Right as its been what, 15 years now since Sonic 06 when we last saw the likes of Tails, Amy and Silver playable in a mainline game. Black Knight also featured Knuckles, and Blaze again but that was over decade now. I would like more characters who aren't just another Sonic.
Apparently the next Sonic game will be like that. It's gonna be the Adventure formula with the following: 1. Multiple Playable characters 2. Permanent Upgrades 3. Longer Levels 4. A cohesive story 5. A hybrid between Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and also 06

I'll admit I'm one of the people that underrate her, but I cant lie, her fire effects looked really cool in this mod. She had the coolest looking boost out of all of the modded characters imo.

Growing up, my fave thing about Sonic Heroes was just seeing so many Sonic characters being playable and interacting with each other on and off. Even Dark Brotherhood Chronicles, I love just for actually feeling like the team went on a Sonic Adventure like in Sonic-X season 3!
Love how Knuckles questions the number of ghosts he's enountered. In Mystic Mansion, one of his idle lines is "Ghosts must really like me for some reason..."
I think different stats for the characters would be great, we already saw that Knuckles and Tails get gliding/flight while boosting, so here's some ideas for the other characters: Shadow: Same boost speed as Sonic, maybe with a tighter turning radius during drifts and the ability to lock on to multiple enemies for homing attacks. When homing attack is activated, instead of bouncing up before the next enemy Shadow will "pinball" between all the enemies he's locked on to. Silver: slower top speed than the other characters, but with a larger boost meter. Boosting in air will allow Silver to fly like it does in 06, but much faster. This will also consume the boost meter slightly faster. When locking on to enemies, Silver can either homing attack the enemy or press "Y" on the controller to grab the enemy using Psychokinesis and carry it with him while running. Silver can shoot carried enemies to deal damage to other enemies in the level. Blaze: similar running speed to Sonic and Shadow with a faster boost speed, but a meter that runs out faster/is shorter than other characters. Like Shadow, can lock on to multiple enemies, and either homing attack or shoot firebolts at every enemy at once. Burned enemies will drop rings. Ideally, all of these character ideas would have levels that work with their unique mechanics so that they can be used to their fullest extent.
A story that tells you why they're coming along would be nice, that also fits in with Sonic generation lol. Maybe pull a Sonic '06 and have each one collect the chaos emeralds, without the glitches and stuff

Edit: When bosses are defeated a that boss or someone related to that boss could be unlocked. Here's a list I made up: Death Egg Robot -> Egg Robo Perfect Chaos -> Chaos 0 Egg Dragoon -> Werehog or a smaller version of the Gaia Colossus
Honestly I don’t understand why even with the large cast of characters that the series has been building up for quite some time now, most of the modern games still only have you playing as Sonic most of the time. I guess you play as some other characters in Forces, but there are so many other characters in the series that haven’t been playable in a main-line modern Sonic game for years. It baffles me that the Sonic series seemingly refuses to take advantage of, in my opinion, one of it’s strongest aspects.
Blame the Sonic haters, game journalists and fake fans egged on by troll reviewers that all jumped on the bandwagon of the "dark age" (but most fans already know this). It's still tragic folks have been cognitively reprogrammed into thinking "multiple playable characters = multiple play-styles = bad Sonic game" yet no-one complained about the multiple playable characters in the classic games, advance games, rivals games, etc and multiple playable characters have been a thing since Sonic 2. At this point the only folks that still want the "Sonic only" games are non-Sonic fans or folks like me that would rather see characters like Tails, Knux, Amy, etc not be put into a game if they just there for "mandated" shallow fanservice while being unplayable, useless support characters.
As the mod(s) took the liberty to add in some enhancements to the characters, there are some things that could flesh them out more: Tails: add some verticality when boosting/flying in the air. Knuckles: allow him to climb walls on the 2D sections of the Act. Shadow: Personal take, but give him a blue hue when boosting, similar to Chaos Control in the Shadow the Hedgehog game. I am fine with the current look, but it would be a cool reference. Silver: make him move slower than the rest of the characters when non-boosting, but the same when boosting. Also, give him 2 times the size of the boost bar to compensate for the slowness. Blaze: Make this kitty FIREPROOF!! Yeah, she would cheese Crisis City, but she literally is fireproof. She saved me from frustration on Sky Babylon in Sonic Rush Adventure.

Thankfully Mania at least remembered despite the franchise being called Sonic, the blue hedgehog didn't build it alone, what with the playable Knux and Miles. While there is a mod for her, but it would have been nice to see Amy officially playable with the guys, what with her being part of the original group of heroes from the 16-bit era.
It should’ve had more stages as well. They didn’t even think about that for dlc. Instead you just get lame pinball, well if you got the dlc. Which I still don’t have on PS3.

So glad I came across this video. This was a really clean mod and was nice seeing these other characters in action like this again. I love Sonic as a character and playing as him, but I love his cast as well. Really would like his friends to be playable in another mainline game again and if it is like this mod, I'd be set.

Now that I think about it, does anyone remember when there were so many characters you could play as on Sonic games? Why is it the last few have almost been exclusively Sonic? Games nowadays don’t even have multiplayer competitions, character selection, things like that. Someone also made a good point about us never having a dedicated Silver gameplay experience.

