This episode spawned an entire podcast: Whiting Wongs. The writer for this episode, Jessica Gao, had hoped to cast an Asian actress to voice Dr. Wong. Then Susan Sarandon told Dan she was a big fan of the show and would love to be on it. Dan figured there aren’t that many guest voice actors needed per season, so why not have her play Dr. Wong, without really running it past Jessica before making the decision. So, Jessica convinced Dan to do a podcast with her where they drink and discuss Hollywood, casting, writing, and representation.
season 3 is the best. peak RnM. Dr.Wong was spot on about rick that's why he never interrupted her while she was explaining his character. Rick somewhat realized being the smart man in the universe won't prevent losing his mental health.
Seeing both of your eyes light up in surprise when Morty flipped over the pickle made me know this would be a fun reaction :D That joke got really played out online when the episode came out, but it's nice that you guys didn't know what to expect
Dan Harmon has apparently indicated that Pickle Rick is a metaphor for alcoholism. Aftet all, a euphemism for "drunk" is "pickled".
