When the coach told William at the end of the movie not to forget about him if he makes pro, and William's response later to the camera saying he should have told him that if he didn't make it to the pros not to forget about him either.
@@samirrangooni ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL STATEMENTS I HAVE EVER HEARD TO THIS DAY! AND MAYBE THE MOST SOBERING THING I HAVE EVER HEARD TO THIS DAY LITERALLY! Thank you for reminding me of this. So glad these young men are still with us.
I literally finished watching the movie with my 2 kids. Poking around for updates on the fellas, and this just dropped! Amazing timing and so happy to see their joy and good work.
Nothing but respect for these two brothers and love that we get and got to see their hoop dreams in real time. They're adults now. A different time in their lives. Grew up watching the documentary. Got the VHS and DVD. Even read the book. Hell still the best trailer ever lol. Glad to see them doing for their own community to this day.
Great interview. This doc had a huge impact on me in the 90's. I lived in MS but came to Chicago that summer to go to BJ Armstrong's basketball camp and I saw the doc in the theater that summer.
Wow, I’m getting up there in age 😩 I remember being in elementary school and watching the Hoop Dreams documentary in school. Good to see these brothers ☺️
Love these good brothers. I watched Hoop Dreams and it was so real it changed my perspective on life and the game of basketball. The movie hit home and it wasn’t a movie it was a documentary. Salute and so much respect and appreciation for these good human beings. Sincerely with love from Joseph L from S.California thank you so very much for sharing you’re real life story’s with others that couldn’t and most definitely could relate. GodBless you and your love ones and much success on all now and future endeavors in your blessed lives. Love to you guys foreal foreal. Give these men and there families and story it’s due respect and currency deserved. PortoRicanJo
Hoop Dreams was way ahead of it's time. My brother and I would watch the movie routinely! You really felt a connection with these two along with their families. #RealityTvBeforeRealityTv 🙌🏿🙏🏿🖤
Wow, this is amazing. I've watched the documentary "Hoop Dreams" multiple of times, and to see these two guys years later doing well is great! Based on the movie, they both had the potential, but some of life's challenges got in the way. Kudos to these brothers giving back to the game of basketball, and to the kids of the city of Chicago.
I remember watching the documentary as a kid and being enamored with their story. Then later becoming a teacher and showing it to my students with the same outcome... I'm glad to see Arthur and William doing well today.
Salute to the culture and Chicago!! I’m from The south side and I was a little younger than them when the doc dropped we were all aspiring hoopers back then!!
It’s great to see these brothers doing well and giving to the community. I use to watch “Hoop Dreams” all the time growing up. I salute you brothers. God bless you both 🙏🏽
Crazy how there's always someone that demeans other communities when there's SO MUCH going on in their own that needs to be addressed. While that fake "perfect" community is raising school shooters, drug abuser, scammers, and violent offenders, the "news" never seems to cover it. Who stormed the Capitol based on a lie by a now 34 times convicted felon? Who annihilated the Native Americans? Who initiated slavery...and other atrocities the world over. Who are the typical serial...Which group tried to overthrow the government and hang the vp based on a lie by a 34 times convicted felon and r8pist....YET your energy is focused on spreading stereotypes about other groups. Black people live at every level of society and our black jobs include presidents, vice presidents, lawyers, judges, engineers, astronauts, teachers, etc. Educate yourself. Racism is boring.
I grew up on this movie. Sincerely glad to see them well and alive
Me too. I still get into it when I watch it. R.I.P to Arthur's father.

When I saw the thumbnail I clicked ASAP. Hoop Dreams wasn’t a movie, it was LIFE
Greatest sports documentary ever made

Shout out to Arthur Agee and William Gates 💯🔥🫵🏽🔥💯 Hoop Dreams....🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I know he is older but William has really come out of his shell with public speaking
He has been a pastor for decades now, he has been in front of crowds since the early 2000's!
@Snack_Life312 everyone knows this! They talk to these almost every year and being a minister or pastor still does not mean public speaking is great.
my bros! Love y'all 💞
They both should be inducted into the basketball hall of fame as contributors.
I agree 1000%
❤
I grew up on this movie when I had hoops dream 🏀🏀🏀🏀

Salute brothers
This was a good documentary.

I met these two guys at a basketball camp in NY back in the summer of 95. I believe it was Spike Lee’s basketball camp.
Love this documentary, a young Jalen Rose was in it.
