This means a lot to me, Jonny. I may not be much of an FF fan outside of VI & VII, but the title alone means everything to me. I just cut myself off from my narcissistic family this weekend and have been struggling emotionally considering what season it is. But I've been listening to a lot of your tunes lately and it's been cheering me up a lot. Thanks for the amazing work you do, and keep rocking on.
A lot of us are right there with you. I've done the same already as a boundary setting for my mental health. Music helps a lot, as does talking to people in similar situations. We'll get though this.
you are very brave man, it takes a lot of guts to do that but you will definitely see good results in the end. It is a good moment to play this marvelous game (FF IX) and marvel in the bonding these characters will make along the way. Cheers!
The whole game, Zidane has been helping his friends and telling them to buck up and never asked for anything in return. He doesn't know how to accept help because no one has ever given it to him. Seeing a reminder of your affect on others like this was super fucking powerful when I played it in the past few years
"Chivalry requires a knight to look after his comrades in arms. I will not abandon you! And I shall follow you to kingdom come if I must. You remember that!" -Adelbert Steiner
Steiner is probably the best character in the whole game, narratively. Sure, he's FAR from the most likeable, but his character arc was second to none among the rest of the cast. Especially when you consider that Alexandria seems to be a Matriarchy (the Knights of Pluto are the only male soldiers and kind of a laughing stock) and that even Beatrix grew to respect (and more) the guy. Sure, Vivi's struggles may be the most memorable, but Steiner? Steiner was just objectively better from a quality standpoint. And it was genuinely rewarding to see him get over himself and grow to respect the allies he once attempted to sabotage.
This specific Steiner line is the one that gets me the most emotional during the entire scene. To go from hating Zidane's guts to being his faithful ally no matter what.
I've always liked this part of FF9 despite how damn jarring and depressing it is initially. Zidane goes through some rough revelations and his friends pull him back despite him not wanting to listen. It was such a powerful part of the story and this track made that whole section have such weight, such presence and meaning. Hearing it in your style... you honor it well.
I...kinda needed to hear this just now. Not just the music, excellent as always, but the bit at the end too. Because I do feel alone a lot these days. To anyone else out there who feels that way too...may you find your people. :) Maybe even just right here in the comments. I mean, at least we all know everyone here has great taste in music XD
This song…This moment is one of the best across the Final Fantasy series. After all this time, trying to find an answer for where he comes from and what his life means, Zidane gets absolutely crushed when the learns the truth about his creation. And he just doesn’t know what to do except for try to go it alone. But he’s not alone. His life HAS meaning. Meaning through the friends he made, the people he supported, and who are willing to support him. It’s just…such a beautiful moment~!
Like many others have said, this song is very impactful for me. FFIX has some of the most organic and authentic storytelling and musical feel that I've experienced in some time. One of the best early Christmas presents I could have asked for.
"Chivalry requires a knight to look after his comrades in arms. I will not abandon you! And I'll follow you to kingdom come if I must! you remember that!" One of my fav quotes in the entire game during that scene.
"You're not alone. In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming, the bonds we share with those who truly care are a constant source of strength, letting us know that no matter the challenge, we don't have to face it alone." After a month like this one, I think this is something we all needed to hear. Thanks, Jonny.
YO!! I didn't know you were planning to cover this. This sounds amazing! Love the wooden-esqu, almost haunting sound at the beginning, before then erupting into sorrow.
I honestly wasn't expecting a remix of You're Not Alone, but you completely impressed me like you always do. Incredible work to go with an inspiring message, GaMetal.
This scene was the first time I ever cried at a game. This song has been on my request list for years and it's been worth every second of the wait. Thank you so much Jonny and keep rocking on.
Had an insanely shitty weekend and not much better of a Monday, but this just made my day. A GaMetal rendition of possibly my favorite Final Fantasy track is a delight, thanks so much.
I was really disappointed that we didn't get a remix of this song in Dawntrail (So far), so to have this happen instead is extremely appreciated. This is utterly fantastic.
probably will happen at some point, they generally go a bit harder on the reference for that expac's "inspiration" like how we got a remix of the Tantalus theme for the hideout. I just hope we get dark messenger during the raid series, I can't imagine the hype of Dark Messenger just slowly building up during a transition for a final turn fight, like the Extreme from ff8 build up to the actual boss.
I see a lot of comments about mood and listening to the music to overcome them in some way, and it's very true. The talent of Johnny is unparalleled, and what he gives to his fans is nothing short of audiological love. Serenading the soul of our nostalgia. I can not tell you the number of times I've put on my gaming music playlist - which is basically all from this channel - and rush back to music childhood in the 90s and classic SNES RPGs especially. A feeling that's hard to put into words. I hope this channel continues to grow and thrive and get all the success it deserves! ❤ Now... if only we can get Secret of Mana's "Danger" boss battle theme! 🏆
As soon as I saw the notification and the title of the video, I clicked on it faster than the speed of lightning! This is one *HEAVILY* emotional song from one of my personal favorite game of all time in the franchise! 😭 Thx, GaMetal, You really killing it with this version!
I'm not sure why the RUclips gods have decided to bless us with so much wonderful Final Fantasy IX music lately, but I am 10,000% here for it! This was a wonderful cover Jonny. I really think you did a wonderful job of keeping the core essence of what makes this song great but while still putting your own personal spin on it.
When I noticed it was Zidane at the end screen last time I really should have known it'd be this one next. Really glad to see the scenes in the back too, I've always loved the tune, but been a while since I've seen any of the scene that accompanied it. Reminds me why it's so impactful. Great cover as well of course.
Can't tell you the amount of joy I got when I saw this in my notifications. One of my Top 10 FF songs and my favorite of IX. No matter if its the original or this awesome cover it always hits me emontionally. Such a beautiful song. You really killed it with this cover
This month has been a real struggle for me. I've had bad sleep on some nights - sometimes even no sleep. Haven't known what to do with myself, at points. This upload...was unexpected. And just might have come at the best possible time. The reminder I think so many of us need at some point or another in our lives... _You're Not Alone!_ Right now, I can't afford to be alone. So I'm grateful for the reminder that I'm not. We all need that comrade that will follow us to kingdom come, if they must. "You remember that!" I shan't forget. But if I do, then just remind me. You...are _not alone._
Man this is EXACTLY what I needed! I played this game shortly after it came out, and I was 15 at the time. I had recently played through and beaten my first ever RPG, the legendary Final Fantasy 7. I had tried to play through FF8 but I just couldn't ever really get into it. FF9 was the opposite of my experience with FF8. I zipped through it in a matter of weeks, which is something that I had not done before with a game of this length and have not done since. This game just sucked me in and wouldn't let me go until I had finished it, and the one clear memory I have from that experience some near 25 years ago is watching Zidane nearly give up all hope, and then watching his companions come to him, one by one and one in all, assuring him in words and deeds that they never have lost faith in him and never have abandoned him. While all that was taking place, a most beautiful, inspiring, heart tugging piece of music was playing over and over again on loop, and I didn't ever want that piece of music or the scene that accompanied it to end. Bravo sir, and thank you!
INSANE PULL Probably my favorite Final Fantasy song - that isn't a boss theme, at least. That's partially due to how my brain connects it with the emotions of the scene, but it's also just an incredible song. Thank you for this cover!
@ghostlywinds5334 there's no confirmed release date, but Tsunamods (the creator of the mod) says it's being worked on. He even made a community post regarding it a while back
Ok this cover is glorious. Usually, when i hear a Not Alone cover, i feel like it misses the feeling its suppose to convey; even the distant world one. But you managed to do it, and adding your own touch to it. At least to my ears; i suppose it's worth something.
I’ve always stated that 5 and 6 were my favorites, with FF3 having a soft spot in my heart for a long time, and now FF14 giving me so much more to love about the entire franchise… but 9’s story truly was on another level I still struggle to confidently say the series surpassed in a single entry… and it still holds up to this day. Soon as I saw the Zidaine silouhette I was thinking it’d be Battle 2, maybe Battle 1, but You Are Not Alone is definitely up there as one of the best songs in the series along with the credits theme for. Keep on rockin’, Johnny!
Kartikeya trying once more on day 543. Oh look a countdown. Though this is interesting since Kartikeya played and beat FFIX for his first time ever on stream a few months ago. Now to hop in the shwoer.

