai command functions (like making them face any direction) and graphics. It doesn't have to be the Napoleonic wars specifically, but in the general time frame would be kick ass
you use the word "now" a lot... now continue, good video ;) also i think the map size is about the top down map so you can create cool game of thrones size maps without issues
I feel like hitting a second enemy would be possible realistically, but it would do alot less damage. Momentum is a factor, and the first hit would definitely take most of it, but I think it'd still be possible to put a dent or scratch in the second enemy.
In a real life situation, hitting more than one target would actually be a glancing hit. Unless you would actually cut through an arm or a part small enough to allow the sword the retain enough force for a second hit. Which would probably be very rare. I think they should keep it to 2 targets maximum. Otherwise it would be ridiculous.
2 handed weapons cutting into multiple targets somehow being realistic? Fucking hell. Maybe if your targets aren't wearing armor, but how often is that going to happen? smh
That does make sense but then the swords would have to get stuck in the game and it'll just make the game harder to play. Seeing the mechanics in warband where you just slice then and they live, I don't think realistic matters
Dmitri George Exactly imagine trying to cleave somebody and your damn 2hander is stuck in the body haha. Realistic and funny to see for the first time but annoying in a big MP fight. Though i would like to see limbs/heads fly around :p
We have a historical example of that happening, but yea, whilst not impossible, it's quite unrealistic. However, it is beneficial for the gameplay, and gameplay trumps authenticity.
Hitting multiple opponents with a single swing is not a realistic feature. Realistically you'd never pass your opponent's armour/your opponent/other side of opponent's armour (even with just a shirt on.)...realistically intentionally striking in wide enough arcs to hit multiple opponents isn't feasible, realistically your blade would have lost too much momentum after glide across your opponent's body to significantly harm other targets. Two handed swords aren't necessarily very massive. Momentum from a 'two handed swing'...mostly comes from the outside hand, a decent swordsman however can use the other hand to activate the lever granting a little bit more momentum. If it required a realistic amount of resources to build a thief and you had to personally draw in people to defend, run and maintain it...in no way would it be overpowered...especially if enemies could do the same.
Im curious to find out if you can actually lay waste to developments inside villages and towns. As shown in the attacking side of a castle siege you are able to destroy the gates, walls and ballista's etc. DO you simply rebuild it, or repair it at a cost? Can you destroy the farms (spice, flax, etc) and alternately affect their prosperity (income, militia and morale growth). One other thing i hope to see, is a better approval rating, For instance when you besiege a caste and win and you are now the new ruler, you start out at a minus approval rating and have to gain the trust and love of the people of your newly acquired village/town/caste. Can riots happen within your town, production is at a low due to disapproval ratings. I would like to see a maybe smaller kind of watered down version of the game where you can focus more on the Kingdom management and building components but still have main game ideas but less villages and people to fight against. Just some more features and ideas I didnt hear you mention in this video that could be in the game
they could have made the marriage system actually useful by allowing you to make kids who you then control after you die (in battle or from old age)
Laffy Taffy +1 make it happen boys.
this is what I want.
Laffy Taffy make the entire game span multiple generations. Would open up permadeath for Lords, and make inheritance a thing.
You know what? Just add in as many CK2 features as possible.

Thought the same thing, that'd be a solid idea.

Jeff Mcfarlane I'm assuming it'll probably take much longer to conquer the world with a much bigger map
Hopefully you can just ignore the whole ageing thing like in warband. I just don't want to deal with it.

Will this game be released before Half Life 3?
As long as it releases before the end of time, yes.
Jonathan Luoto No Half life three is in our imagination
YES
finaly a video on bannerlord with new stuff in it

So glad you made this video. As a long time player of Mount and Blade, I had no idea about these features. This game is going to be HUGE!
A better title would be "10 Features I Think Should Be In Bannerlord and How I Assume They Will Work Based On No Actual Evidence".

