Hey Miles - I just wanted to say thanks for the amazing content. Also, I ordered an e7 because of this video and I let GS Music know that it was because of you promoting it. I hope it helps bring you the recognition you deserve. Cheers!
I recently bought the E7 from a retailer in the UK. It has a great personality and something about the VCO give it a very unique tone. I like the Moog-like knobs and how tactile the experience is. The oled screen display changes depending on which knob you touch, a nice modern function on an otherwise vintage feeling machine. Everything is well designed and feels sturdy and, importantly, it has presets. I see the 7 voices as one extra from 6 and a bonus rather than a limitation. It comes in very handy when playing supermassive epic pads. This video represents the sound of the synth really well.
That's good to hear LS, I am waiting for Juno t have them back in stock. I agree on the ergonomics. It looks very useable. I haven't been excited about a new synth in a long time but this sounds great.

Great machine, great price, great video. What GS needs is a distribution deal. Importing from Argentina (to the Netherlands) means a substantial added cost of shipping plus about 20% import tax on top of that. Anyway, a great machine such as this deserves to do well.
That's what we say in Argentina when we see great European synths that we need to import, haha, but with much more import tax, a 50% minimum. But it's true that the market is much bigger there; it makes much more sense to get a distribution deal. We also need to take into account that this comes from a small company, I'm sure they are working hard to increase production.
They now have a distributor in Spain. There is a link on the GS website! Two years European guarantee, two weeks return (but that’s a keeper I guess 😊). Should be easy to send to any place in the EU without any hassle.
This is very much Prophet 5/10 architectiure with some modulation touches of REV2. I love the sound of the ladder filter and I really think this one can be a workhorse as analog polysinth. Price wise it is way under Trigon, and still you get decent analogue poly with a ladder filter.
@@MilesAwayOfficial my only gripe is the lack of modulation i would love at least basic FM and poly-mod or x mod like modulation. Also heard (not experienced though) there is some buggyness in digital control - firmware update can sort that. Lack of mod, not really. I guess it comes to good sound of vco/ladder filter. That Chorus is useless and could ve been used for a mod matrix (the space I mean, see Super 6 for good Chorus:) But as you said - the next good thing, especially with the ladder filter is Trigon - 3.2 k quid. Excellent review! Can you advise how many presets it comes with? This or the Super 6? Which would you prefer and which is more immediate? I know they’re different; leaning towards this one
Unfortunately haven’t played a super 6 but it seems cool too! This will definitely sound more vintage I would think cause there’s really something in the OSCs. Presets it comes with several dozen factory programs and tons of empty banks (8x8x8). I barely even went through the presets cause it’s so easy to make your own sounds, but there were some nice ones. I think this is really a synth for making your own patches cause it’s very hands on like you said :)
@@MilesAwayOfficial Yeah, saw that to!c "Alas" I already own te analog poly AT mother of them all and am thus well covered in that department but I am already reccomending the E7 to friends.
This video/entire vibe of you and your channel is insanely dope. And I agree that it's nice to lose the screen and just focus on the synthesizer. Also, what frame are you using to hold the obx8, ob6, and prophet?
I feel like another close competitor would be the Take 5. It’s at a similar price point, albeit with 2 less voices and with a keyboard. Beyond that it is similarly spec’d. Take 5 has more modulation options and other bells and whistles while not taking up much more space given its compact size.
Play blinding lights on it 🙂 Blue and white leds are mischievous on synthesizers. Red is the correct color and also knobs and buttons should be black. The E7 sounds awesome though. On par with Super 6, Peak and rev2. Would love to have one. Thanks for the demo 👍 *EDIT* The Greyfaceplate with black knobs and blue buttons looks very very nice. Led mod with reds and i'm fcuking buying it! 🙂 *EDIT2* There's a darkfaceplate version on instagram with red leds. I'm ordering one! Or the Super6... can't decide... Thanks for the video
I see you have an OB-6 in the background, how do you think it stacks up against that? I have an OB-6 desktop, and I'm thinking of possibly selling it and getting a GS e7.... The patch around 9 minutes sounds pretty amazing, maybe more P6 territory since it obviously doesn't have the OB-6 sizzle, but I'm not worrying about that as I don't have a P6. Decisions, decisions! I don't make super complicated patches, but 2 extra LFOs and sub-osc per VCO seem very nice to have...