It would be very cool if there actually was a mod out there that allowed you to do this with the other mods that change the abilities, and choose your character ingame.
Differences I spotted that set the characters apart... Tails: Can fly by using the boost meter (but you barely showed it) Knuckles: Can glide through the air by boosting (to game breaking effects LOL) Shadow: Boost is faster than Sonic’s but burns the gauge much faster. Silver: More control in the air? I can’t really see much. Blaze: Slower boost than Sonic and has less control overall. But in exchange, her regular move speed and her attack speed are insanely quick.
And if you look to your right you’ll find the Sonic community once again doing Sega’s job for them and adding something that should’ve already been in the game. I’ve played it like this ever since I learned about the mods. Whole reason I got into PC gaming even. Great showcase! Just wish that character select thing was real cause it’s annoying having to keep closing and re-opening the game every time.
Seeing that tails is just a reskin and could not fly seeing knuckles glide was a surprise even shadow and silver floated more than tails when used boost and even jump. Blaze felt like she was flying.
This is a very faithful mod to the individual characters. Some I never imagined until watching. The modder got Shadow skating while bursting, Knuckles burst was him gliding (very unique and nice), Tail's burst was him flying, Silver flying anyway is very good and Blaze's fire jump was sweet. Perhaps best of all, no slowdown on any character so the pace was not disturbed. The modder needs to be hired by Sega. I will pay for your work
this what i commented in one of your vid! If qomeone was able to made a character mod loader, that also adds an interface like you, it could swap the mod ingame! That would be neat. Especially now that some characters mods really do plays a little diferently.
@@BerkStorm1 yea Cream should have been in Team Sonic Racing, with the rest of Team Rose, much like Vector should have been paired up with his fellow detectives in the Chaotix. I suppose for a third character for Blaze and Silver could have been Marine.
Love seeing stuff like this. I'd love too see characters reworked into the Boost formula for a new game. maybe for that rumored Sonic Rift idea. It'd be fun to use character abilities in combination with the boost to hop between ring portals and the like to new areas. I think multiple playable characters that work off of one playstyle could suit that idea well.

Apparently it's a Boost game with big levels where level transitions are done by tossing a ring like the movie and Sonic had more fur texture too him because movie influence. Could be fake but it seemed like a cool/actually exciting evolution of the Boost.

Differences I spotted that set the characters apart...
Tails: Can fly by using the boost meter (but you barely showed it)
Knuckles: Can glide through the air by boosting (to game breaking effects LOL)
Shadow: Boost is faster than Sonic’s but burns the gauge much faster.
Silver: More control in the air? I can’t really see much.
Blaze: Slower boost than Sonic and has less control overall. But in exchange, her regular move speed and her attack speed are insanely quick.
I don't know how hard it would be, or if it's even possible to be done, but a mod like this in Generations would be awesome.
Playing as Knuckles in this game is a big cheat😂😂

Blaze literally is the reason the boost formula exists, you have no idea how happy I am to see her playable.
And if you look to your right you’ll find the Sonic community once again doing Sega’s job for them and adding something that should’ve already been in the game.
I’ve played it like this ever since I learned about the mods. Whole reason I got into PC gaming even. Great showcase! Just wish that character select thing was real cause it’s annoying having to keep closing and re-opening the game every time.
Seeing that tails is just a reskin and could not fly seeing knuckles glide was a surprise even shadow and silver floated more than tails when used boost and even jump. Blaze felt like she was flying.

Fun fact: Tails, Knuckles and Shadow is actually using the Meta Era voice. I'm not sure who is Blaze, but It's totally Dark Ages for Silver

Sonic own characters anything and any time.
This is a very faithful mod to the individual characters. Some I never imagined until watching. The modder got Shadow skating while bursting, Knuckles burst was him gliding (very unique and nice), Tail's burst was him flying, Silver flying anyway is very good and Blaze's fire jump was sweet. Perhaps best of all, no slowdown on any character so the pace was not disturbed. The modder needs to be hired by Sega. I will pay for your work

this what i commented in one of your vid! If qomeone was able to made a character mod loader, that also adds an interface like you, it could swap the mod ingame! That would be neat. Especially now that some characters mods really do plays a little diferently.

@@BerkStorm1 yea Cream should have been in Team Sonic Racing, with the rest of Team Rose, much like Vector should have been paired up with his fellow detectives in the Chaotix. I suppose for a third character for Blaze and Silver could have been Marine.

Love seeing stuff like this. I'd love too see characters reworked into the Boost formula for a new game. maybe for that rumored Sonic Rift idea. It'd be fun to use character abilities in combination with the boost to hop between ring portals and the like to new areas. I think multiple playable characters that work off of one playstyle could suit that idea well.

@@NIDER3 it was a leaked Sonic game that's the new one. Apparently it's a Boost game with big levels where level transitions are done by tossing a ring like the movie and Sonic had more fur texture too him because movie influence. Could be fake but it seemed like a cool/actually exciting evolution of the Boost.
Idk having the boost formula for all of the characters takes away their unique powers/aspects that can be implemented in a game