I thought this was just gonna be Battle 2, but damn, you blew this one out of the water! I admittedly have not played Final Fantasy IX (More of a XIV guy myself), but this song really hit hard for me, mainly due to the music, but also the background footage with the characters motivating Zidane. That part really spoke to me, as someone who can be a little insecure about himself at times. Also, the final message was really important: Not just to me, but to everyone. There's always someone in this world who loves you, who cares for you, who thinks you matter. Don't ever forget that. You nailed this one, Jonny, and whatever F-Zero track is next, I will be there. 1. Awe of She (Guilty Gear X) 2. Balrog's Theme (Street Fighter II) 3. Airship Fortress (Mario Kart DS) 4. Pure Furies ~ Whereabouts of the Heart (Touhou 15: Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom) 9. Rage Awakened (Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix) 10. Soul Ablaze (Mega Man ZX Advent) 11. Ekoroshia (Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair) 12. Battle! Zero Lab (Pokemon Scarlet & Violet) 13. Unexpectancy (Pizza Tower) 14. World Tournament Theme (Dragon Ball Fusions) 15. Bust a Move! (Ginga Force)
This is absolutely my favorite track from Final Fantasy IX. There have been some very nice somber covers, like TPR's cover, but I like some of the alternative covers, too! Thanks much for your awesome work!
This scene has never left my memory, and the worst part is it feels more relevant than ever now. Going it alone just doesn't work all the time... And the next minute you know, you turn around to nobody left
Hearing this song reminds me of an old friend of mine I used to talk to years ago and she was a huge fan of Final Fantasy 9. She goes by the name Lindaru from RUclips, and she always hopes and wishes that Final Fantasy 9 gets a remake or an anime for she used to make fan made music based on that game like different remixes. She was a good friend to me, but she suffers so much due to her past trauma like she was bullied for example. I was always there for her doing my best to support her as her friend. I used to be her friend for 10 years but now we don't talk anymore since she has been going through a lot, but I haven't forgotten about her and the good times we had together. Even to this day, she still loves Final Fantasy 9 a lot and still hopes one of those two will come true. Final Fantasy 9 will always be one of my favorites of the Final Fantasy Series alongside 7. I know she will never be alone, and the same as I because I have real friends, my boyfriend and my loving family by my side. *Also I am still hoping for Cool Jam from KOF97 to be next soon. Please and thank you GaMetal.*
This means a lot to me, Jonny. I may not be much of an FF fan outside of VI & VII, but the title alone means everything to me. Been there man. Hang in there, shit gets better.
There myself man, take care of yourself and keep listening to good nostalgic music
Hang in there buddy, from experience it gets better.