Pele sch Knowing them it's probably be pre-alpha state
Gouky im not sure they are going that way this time around ,
When M&B first came out , they were a group of 5 guys if im not mistaken all working on other jobs
Today , its a company of a few dozen people
working full time
Pele sch I heard they've got about 70 people in their team now.
well 70 is still a few dozens :) (5 dozens to be exact :) )
Most informative video I have seen in a while. Great job and you have earned a subscriber keep up the good work!
That soundtrack is amazing!
thanks for showing us ironhawk
Jesus, that music reminded me of Witcher 3
It's so badass right?
Holy shit, you think so too?
its because they both use similar medieval instruments
example: Here is medieval rave music with similar instruments

people here excited for LOTR or GOT mod, here i am ready for rifles and cannons
thank god I've been searching for more mechanics of bannerlord
well its not intended to cut straight through people, its just slashing across them

black earth708 hey what would happen in banner Lord with marriage
Ironhawks channel needs to be renamed to Ironhawks top 10. Good video bud.
The intended use for the bartering system is to trade butter for fiefs and vice-versa.
im so hyped for this game. warband was amazing!
I had this idea too when playing total war. that you are the general of your troops. like how you can set up your troops formation etc. but you're also in the battle yourself. now bannerlord is making this interesting!
Just for information, if the max size of Bannerlord maps is 225 km² it means it's about 6 times a size of Skyrim (37,1 km²).
Hope they don't lose sand box & modding features.
Are you stupid?
Skylingale
noob, won't be the first time a great game was screwed, losing all the great features, in Version 2. Depends if same developers work on both games.
RemusKingOfRome5 Let me ask again, are you stupid?
The developers have already explained that the modding capabilities for Bannerlord will be even better than those available for their previous games.
I'm so hyped. I just hope all these cool features actually work though
A typo in the title is always a sign of quality content.
i dont seem to see anyone touch upon the fact that in the gameplay video at 9:42 when they're in the parley screen (not shown in the clip taken) you can see avaliable under items many different horses, which means you will probably have to have horses avaliable for your cavalry to use, which explains the stables avaliable to build in towns. i think this is neat because it can mean that Villages will be very useful in providing for your army.
very interesting video. thank you for bringinginto light these great elements... .
I didn't notice those things, but I did notice that you spelled "haven't" wrong in the title :3
Can't wait for LOTR mods.
fuk mods , at least get the game first //
Will there also be a new Napoleonic Wars?
nice video btw :)
This game seriously needs to just come out already QQ
I think the idea of the declining Calradic Empire being divided into sub-empires is supposed to hint at Rome and how it was split into the East and West.
It also looks like you can fast forward in game, look at when they look at the results during the defence siege gameplay
The Manual Pause Button was in Warband(Spacebar) as Well as the fast forward button(control+Spacebar)
Oh sorry u said it 1 sec later
My bad
I haven't been hyped over a game in over 4 years my god. I'm like a little kid again
That music got me so fucking hyped.
Pausing and speeding up was already a feature in Warband :)
If you upgrade a village to a castle, do you think there will be even more upgrade options like blacksmith, keep or even an upgrade to turn the castle into a city? I think that would be awesome!
I noticed it all. Being an veteran makes you notice EVERYTHING i have all the mount & blade games with +27 modules so I think im an qualified veteran
Plus a buttload of hours on 2 accounts on my old i had +2.000 Hours on my new account i habe +480
Have*
Warband Terminology for every situation: I will drink from your skull!
Swinging a heavy weapon repeatedly and quite frequently should reduce the power of the swing over time due to the limit of one's strength.
i love warband, and im excited about this. i hope in AI improvement, because AI in warband was a bad joke.
Ayyy lmao im in the video (Legolas) look at the chat in the warband gameplay XDDDDDDDDDDDD
Thor Jørgensen Red pinned comment
It would be reeealy cool if they included realistic armors, like cutting through plates would be impossible and u would have to use different weapon for a different types of armor.
Tholfend They kind of had the element of that in Warband.
Piercing was very effective against armor, and so was blunt, but blunt did not have as much damage potential in general.
Cutting caused the least damage against thick armor.
So you would get very different results from the use of:
Sword, lance/military pick, or mace.
