What a great comprehensive overview of the show! I've worked this type of show twice a year for 25 years. I've always wanted to attend as a spectator. I agree with you Lorraine Henry is an excellent teacher. I felt like I learned alot from her classes. I took 2. I looked under the fig leaf! 🤭 So nice to have met you! Cheryl 🇨🇦
Those classes sound fab, especially the Jim Suzio re the collars, serging a zip in, I have never heard of this. Thanks for sharing the tip about lining the shirt xx
Awww 😢 brought a little tear, you guys are so lovely! I’m so glad you enjoyed it so much! Thankyou so so much for the quilt pattern! Looking forward to giving that a good read. That shirt class, what a beautiful shirt he’d made for reference! Xx
Great recap Christine! I think I would have to agree with you about attending next year. The only other class I would be interested in taking is the "painting with thread" class. Maybe we can all bombard the organizers with emails about adding more garment-friendly classes and vendors 😊 It was truly wonderful meeting you in person - it felt so natural to hang out! Can't wait till the next time 💕
Yes Christine, I agree with you about the classes. I will definitely check out Lorraine's fitting classes. My favorite parts of the EXPO were meeting everyone and participating in the Fashion Show! Lots of fun!
Loved watching your summary of the Expo and the classes you took. I've done a lettuce hem once, but not deliberately 😂. It was amazing to spend time with you and get to know you better, what a marvellous time we all had. Roll on the next big meet up ❤ xx
What a comprehensive look at the whole thing! It was such a pleasure. I love Jim Suzio - didn't know he had a channel but boy am I gonna subscribe to him. I totally agree about Lorraine Henry - I took one of her classes last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it's fantastic that you gleaned a lot of teaching techniques as well as the few things here and there in terms of sewing. Hopefully we'll all be able to get together in person again soon. Gotta make that happen. See you on Zoom!
He does live teachings of short 10-15 minute tutorials each week live on Facebook I think and then they get posted on RUclips. I think he partners with someone on their channel.
Great summary of your experience at the Expo! I had such a good time and I’m so grateful I got to meet you and spend time with you - we definitely have to do it again!! 💞
Oh I loved hearing all about the show. You explained it so wonderfully. I was kind of afraid that you would say it was leaning heavily toward quilters. Yes I know how to quilt and I have quilted but my first love and my last love is garment sewing. Does it seem to you that folks in the UK have a lot more options for meetups and sewing shows geared toward garment sewers? They seem to have a lot more fabric stores full of fashion fabric. All I have near me are boutique little quilt shops that carry beautiful fabric and Joanne's.sigh...
I loved Lorraine Henry and bought that same book last year. I agree with your final thoughts which is why i didn't go to the expo this year. It was fun meeting you!
I really did enjoy the Expo this year but I do agree with your summation about the classes. They do seem to be more geared to quilters BUT there were many more garment classes this year than there in past years. At this year's Expo, I took a couple of Lorraine Henry's fitting classes and thoroughly enjoyed them. And I always like to shop around the various booths of sewing goods. I always tend to find something that I just have to buy! Most of all though, it was so nice to meet up with so many other Sewing Sisters.
I bought her book and the little measuring book & tape, too. I need to alter patterns so much that I think this information will help me a lot! Wish you lived closer -- we could dig in to this together!!

Love that you went all fan grill for those classes!
Totally! Lots of knowledge was dropped.

Hi Christine. My thoughts are the same as yours in the Expo. I did love the class with Lorraine! I enjoyed meeting you and the other lovely ladies!!

Loved spending time with you and yes….I peeked under the fig leaf!

Lorraine is a fit master and explains things so well. I bought the book and measuring tape and am looking forward into digging in to fitting.
