The Apex UW is unbelievable. Wanted to try it last year but heard that this club wouldn’t come to Europe. Was looking for a club between my 3 utility iron and 3 wood and to my surprise saw this one in my shop two weeks ago. Just arrived they told me 😃Tried it and went straight in my bag for the NGF competition start here in the Netherlands. My teammembers saw me hitting it at the range and tried it also and loved it. So easy to hit..high ..low ..right ...left and long. Used it several times during the match and my opponent also asked about this one😇. Will stay in the bag for a long time.👍🏽
First off, I would like to say you guys are the best golf equipment reviewers on the internet. I watch a ton of golf equipment reviews and I can tell you that your reviews carry a lot of weight for me and, to be honest, makes me upgrade a bit too often!! You provide opinions but always for the purpose to ensure the data clearly either supports or surprises your expected results. You are professionals to the core. You are thorough, detailed, scientific, logical and are exceptional communicators. When people clearly specify what they anticipate the expected results should like like and have an open mind to be proven wrong, these are the people that are the true well rounded pro's you should listen to. I must also give a special thanks to Thomas..he is the anchor on these videos, he is so passionate, intelligent, analytical and so so capable to hit a golf ball well that each video feels like a tutorial being given by a patient PHD professor. Bravo to Thomas and the crew. As a consumer of your products and services, I implore you to forward your senior management team these comments because you are the standard by which other golf review sites should be graded. Your team is the benchmark and everyone in your organization need to know this. I know this is important to do no matter how approachable or unapproachable they may be because I was a Director at a top North American Bank before I retired last year and I would use this kind of feedback to further elevate and differentiate our brand from our competitors. Now on to my second comment... I purchases the Epic Super Hybrid based on the reviews I saw. You had done one outside a while back and I can tell you weren't overly impressed, which is fine. Then this was just released and my jaw dropped when i saw the backspin numbers so hi... some others haven't had as high spin rates as you and I am wondering (hoping!) if there is any general tip you can provide having felt this club as to how to strike it to lower the spin a bit? I usually hit my 4 hybrid 210-215 carry and can comfortably draw (many hooks too due to lack of skill!) any club in my bag, even the putter!!
I took a chance on spec to buy the super hybrid and wow do I love it. Great club, great shaft and it has replaced essentially all my fairway woods (though I still have my epic 3 wood with an mmt shaft). Together with my stealth driver it has given me the optimum clubs. As a leftie too it has allowed me to tweak it to suit my swing perfectly. Given my irons have the mmt shaft it is a great complement as the steelfibre is somewhat similar. For me it fills the gap as my irons start at the 6 iron. In my view well worth the cost. Finally rounded out my set - even though I am brand agnostic and indeed have seven different brands in my set.
Although I don’t hit the ball like Thomas - also being in my late 60s- I find that the dispersion is tight with the super hybrid and am able to stop if on the green- great descent angle and also being short the shorter length shaft is better for me. So it is a question of what you need in one’s game.
Just got my 1st hybrid ever. A 3 Cleveland Launcher Halo. Have only been able to hit it on the simulator because I’m in Michigan, but so far I love it. It fills my 230-250 yard range for those overly long par 3’s and 2nd shot par 5’s.
That UW is a rocket launcher is really good stopping power. I have the 17 degree and it’s superb. Ordered the 21 degree and can’t wait to put it in the bag.
Very nice review. Apex UW #3 is a very good club. Hopefully, you will compare it to other hybrid clubs with length of 41.5", such as Cleveland HY Wood #3, Cobra King Tec Hybrid #2, Cobra LTDX Hybrid #2, Wilson D9 Hybrid #2.
I’ve got the 17 degree UW that replaced my 3W and a couple Rogue ST Hybrids that replaced my 4 and 5 irons. I LOVE my UW. It goes where I point it. I have so much confidence with it, I’ll hit it on any hole with trouble. It’s my best club in the bag.
Great job guys , I have both clubs,i was just saying I need to have a head to head with my sim2 ti 5 wood and the superhybrid , I think I would do better with the shorter shaft superhybid, but will see! or knock the hybrid up to higher loft and make it a20 degree club! Thanks again guys great stuff !
I have the 17 Thomas. My dog lost his spot on the bed. Should be illegal - even out crap is just a rocket machine. Played for the first 18 at the AFB in Charleston . Virtually all par 5’s in are play for two (minus a couple I might have put in the drink trying).
I liked the comparison, was always curious about the difference between these two. Just wondering how the UW would fair for a weekend golfer with about 75% of Thomas' speed. If it launched and lands low, then may not be the best choice for holding a green.
Very nice review. Please put Apex UW against other 17 degree hybrids such as Cobra LTDx hybrid, Cobra King Tec hybrid, Wilson D9 hybrid, Tour Edge C722 hybrid, Taylor Made Stealth PLUS rescue hybrid and Ping G425 hybrid.
The 17 degree UW hits low bullets, high shots that can hold greens, and you can shape it any way you like. Kind of like a super accurate, low spin, draw bias fairway wood that you can control the flight on
Bet the UW don’t go so good if you can’t strike the center of the face! So the SuperH probably suited to more players. In a similar concept, I have a Mizuno CLK 2 hybrid at 16 deg (and can go up or down 2 degs). It’s a rocket, and since it flies lower and goes miles, I bring it out on windy days. A handy 3W replacement.
Not many people talking about the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo Hy-Wood (3+). Would love to see a comparison on how it stacks up, not a lot of reviews on youtube. Most say its very good, but would love to see some numbers!
Just got this exact Apex UW last week and it FLIES! Almost as far as my driver but that’s neither here nor there 😅. Definitely super happy with my purchase so far as someone who doesn’t have the longest distance
I have one and feel the head is neutral but it's fighting a stock shaft that's far too light for a club of that length. Silly decision putting a 67g stock shaft in. Go on Ng to try a cheaper experiment and put a proforce V2 in 70-80g
forgot to mention, I have not received the Epic Super Hybrid 3H 18 degrees yet....my expectations for it was to replace a cobra radspeed tour 5 wood...

