I agree trailers can either make or break a game. The best trailers make a sh*t game look amazing, but your very right HUD's ruin the immersion and music plays such a huge part. I enjoyed this video, well done mate. I made some of the trailers for Trepang2, some I thought went well, some not so much. and like some things listed here, I made some of them showcasing content that just wasnt in that area, but it suited the video and what I felt was nessasery to keep the flow. Some of the better ones are definitly the ones that have voice lines overlayed into the video, rather than just music.
Finally, some love given for Wolfenstein Youngblood’s trailers. Even if the game itself wasn’t great, the trailers were absolutely fantastic, and they got me into Carpenter Brut
@@Ommfe I liked it, but compared to the other entries it kinda felt barebones, the story wasnt really the main focus of it. I didn't even play with a friend and I still liked it, because Wolfenstein combat is good. I remember people going apeshit just because the game decide to have damage numbers so those kind of people started an uproar about it
I absolutely ADORE the trailer for "Stake Story", and I am DEFINITELY going to get it when it comes out, it looks so pretty, and looks VERY fun to play- "You are a demon made of glass, and pain." Such a cool line.
'Camera work' is probably one of the most important parts of making a trailer, so I wonder how 2D games can work around that "issue" without making too much extra content like animated cutscenes and such. Katana Zero has a pretty neat trailer for Nintendo Switch release (Launch Trailer). With about 50/50 gameplay to story ratio, unusually calm for the game music that slowly builds up, and no sound effects from the game until the very end - when the main character gets shot and wakes up (a sequence that isnt in the story, which I find neat) and we can hear the game again, followed by the title drop.
There are a lot of things that make a good game trailer for me. I think the most important one is setting the right mood for the game. The visuals, audio, and music should all come together to create a certain feeling about the game. It might just be because I’m partial towards more cinematic trailers but I think it’s just true in general.
The greatest game trailer ive seen is one from a small title that almost no one remembers, "Ring of Elysium" It does everything right, music, narration, setup, action, and all that fun stuff. sadly the game is SUPER dead now, but it really wasnt that fun as the trailer made it seem. Kinda sucks
A great trailer from an indie game is Crypt of the Necrodancer Early Access one : ruclips.net/video/Al8TlAtLu2Y/видео.html It follows a lot of principles you already talks about and managed to make a very pixelated game interesting to watch to most. It proves you can do a good trailer on a budget as well
hell yeah gaming

What was wrong with this game?
(I haven't played yet, just finished the previous trilogy, so I'm wondering if it's worth trying)

"Gun shots syncing with the music" should be a written rule for any fps game trailer, and i would love to see more essay videos from you.