you conveniently left out the sexual harassment
The bit where Zidane gets smacked down to 1hp and Dagger comes in with the curaga always gets me
"Chivalry requires a knight to look after his comrades in arms. I will not abandon you! And I shall follow you to kingdom come if I must. You remember that!" -Adelbert Steiner
To think this man hated Zidane when they first met. Best character growth in the game
@@jingo4754 So many people sleep on Steiner, but he really grew to be a real one
Steiner is the GOAT
Steiner is probably the best character in the whole game, narratively. Sure, he's FAR from the most likeable, but his character arc was second to none among the rest of the cast. Quite literally shouted "Fuck yeah!" when I checked my sub feed and saw this. *LOVE* this song.
Same

man, that whole scene where zidane is being down always really hits me hard. Never underestimate the bonds of friendship
Looks like we got our Final Fantasy cover for this year, and an appropriate pick, too. Take care of yourselves, everyone, because you are not alone.
"Chivalry requires a knight to look after his comrades in arms. I will not abandon you! And I'll follow you to kingdom come if I must! you remember that!"

This scene would not have been nearly as powerful without the music. That being said, next time I play, I'm muting the game and using this...
The best track from the absolute masterpiece that is FFIX
I honestly wasn't expecting a remix of You're Not Alone, but you completely impressed me like you always do. Incredible work to go with an inspiring message, GaMetal.
This scene was the first time I ever cried at a game. This song has been on my request list for years and it's been worth every second of the wait. Thank you so much Jonny and keep rocking on.
My favorite track from my favorite Final Fantasy... words will never express how excited I am for this
Such a heartbreaking song... But that's what makes it so good.
We were all so courageous.
My dreams will become a part of the sky.
I guess it's true that we all had a crappy life and bad days, but deep down in our hearts, we're never alone. ^__^
Had an insanely shitty weekend and not much better of a Monday, but this just made my day. A GaMetal rendition of possibly my favorite Final Fantasy track is a delight, thanks so much.

I wouldn't be surprised if FFXIV's latest expansion having FFIX call-backs and track covers had a hand in that 😅

PEEEEAAAAAK
I had a feeling it would be this song when I saw the Zidane silhouette
Speed Star speaking facts as always

Yes!!!! I've been expecting this for many years! Now... Just need Dark Messenger and I can die in peace