I like the OB-6 more because the SEM sound is my favourite thing ever, but the E-7 is just as well made, has more modulation and sounds just as vintage! If you like what you hear you can’t go wrong.
I have both and they complement each other very well so find something else to sell. The E7 has far nicer sounding VCOs to my ears and the OB6 has a slightly more beautiful and considerably more varied filter. I prefer the build quality of the E7. Another reason to keep both is that they are exactly the same width and look great sitting together, like brothers from a different mother.
It's beautiful, Both visually and sonically, this video alone has made me really want to buy one, But, is it just me or am I hearing some clicking at the beginning of the envelope some times ? @ 10:12 for example, right at the attack of the envelope
@@MilesAwayOfficial you don't find the gs to sound less dynamic and less note separation? I ordered the gs but canceled it because I think the pro 6 has the definition/dynamics. Also modern yet vintage sounding.
@@thecommonstaff8441 did you hear my full comparison of those 2 synths? Don’t get me wrong I really love the P6 and use it regularly, but I actually want to sell my P6 for a P5/10. The P6 is the easiest synth to mix in, you are right, but compared to stuff like the E7, OBX8, etc it lacks a bit of character and mojo for me. I think the P5 sound wise is the absolute top personally
@@MilesAwayOfficial p5 is an earthy sounding machine bro. I sold mine however. It lacked alot of modern features for a hefty price tag. Either way probably the best sounding synth I've had along with the matriarch
I really want one analog poly synth for my collection. I’ve had my eye on this and an ob-6. Price is an issue so I’m leaning towards this. Any advice? I know the ob has a lot to offer.
They sound completely different but both are great! Build quality on this is up there with the best of any synth I own, and the company was great to deal with. BUT if you love the OB sound like me, nothing else gets you there. You can’t go wrong with either!
@@Matt4star absolutely! Juno sounds are all by nature very simple so yes it can, but it’s gonna sound a bit more dirty/wild than the Juno, which I think is a good thing actually. Also the E7 chorus isn’t as nice as the analog Juno chorus so you should find a chorus pedal plug-in you really like to emulate it if you wanna get really accurate!
@@MilesAwayOfficial I think as far as it goes with out the fx, it still fits what I want. I’m a boutique guy and a use abelton. This should fit right in :) thanks for all the input.
this one looks very nice. i have a super 6, and i love it, but i feel like i want a synth with some vco for even more analog sound, for some reason. been looking at the ob-x8, prophet 10, and even the moog one. after i saw ur video on the 3rd wave i been seriously considering it that one to fill my analog hole as well. but now this one pops up, which makes everything even harder, haha. this one looks good for its price, but im just wondering if i will still want one of them high end synths after buying this, or if it will fill my hole, so to say. and for this case, money is not an issue, i can afford them all. any thoughts? ;D buying several synths could also be an option, but im trying to avoid getting too many to save some studio space. i can also say that my use will be in studio as a full time producer, often with random clients, so versatility will also be a huge plus.
That's a tough choice. If you want my honest opinion (studio tour coming soon), the synths I use the most are the OB-6, 3rd Wave, and OBX8, in that order. Stuff like the GS E7 , Matriarch, Syntrx etc I love them, and use them on some songs, the sound quality is absolutely equal to the Sequential/Groove stuff. But for me, the complete package of the Sequential/Groove/OB synths is just the best on the market. If you can get anything and price is no issue I'd personally check out one of those first. But a combo of E7 and 3rd Wave Desktop could be insanely powerful too if you don't need the keyboards.
@@MilesAwayOfficial thanks for ur input, helpa alot! i been thinking some more and might be going moog one and the a 3rd wave later on. its an overkill for sure, but yolo 🥰
@@MilesAwayOfficial wanted the 3rd wave badly, but the price was making me nauseous.....that said, I've got the M and the E7 is on its way! Should sound wild.