Fief Development! WAAAAA! Gimme Bannerlord NOW! I Don't Care How Much! x)
One more thing, we'd love to customize the equipments (idc if it's just visuals) of our Soldiers (per type ofc). To increase sandbox immersion ;). If it's not already there.
Sometimes you could land multiple hits if you sort of turn with the spin
It is possible that if you pierce someone with a spear, and another one is for some reason running at full speed behind that one - he could be killed by impaling himself on the outsticking part of the spear, but all the momentum comes from the victim, the swing ( or in this case stab) uses up all his momentum on the first target.
you're assuming that the cut has to go threw the opponent and not glance past them, still carrying some momentum
maximusprime98
Yes I do, for a glance wouldn't harm them ( except if it cuts the throat)
Some of those items sound like the Nova Aetas warband mod. Influence, building farm/castles, upgrading farms/village.
And they should also make the two-handed weapons strike faster, and implement half-swording or mordhau.
In case they really don't have the time, then that's when the modders come in.
looks good. imagine warsword conquest and gekokujo mods on this game. holy cow.
hey man. you realise the ctrl+spacebar combo in warband speeds up time.
Connor Lochmuller Yeh ik:P
"It's also a very realistic one" Schola Gladiatoria, LyndiBeige and Skallagrim and a host of others would beg to disagree.
everyone who have supported this game since the announcement that this game was In Dev say AYE
So... any realistic guesses on the release date?
you guys sure are giving poor Ironhawk here a hard time. Sheesh
I hope this comes out for console and those sea battles sound awesome
Do you know how badass a Napoleonic wars DLC for bannerlord would be? Especially with the improved ai command functions (like making them face any direction) and graphics. It doesn't have to be the Napoleonic wars specifically, but in the general time frame would be kick ass
everyone is talking about the game and I'm too busy in hysterics thinking that the custom character looks like Kylo Ren 😂 1:56
you use the word "now" a lot...
now continue, good video ;)
also i think the map size is about the top down map so you can create cool game of thrones size maps without issues
i still wake up every morning hoping that today is the release date
I feel like hitting a second enemy would be possible realistically, but it would do alot less damage.
Momentum is a factor, and the first hit would definitely take most of it, but I think it'd still be possible to put a dent or scratch in the second enemy.
you mispelled didn't in the thumbnail btw great videos though :)
Rip Ironhawk's spelling
Elham Nazif lmaoo
Jason Coleman I'll edit it just for you ;)
Yeah boiiiii
but but you spelt it wrong again RIP sorry im just kinda picky bout these things its haven't lmao
I never remember buying bits of wood from villages in Warband...
2 handed weapons cutting into multiple targets somehow being realistic? Fucking hell. Maybe if your targets aren't wearing armor, but how often is that going to happen? smh
Jmat4102 it appears that there will be very little armor in this game. It looks like they are mainly wearing cloth and leather and maybe mail
Still meat and bone doesn' cut that easly.
You'd need to have a ridiciliously sharp blade and massive strength to literally cleave somebody in half.
The cuziet (idk how to spell it) sounds too amazing
what the game really needs is improved respawning compared to warband
in a devlepor blog they said it will be on the verge of civil war
Maybe you can make a spot you can keep the horses you want to keep like your Stables
Two words: Co-op campaign.
Is bannerlord going to be available for Xbox 1??? MUST KNOW.
if there's no set castles how will you capture the fiefs? they're probably all attached to towns now but I don't know for sure
Haven't you noticed the Soldier in your Thumbnail wear a masonic belt??? XD this is hard for u m8 !!!
It seems to me that the owners of older PCs will be happy.
BTW: Warband is 70% off so get it before 40 hours, it ends soon (If you have the game pirated).
If it required a realistic amount of resources to build a thief and you had to personally draw in people to defend, run and maintain it...in no way would it be overpowered...especially if enemies could do the same.
its fief not thief a thief is a robber lol
dominik obora You're right, probably not the only anomaly in my post. Not sure if I should leave it or change it.
nope only mistake in the whole thing
dominik obora Ahh good =)
I can feel the LACK OF TARGET LOCK...
Regarding number 1, I'm sure a bunch of people are going to disregard the realitic side of it and only care about how easier it'll make the game
it depends on armour and the strength of the one using the weapons, not mention quality, shape of the weapn, and many other factors
You could pause and play in Warband as well.. just hold space
