I've been on the edge of moving to Linux for a while.... Recall did it for me. I've been running Linux in VMs on Proxmox for a couple of years now, so I've gotten much more comfortable with Linux. I installed Linux Sunday, so far I'm loving it.
1:32:32 Preview is just left of that "Preview Pane" so basically you didn't spend time on this or XYplorer which does have a free version and pretty good. (58:00 )
I'm only halfway through, but it's seeming like you are looking for a new file explorer. But instead you need to be looking for a new shell and file explorer combo
On windows there's only 1.. Total commander.. Been using it since Windows 3.11... Though back then it was called win commander.. And before that i used norton commander...
Perhaps it is best just to disable recall and hope that any surprises can be countered with programs like O&O Shut up. It's a pity the Android on windows thing didn't work out so that you could use one of the millions of file managers from Android?
Directory Opus is the ultimate tool.
I actually miss it on Linux.

I hope the community finds a legit fix for Windows Explorer and total removal of Recall.
I am glad I am still rocking Windows 10 on my PC and with several scripts including Chris Titus utility tweaks
Hey Chris. About your last comment, there's an old movie called "pirates of sillicon valley" talking about the beginning of microsoft and apple.
