    I actually thought you already had one of these lenses, turns out I was wrong. Not for the first time... 😅
    The one thing that surprised me about this lens was how close it can focus- it's practically a macro lens but because it's quite wide anything more than a few inches from the glass looks far away.

I shot a bit with the 9mm Oly with defishing applied i LR last year to "try the reach" on for size and found it working quite well for such motifs, "up close and personal oddities" if that makes any sense. 🙂

      Hi Bruce, I did look at that lens a couple years back. But it was hard to justify as I already had the 7-14mm at the time, and still use it a lot, though I realize it's not as good or as fast. (I also have the 12-35, and 12-60. But I rarely use them anymore.) I seem to be shooting with super wide or super telephoto these days. I'm sure that will change as my interests ebb and flow into new areas of photography - as they do. Thanks for taking a look at my video. Nice to see you again!

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  Год назад +1

      Hi Gordon. Yes, I love the 15mm for my RUclips videos. I use it all the time now. It actually took me a bit of getting used to as I always used my 12-35mm set at 20 or 25mm (for normal focal length). But the 15mm is so nice and compact and I can't accidentally change the zoom (as I often move the camera on and off the tripod when transferring video clips to the computer.) I do sometimes accidentally move the f/stop ring though! I won't have the problem with the 9mm.
      Yes the air quality is still in the danger zone here for a bit, but they promise the winds will shift by Thursday afternoon - and them some other unfortunate places will get this smoke instead. I feel worse for the folks displaced or adjacent to where the actual fires are burning. And you're right it's far too early for this. It has been dry and very hot for a couple of weeks here and now we're paying the price.

    I bought the Laowa 7.5mm before Panasonic came out with this 9mm. It would have been an interesting choice between them. I’m a Pana boy at heart, and that 9mm would be very tempting. But I was overwhelmed by that Laowa. I just wanted it for the focal width, but I was blown away with the build quality and the glass in that Laowa.

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  Год назад

      If you have that much space behind you, use the 12-32mm lens that came with the G100 and set it at 18-20mm or so. And use your biggest f-stop like f4 or so (on this lens that's about as big as you can go at 20mm) You will need a tripod to do this. If that's not blurry enough, you may have to get a prime, like the 20mm f1.7. But in my opinion most people stress about getting a blurry background, when it really doesn't add much value to your content. The 20mm is affordable though. But it won't work great if you're pointing the camera at yourself. For that you'll need about a 15mm or a 9mm like the ones I show in this video. Again, the 12-32mm kits lens will work great for that too. Hope that helps.

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  Год назад +1

      Hi Harry, Which lens are you using for that? Sounds like you're working in a tight space. You may be okay using that longer FL lens so that you don't get any distortion, which can be important for documentation. This 9mm is supposed to have less distortion than many.
