    The U.S USED to be a country where one spouse's wages could buy a house and provide at least a decent living to a FAMILY where the other parent was home with children. Just another disaster in the U.S. Don't hold your breath thinking THIS country will change for the better. 😞

    Black Americans have been living this life since 1865. When you live in the richest country in the world but as a group you have never been made whole economically $1000 = $1 in America.

    I can’t even imagine having to leave a child, only beeing two months, in someone elses care. I think that even one year is a little early.
    What a brave boy, going through cancer at that age. My heart breaks for the families. 😢
    I don’t understand why the American people vote for this system, a system that forces them to make this horrible choises.

      We are spoon fed propaganda from from cradle to grave. The internet and smartphones bringing it to everyone's hand is finally allowing some of us to actually see beyond the falsehoods we were raised on. Even then, you will only stumble upon the truth if you go looking for it and only believe it is true when something rocks your faith in the belief in the bullshit you were raised to accept

    6 months of paid leave is alot.
    At the old job I had ppl truly abused the fmla policy..... ppl hated the job and everyone went to the doctors and came up with excuses to not come to work. Ppl used it to the extreme. And while I believe fmla is a good thing generally for ppl who truly have a real medical issue, I understand why businesses don't want to expand it. You would have new hires using it (because it not hard to get a medical diagnosis nowadays) and then taking off for weeks or month getting paid for time they they aren't working..... then the ppl who do show up to work have to cover the slack bc ppl who abused the fmla policy bc they are too lazy to come to work or bc they hate their job. If you want to stay home 6 months with your new baby then just find a new job after your baby is 6 months old....why should the company and coworkers pay for your choices?

    Very glad to see an Al Jazeera story come up on my Google News feed. I was complaining to them just a couple weeks ago that this good source never appears on Google News, whereas a propaganda source like Fox News does many times a day. Watching this video with interest. I could do without the emotional background music, myself - one person's opinion.

    • @hymbaughtube
      @hymbaughtube 4 года назад +2

      Your google news feed populates based on the stories you've already read and the news sites where those stories were published. Google doesn't just place in front of you whatever it pleases. It's algorithm that feeds you things you are most likely to read. Read news from better sources and your feed will more often show you stories from those sources.

    • @jaimejaimeChannel
      @jaimejaimeChannel 4 года назад +1

      @@hymbaughtube They are very heavy on Fox News stories which I almost never read, and Washington Examiner which NO ONE reads or ever heard of. So I think their algorithms must be based on something else, like ... I've never quite figured it out. I get a lot of sports and celebrity stories which I never read, and have even tried to delete those sections which doesn't seem to be an option any more. If you have a link to a good article on how it works, I'd be interested - thanks.

  • @doity

    This is a sad situation. However, the company could go bankrupt if forced to pay maternity. As stated in the video, it was a small, 15 person company. Should the government force the small business to pay maternity leave, even if it means the company may go out of business? Additionally, small companies will be more inclined to hire men if they will be forced to pay maternity leave. So is the answer to force paid paternity leave too? Companies need every employee because otherwise they wouldn't have hired them. Paid maternity leave requires the business to pay a wage while the employee isn't filling the role they were hired for. So now the company may need to hire someone else or production stops.

      What about when the husband wants a divorce? What about unplanned pregnancy? I'd hazard a guess that you don't believe in abortion, so what if the man bails or the baby is a product of sexual assault which happens a lot more than you think?
      What about mom's who were working and the pregnancy destroyed their health? Or they were in an accident? Etc...Stop drinking the kool-aid and thinking that just because you managed, everyone can. No two people live the same lives with the same opportunities and luck offered to them. Not everyone is born at the same intellectual potential to be able to obtain the type of degrees and certifications necessary for a decent paying job. You only know your own story. It doesn't negate the reality of others

      It’s an option in America and most places don’t offer it. Most jobs in America is contractual work and contractors don’t get leave at all not unless the stat makes it mandatory. Maryland lucky makes it mandatory for each check you get 1 to 5 hours of paid leave. In other states it’s not in place.