Hi, Im pretty new when it comes to analog synths and overall analog.. Im a sucker for Arpigiators and I wonder if any of you guys know if it's possible to ad an Arp-pedal to the G7? btw, I really enjoy this review of the GS E7 thanks for that Miles!
The E7 takes standard midi and usb midi, so any midi sequencer or even a laptop with a USB cable will work to sequence it/make arpeggios. I'd advise against buying an Arp Pedal, they are gimmicky. Get a good sequencer, or if you only want an arpeggiator, hook up the E7 to your computer or even tablet over midi and use a DAW !
@@floen Yeah, I read at test in a German magazine since then. Excellent value for people who are looking for a reasonably affordable hardware synth with a CS 80 style organic sound.
Hey Miles! If I’m buying my first synth and will have only one for a while, Would you recommend the E7? Or should I go with something like the Prophet 6 or OB-6? I already have a lot of amazing soft synths so trying to expand into analogue/hardware for the first time ever. I make music for film and enjoy Stranger Things and Blade Runner
Any of those are great options and will boil down to personal sound preference! Sound wise I like the OB-6 and the GS E-7 more than the Prophet 6, but the Prophet 6 is probably the most swiss army knife sound of the 3, it works in every genre and is a good first/only synth. GS music has the nicest sounding oscillators, but the OB-6 has the best filter by far imo. I have videos on all 3 synths, I'd recommend watching all 3 reviews, and then making your choice :) lemme know any other questions
haha for real. I will say that I'm an Oberheim guy above anything else, but this sounds different enough in a great way that I am definitely keeping both!
I will always be honest, the Oberheim sound is my absolute fave so I prefer the raw tone of the OB-6 / OB-X8 slightly to this just cause of the filter, but this thing can absolutely hang with them. E7 and Ob-6 both have this wildness/rawness that a lot of modern synths and VSTs are missing where every oscillator sort of gels together and fits. Price wise, E7 definitely wins, its fairly priced for what you get.
@@MilesAwayOfficial Agreed. But we live in 2023 and there is no more justification to put out 8-voice synths because technology alows it. It's not like back in the 70's or 80's ( an era I come from...) If it would have been 2x 8-voice, it would have been double fat. That is why I have 2x Oberheim M1000... 🙂
OB-6 is my desert island synth. But it's also more expensive and sounds more fizzy/less warm than this. This is more like a Prophet 6 or a polyphonic Moog than an OB.
@@MilesAwayOfficial You ve got OB there - that Prophet modulation architecture is great for cross mod and if done well, even further - say instead of chorus, they added extra envelope that can cycle and 3 simple mod destinations - cuttoff and frequencies for both oscillators. Would be perfect, I think i would already get it. I like the aesthetics too. It's just that chorus looks like big deal and its tiny in sound and it's just wasting space. You are right, it could use distortion. The ladder sound is perfect for some chunchiness.
Totally not underrated by myself - seen this before. Excellent job on sound, UI, and the voice allocation modes/multi-temporality. I hope a US & European based retailer will become a distributor - it would encourage more sales for sure - requires scaling up production I guess.. or maybe they just want to keep it niche/super boutique. (OB6 desktop can be found used under 2KUSD or 2400 new - probably the closest alternative in price.) I wish them luck with it.
Did anyone rate it poorly? People keep, using underrated to mean not known about, even though the word is about people who have seen it and how they rate it...
I would say it's more unknown than underrated
yeah totally unknown really
I hadn’t heard of it before I got mine.
There's a correlation between the two things. And even some causation.

Thanks so much for the kind words! The stand I don’t know the brand unfortunately, I got it used from Craigslist years ago
@@MilesAwayOfficial no worries, I ended up getting one ☝🏻
I feel like another close competitor would be the Take 5. It’s at a similar price point, albeit with 2 less voices and with a keyboard. Beyond that it is similarly spec’d. Take 5 has more modulation options and other bells and whistles while not taking up much more space given its compact size.
Good comment! I haven't but I'd really like to try it, on the lookout for a rental unit. It seems great.
The new poly analogue from behringer is out.
I will try to get my hands on one to review if they don't sell out!
