@@moonsiemeda5054 It's a fantastic song, isn't it? Mabel King also sings a blues on this soundtrack, but unfortunately you can barely hear it in the film--just a few seconds' worth.
@@jonathanmitchell9886 Another underrated talent, Mabel King. Sam Waymon also maybe a little in the sahdow of his sister. No denying both siblings were talented.R.I.P. Mabel King, Ganja and Hess , 1973 movie and it's soundtrack are supherb.
@@moonsiemeda5054 Yes, absolutely. I think Sam Waymon was in a state of genuine inspiration when he composed this soundtrack, and Bill Gunn should have been recognized as a genius after this film's release. I think it was admired very highly in France, but sadly no one knew what to make of it in the United States.
@@jonathanmitchell9886 Absolutely agree with all that you said. Btw/a little off topic: my mom had the ultimate crush on Duane Jones. I remember when she heard he passed away she was so sad. I was 11 years old and did not get it but, now I do. In her words he was "handsome and a scholar."
One of the true masterpieces of American Cinema and a subversive allegory about addiction
top 10 movies of all time.

Just saw this film screened tonight and Sam Waymon was there
Such a good movie. Let's hope it will move from being know as a Blaxploitation horror film and be recognized as a film instead.
An American art-house classic.

Anybody see him perform Blue Lilies in the film Personal Problems so good
Nothing like the original, but I love how spike remade this movie “da sweet blood of Jesus”
I just saw this again on Shudder. Great flick.
