Yep - this is a super band: George Harrison - electric guitar Eric Clapton - electric guitar Keith Richards - bass Ginger Baker - drums Billy Preston - piano, Hammond Organ @@musiccollector
Eric Clapton on some hot soloing, Keith Richards on bass, Ginger Baker on drums, Doris Troy backing vocals, quite the lineup and killer version of this song. I do believe Eric is using his Black Beauty Les Paul on this.
Wow, I did! I knew that he played on the album and forgot to mention, well ya know, he's only a Beatle and such! ;) Good catch James! @@jamesrawlins735
I’m surprised ginger didn’t tear Keith another Keith hole, I’ve read ginger is pretty hard on bassists/bandmates for rhythm and Keith isn’t the most rhythmically accurate player
The most beautiful song I ever heard!!! Bar none!! Everything about this song is fantastic!! Guitarists look out. Clapper explodes on this masterpiece!! I cried the day I got this lp in 1971..still a killer!!!!
Why can't we be humble Like the good Lord said He promised to exalt us For love is the way How men be so greedy When there's so much left All things are God given And they all have been blessed That's the way God planned it That's the way God wants it to be, didn't He Well, that's the way God planned it That's the way God wants it to be, for you and me Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Let not your heart be troubled Let mourning sobbing cease Learn to help one another And live in perfect peace If we just be humble Like the good Lord said He promised to exalt us For love is the way That's the way God planned it That's the way God wants it to be, doesn't He You better believe me That's the way God planned it That's the way God wants it to be, for you and me Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah That's the way, alright Come on, come on, come on I hope you get this message And where you won't others will You don't understand me But I'll love you still That's the way God planned it That's the way God wants it to be You better believe me That's the way God planned it That's the way God wants, He wants it to be That's the way God planned it That's the way God wants it to be Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah That's the way God planned it That's the way God wants it to be Oh, yeah
Sometimes lyrics websites get it wrong: instead of “For love is the way” it should read “But LOW is the way.” If we want God to exalt us, we have to take the low way, the path of humility.
Wonderful, magnificent and beautiful song and sung with heart felt lyrics. I overheard a phrase 'that's the way' and reminded me of this song, and came searching and now found, heard it first time round, never forgotten it.
@@michaelmccrory2220 Yes same here Music was always played when I was growing up sometimes im out and a blast from wherever stops me in my tracks remembering something from that time, thank goodness for memories..❤
@@janiceward2169 I've got a little portable radio, not expensive, it has poor reception, but I don't mind, as the crackle and interference adds atmosphere to the music and reminds me of listening to 60s music when I was young, when you had to tune to different stations as best you could to hear different styles of music. 👍
@@michaelmccrory2220 Amazing!! I Love that you told me this My brother has a tiny radio complete with interference I bought him a new one at Christmas he tried it once and put it back in the box where I know its gonna stay..I get it totally, why wouldn't you want to hold on to a little bit of the 60,s..Enjoy Michael..👍👍
Tears are streaming. Yes. Streaming. Biily Preston. Oh, that brother suffered on his life's journey. But he made it to GLORY! WITH CHRIST!
Lifelong atheist but I love this song since 1969
Gotta be the grittiest gospel song ever.
As hard as life can be some, we have to remember that God is on control. I learned that with loss of my son.😢
Amazing bass line. Played by Keith Richards!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!

Klaus did it better :p, but Keith did good
Now that's the way to go to church ! Love me some Billy Preston ! Showing the angels how to jam !
Fabulous memories of 1969. Awesome song with no fluff for lyrics, either. R.I.P., bro.
I haven't Got Enough Words to say How Much I've Loved BILLY...and Ohhh Lord...I Still Do...I Always Will.

You forgot George Harrison also on electric guitar (which is why I think Keith agreed to play bass)

My personal favorite of the numerous Fifth Beatles
I would've given just about anything to be in the studio when they recorded this! Monsters of ROCK!

Why can't we be humble
Like the good Lord said
He promised to exalt us
For love is the way
How men be so greedy
When there's so much left
All things are God given
And they all have been blessed
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be, didn't He
Well, that's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be, for you and me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Let not your heart be troubled
Let mourning sobbing cease
Learn to help one another
And live in perfect peace
If we just be humble
Like the good Lord said
He promised to exalt us
For love is the way
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be, doesn't He
You better believe me
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be, for you and me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
That's the way, alright
Come on, come on, come on
I hope you get this message
And where you won't others will
You don't understand me
But I'll love you still
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be
You better believe me
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants, He wants it to be
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be
Oh, yeah

Listen to the end, Preston & Clapton trading solos--some of Eric's greatest playing ever.
Ginger Baker, Keith Richards (on bass), and George Harrison also play on this album.
Clapton too!
Yeah Yeah Yeah...YEAH.
Legends at work.
one of he's greatest numbers. top artist .takes me right back there.
sadly missed
El Mejor Tecladista del Mundo.....!
Great lyrics!
Una lástima que no se haya hecho más popular en este 2020 y 2021 tiempos donde necesitamos de DIOS.
Great song

I will always want to have a Heliotrope Suit like Billy's. If I do it will be that I will always have one.
Fantastic song! The Dirty Mac backs up Billy, too (i.e., Keith Richards on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums and Eric Clapton on guitar).
You sure about Mitchell? Most things I've seen say Ginger Baker.
Ginger Baker.
Your missing John Lennon!
@@colujomes Same dude I’ve seen that Ginger Baker played on half the album and Ringo Starr on the other half
Ginger Baker on drums.
