Picked up one from a thrift store for 10 bucks and it still works, no battery corrosion at all. But it does have 2 problems - no sound (the AV jacks are in all the way and correctly, so it’s not that) and it flickers on the TV if the cord is straight. Any tips on how to fix it?
Great video! I have one myself and the video and audio cord also are going bad were you able to get a replacement cord? If so did you purchase online or locally?
I haven't been able to find one anywhere, but it is just a standard rca cable but with a strain relief on the console end. If you are fine without the strain relief, you could replace it with any old rca cable.
Thanks for posting this. On mine the large button is intermittent. Do you know if it uses a tact switch? It doesn’t feel like one, but I’d like to have what I need on hand before I disassemble it.
From my experience with these, garbled graphics are usually a corrosion issue. I'd check the battery compartment first and clean up any corrosion there. After that I would make sure the rest of the board is corrosion free and reflow anything that looks suspicious.
My ground got disconnected from the board side not the battery side and I’m not sure where it belongs cause I can touch the wire to the pins of the switch and it lights up while the switch is in off position.
I'd have to open mine up to confirm, but I believe it is just a potentiometer on the inside. You'd have to open it up and get some isopropyl alcohol in there to clean it up. If that doesn't work, replacing it would be the only option.
Absolutely! Inside the unit there are microswitches that control the directions. You would want to check it an possibly clean it to get it working again.
@@pattycakezprojectz I have bought 3 of them and they all have the same issue. The joystick comes out when playing the game. It comes right out of the socket. I don’t know about a clip. I have tried screwing it back into the socket, but when I play it pops out again. I have searched the internet looking for a solution. Thanks.
You saved my nostalgia today, I pray you be blessed. 👊💎👾
Thanks! I’m going to try and repair mine! I may be back with more questions!!!

It uses a microswitch, not a tac switch if I remember right. I am unsure of the size of micro switch at the moment.
@@pattycakezprojectz Thank you.
I just purchased a pacman plug n play. The graphics are all messed up on the screen. Is that fixable? Thanks. Great video!

the circuit boards have the ground labeled "GND".
Would you know how to fix the twisting feature on the joystick of Ms. Pacman for the Pole Position game?

Thanks so much for the advice, I’ll definitely give that a shot!! Watching your video honestly made me feel a lot more confident in opening up mine! 😄
Would you know how to fix a ms. pacman joystick that won't let ms. pacman go up?

Would you be able to tell me how to fix the joystick? It keeps falling out of the socket when I play the game. Thanks.
What do you mean exactly by the joystick keeps falling out of the socket? It is retained by a clip from the inside if I remember right.
