    I took Northeast Regional 67 to Newport News this morning and we passed 86 (the train that would be derailed) on the way down south. Missed them by roughly 45 minutes. I was actually supposed to take 186 back up to Baltimore but unfortunately the train was canceled due to this incident. Had to dash out $250 for a one way 30-min flight on Southwest from Norfolk to Baltimore. What a absolute crazy day!

    Update as of 3:39p Jul 12 (almost a day later): Train 86's affected engine (also derailed) and cars are still in the tunnel, but one track is clear and was able to get trains 20 and 92 through. They did have to go up the CSX line for MARC's Camden line service a bit then back into Union Station to let passengers off/on and swap engines.

That seems kind of important in a metal box containing soft , squishy chunks of meat--- otherwise known as people. 2. "In case of emergency, do this.....". apparently wasn't a thing anyone was familiar with. They should go over that. 3. • @heygetoffmylawn1572
      @heygetoffmylawn1572 Год назад +1

      All that money that was “appropriated” is just ripe for many types of corruption via state and local governments and democrat union officials getting payback through the Bribum administration. What those government websites don’t tell you is a lot they don’t want you to know. Just because they have ways and means to spend the money on infrastructure projects doesn’t mean they will go through with them. Shovel ready projects aren’t ALWAYS “shovel ready”, Friend.

    • @patevans3709
      @patevans3709 Год назад +1

      Your state was given funds from the infrastructure bill based on what the state requested. The request was for specific categories of infrastructure, and the state determines which specific projects are to be handled, and the order in which they are completed! Railroads are funded by the private sector--the companies that own/run the trains also own/maintain the tracks. In an effort to improve railroad fluidity and improve supply chains, $1 BILLION was included in the Infrastructure Bill for specific areas of improvement and expansion. Such funding has not been provided in the past, but it is necessary. The previous administration was short-sighted
      on expanding the railroad system and decreased safety requirements. Prior to this one time Infrastructure Bill, the railroad companies were responsible for all maintenance. The only exception was for repairs at state and federal highway intersections with railroad tracks--those costs are shared with the railroad companies to ensure safety standards are maintained.

      The Drumpf administration is responsible for many of these derailments because they lifted speed restrictions, EPA standards, and many other rules. He was a yes-man only seeking approval and gratification from donors and companies--NOT examining long-term outcomes. Railroad companies own the tracks and
      the trains--they are private companies. Biden is making an effort to improve the railroads through reimplementing safety standards and expanding some tracks. These will also improve the fluidity of product and service chains. The funding through the Infrastructure Bill is a one time funding opportunity.

      Railroad tracks and trains are owned by the private sector--they do not receive federal funding. If we improved their structure and systems, it would greatly reduce the # of trucks on our highways, improve our supply chains, and decrease pollution. We are FAR BEHIND countries in Europe and Asia who have improved/maintained rail systems and transportation. We are focused on individual needs instead of what benefits us collectively--and long-term!

    Earth is definitely going through changes. Ground is moving all over the planet. Why does the news not talk about the sun and the activity going on with sun spots and solar flares? That's what's playing with our weather not our gas burning automobiles!

      Ground movement isn't new. As to solar activity it doesn't influence our weather as much as things that humans do, gas burning automobiles have a much stronger impact on it by releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The more carbon dioxide the stronger the greenhouse effect is, and that means more trapped heat. Think of a greenhouse where half the window panes are covered. It is going to have some average temperature, and as I uncover the covered windows panes this average temperature is going to increase because I am trapping more heat energy in the greenhouse.
