Sounds better with the orchestral horns.

Would sound best with natural horns.

It was originally composed for Basset Horns but because it's playable on modern Horns, Hornists play it (transposed) and it sounds nice.

What key are the horns playing in (or transposing to?) This music isn't in F.

It sounds like the parts are written for horn in C

I think when the "Concert Key" Changes so does the key of the horn. So if we're playing in Concert F the parts are played in F and if the parts are written in Concert C the parts are played in C. In the Menuetto the Key Signature has 1 flat. That's Concert F and the Pedal C's the horn are playing are Concert F's. I think I'd have to take to a tuner to find out exactly, but that would be my guess.

The first piece is likely played on horns in C, which transpose to an octave lower.