I was inconsistent with my fairway woods, tried the UW and it went in the bag as a fairway wood replacement. Easy to hit, love it!
Good stuff!

Agreed. I have been saying this for months. So smart, neutral brand opinions, knowledgable about tech and history. Great channel.

Wow! That's awesome!!

Good choice!
I have the 17 Thomas. My dog lost his spot on the bed. Should be illegal - even out crap is just a rocket machine. Played for the first 18 at the AFB in Charleston . Virtually all par 5’s in are play for two (minus a couple I might have put in the drink trying).

Well it's not a hybrid so it wouldn't be much of a comparison
The 17 degree UW hits low bullets, high shots that can hold greens, and you can shape it any way you like. Kind of like a super accurate, low spin, draw bias fairway wood that you can control the flight on
The UW is hard to find in stores. At least here in Sweden.
Bet the UW don’t go so good if you can’t strike the center of the face! So the SuperH probably suited to more players.

I tried the UW at the simulator and with off centered hits I only lost about 10-15 yards
The UW is intended for tour players and anyone that considers themselves good at golf, but from what I hear it's still a little forgiving on mishits
The real question: 17 or 19 degree in the Apex UW?
Not many people talking about the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo Hy-Wood (3+). Would love to see a comparison on how it stacks up, not a lot of reviews on youtube. Most say its very good, but would love to see some numbers!
Thanks for the suggestion! - Thomas
agree. just curious and no reviews on youtube
I am in my 70's and love my 16° Super Hybrid. I can hit it into the wind and keep it low with good spin
Interesting comparison for sure! Just picked up the Super Hybrid myself and if I hit it half as well as Thomas I'll be happy 😁
Yes!
Just got this exact Apex UW last week and it FLIES! Almost as far as my driver but that’s neither here nor there 😅. Definitely super happy with my purchase so far as someone who doesn’t have the longest distance
Love it! We've gotten so many similar pieces of feedback from people with this club
Torn between these two models. This would be my “fairway” to gap between driver 260 carry and 210 hybrid. Super hybrid 2 Vs 17 UW?
what's better for a 15 handicapper?
I would lean towards the Super Hybrid or even possibly the Rogue ST hybrids - Thomas
Thought uw was anti-left and super was a bit draw biased. At least, that was my experience.. well....
I have one and feel the head is neutral but it's fighting a stock shaft that's far too light for a club of that length. Silly decision putting a 67g stock shaft in. Go on Ng to try a cheaper experiment and put a proforce V2 in 70-80g
Would of love to see both off the tee as well in this test. Awesome though.
Noted! Thanks for watching!
Thomas looking like he's been putting work in in the gym
You bet!
axiom 125x in the super hybrid would drastically change the results
Thomas growing a beard for summer?
More Danny and less Campbell. Danny is the man!!!
Super Hybrid is cheaper and not more!!
forgot to mention, I have not received the Epic Super Hybrid 3H 18 degrees yet....my expectations for it was to replace a cobra radspeed tour 5 wood...
The Cobra King Tec hybrid 2022 is good looking super hybrid compared to Callaway.
Getting fed up with all the lefty discrimination in golf... 😤
