It's a mirror trick. It's hard to see but there are mirrors that run from the side of the door to the dark seam in the wall. They're angled in a way that makes the wall appear to continue behind a freestanding door. The other side of the mirrors make up the interior walls of Boo's room. If you look closely you can see the top of the mirror; switch to HD and watch 3:40-3:42 a few times. Look for the thin line that runs from the top of the freestanding door to the wall.

That one section of the ride reminds me a LOT of Men In Black. So much so that if the rest of the ride wasn't so good, it would *almost* be disappointing because it feels like so much of a knock-off.