Good way to celebrate the upcoming release of Echo-S9, a voice acting mod for FF9!
When does this come out cause I'm so interested
@ghostlywinds5334 there's no confirmed release date, but Tsunamods (the creator of the mod) says it's being worked on. He even made a community post regarding it a while back
I was not prepared for the waterworks this morning. But what a wonderful job in this redition of Not Alone. Instant favorite
One of my favorite tracks from my favorite game of all time.
You gave me chills man, this song always gets me & your cover is 10/10 as always but definitely still sits in a special place in my heart.
Ok this cover is glorious. Usually, when i hear a Not Alone cover, i feel like it misses the feeling its suppose to convey; even the distant world one.
But you managed to do it, and adding your own touch to it. At least to my ears; i suppose it's worth something.
I was literally just listening to this yesterday. Love this song
One of my favorite FF songs ever!!! You did an awesome job with this!
What a pleasant surprise to see this morning, one of the most emotional moments in the FF series especially on the PS ones.
Amazing cover of one of my all time Final Fantasy songs ever. (Second to Roses of May, which I loved the acoustic version at the end.)
FF9 is one of my favorite games. I adore this cover.
Even if we lost to the gap hag, the request battle told me one thing: in my bid for Faith Is For The Transient People, I am Not Alone!
Then, I am not alone either. I'm requesting the same game series just like yours.
I know I'm gonna love it before even starting the video!
"Not Alone" is already one of my favourite tracks in FFIX!
Oh wow! My favourite FF track of al ltime. Thank you for doing this. You slayed it!
I was not expecting this masterpiece to drop. One of my all time favorite songs from FFIX. Truly incredible work as always good sir.
It's the first time I notice the Atma guitar and Holy hell that's awesome. Amazing choice for music too :') You absolutely rock man!
Spotting this as I was getting ready for work meant being slightly late for work - top stuff!
Um dos momentos mais dignos do mundo dos games e simplesmente impactante🥲 Obrigado Gametal. Big hug from 🇧🇷
Best music for the best game EVER
Kartikeya trying once more on day 543. Oh look a countdown. Though this is interesting since Kartikeya played and beat FFIX for his first time ever on stream a few months ago. Now to hop in the shwoer.
This is awesome as always. Glad to get some FF9 music. I would love if you did Roses of May (Beatrix's theme), that would rule.
Wow... I felt the soul in this one. I'm not sure what's taken me so long, but you've earned a new subscriber.
I was expecting any song. Hunter's chance, vammo alla flamenco, etc. Except this one. Marvelous.
Was not expecting this. Love it
The First final fantasy game i have ever played and my introduction to the franchise, i adore this game.
100 percent my favorite single moment in any media
We could say You're definitely not Alone !!! Goosebumps all the way here .. Truly reminds the power in the musix ! I love listening to all of your songs while working !!! Belle Job (Great Job) :)
This is amazing! Thanks for this beautiful piece of nostalgia.
"AND IM GONNA LIVE!!!"
My heart, this song always gets me 😭

Bro I love this so much
My and many other people's favorite moments in final fantasy
Thank you
Ahh The Walk of Self-Revelation and the War of Nature vs Nurture is being Waged in this Song alone when Zidane realizes he and Kuja are really not that much different I think that was the Core of the sorrow Zidane felt at that moment until finally Garnet(and optionally Quina) out of everyone before her/them got Zidane back to his senses that his ACTIONS is what Defines him not his creation Thank You So much Johnny for covering this representation of Zidane's Preempted Redemption of Character I Will always love the band of misfits that makes up the Party of Final Fantasy IX
That was always my favorit FF Track and now it is even better Thank You !!!
One of my favorites songs in videogames this sounds amazing ☺️👏
I thought this was just gonna be Battle 2, but damn, you blew this one out of the water! You nailed this one, Jonny, and whatever F-Zero track is next, I will be there.

This is absolutely my favorite track from Final Fantasy IX. There have been some very nice somber covers, like TPR's cover, but I like some of the alternative covers, too! Thanks much for your awesome work!
dude that guitar is sick
Are you kidding me?! Covering one of the most memorable tracks from my favorite Final Fantasy?
This was very good!
You're the absolute king of tasteful metal covers
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE BABY
THIS WAS SO PERFECTLY TIMED I LITERALLY JUST STARTED A NEW PLAYTHROUGH OF FF9. Def either my fav or my second fav final fantasy game💖
One of my all time favorites! 😢❤
Thank you!
HAHA!! Been listening to the orchestra version that i just found, at work the last few weeks, then this comes out out of nowhere. Talk about timing.
Just yes. What a treat!
F-Zero’s next!
Awesome work. You remixed my favourite track from Final Fantasy IX, and it turned out superbly.
Temazo!!! como todos los que haces!!!!
This scene has never left my memory, and the worst part is it feels more relevant than ever now. Going it alone just doesn't work all the time... And the next minute you know, you turn around to nobody left
This is awesome! Great work on this remix! Haven’t commented on this channel in a while but felt I had to for this!
Hits SO hard
LOVE THIS SONG!
damn this scene and this music still hit.
Underrated slow metal cover
Hearing this song reminds me of an old friend of mine I used to talk to years ago and she was a huge fan of Final Fantasy 9.
Maybe this is the time to drop her a line and direct her to this video
@BJGvideos i wish, but I can't talk to her anymore. I hope that if she does see this, I hope that what i said to her made her smile