Play blinding lights on it 🙂 Blue and white leds are mischievous on synthesizers. Red is the correct color and also knobs and buttons should be black. The E7 sounds awesome though. On par with Super 6, Peak and rev2. Would love to have one. Thanks for the demo
👍
*EDIT* The Greyfaceplate with black knobs and blue buttons looks very very nice. Led mod with reds and i'm fcuking buying it! 🙂
*EDIT2* There's a darkfaceplate version on instagram with red leds. I'm ordering one! Or the Super6... can't decide... Thanks for the video
That’s a really hard choice man! I love the E7 but the Super 6 is one of my dream synths as well
I see you have an OB-6 in the background, how do you think it stacks up against that?
Shit... so tempted. Beautiful sounds and demo
Thanks!
It's beautiful, Both visually and sonically, this video alone has made me really want to buy one, But, is it just me or am I hearing some clicking at the beginning of the envelope some times ? @ 10:12 for example, right at the attack of the envelope
Thanks so much! It is great sounding. Yea the envelopes only click when fully to the 0 position. That's programmer error on my part.
If you had to have one. Which one between the prophet 6 or gs
GS Music E7!
@@MilesAwayOfficial you don't find the gs to sound less dynamic and less note separation? I ordered the gs but canceled it because I think the pro 6 has the definition/dynamics. Also modern yet vintage sounding.
@@thecommonstaff8441Compared to the e7 the P6 sounds like a VST.
@@MilesAwayOfficial the gs just looks really clean to me. Can it replicate Juno sounds? From what I’ve heard it seems like it has the possibilities.
@@Matt4star amazing! You are gonna love it! Seriously an awesome synth. :)
this one looks very nice. i have a super 6, and i love it, but i feel like i want a synth with some vco for even more analog sound, for some reason. been looking at the ob-x8, prophet 10, and even the moog one. after i saw ur video on the 3rd wave i been seriously considering it that one to fill my analog hole as well. but now this one pops up, which makes everything even harder, haha. this one looks good for its price, but im just wondering if i will still want one of them high end synths after buying this, or if it will fill my hole, so to say. and for this case, money is not an issue, i can afford them all. any thoughts? ;D buying several synths could also be an option, but im trying to avoid getting too many to save some studio space. i can also say that my use will be in studio as a full time producer, often with random clients, so versatility will also be a huge plus.
Nice video! What synth stand do you use in your studio?
Bought it without a label off craigslist years ago, sorry!
A great sounding synth indeed. Does it process poly AT? I am a sucker for poly AT.
It's MPE comptible, which includes poly AT.
@@floen Yeah, I read at test in a German magazine since then. Excellent value for people who are looking for a reasonably affordable hardware synth with a CS 80 style organic sound.
I'd love to hear this in a shootout against your OBX8!
They sound really different because of the filters! But the oscillators on this totally hold up to as good
Different beasts 👍🏻
Thanks Miles! Appreciate your advice and love your channel! It’s been immensely helpful in this search for my first synth
Boaahhh... very dramatic sound. Analog synths are the best! :-)
Agreed!
No love for the Novation Summit?
I've done 2 videos and a Custom Patch Bank on the Novation Summit, check em out! Awesome synth.
That this was able to distract your from your new Oberheim says something about it.
haha for real. I will say that I'm an Oberheim guy above anything else, but this sounds different enough in a great way that I am definitely keeping both!
It’s very nice .. if I didn’t need mpe. Keyboard I might Have looked at it before buying my much loved Rev2
The synth supports MPE! I just don’t have an MPE controller sadly
@@MilesAwayOfficial it’s ok thank you so much for making me aware of these beast .. if I see 1. 2nd hand I might be tempted.
2600m video coming?
yep! eventually! lots of other stuff I'm working on first and I wanna do the 2600 video properly cause its a legend
Wonderful 👐 👽
Thanks as always for supporting!
Let me know if you’re selling it. I’m in Vancouver.
Appreciate the offer but gonna hold onto this guy!
Why is your room so blue? White balance?
Blue neon desk lights and light blue / grey paint
Ok… Now I’m seriously gassing for this box…
It's pretty amazing tbh!
Hey man, would you say its underpriced? and how would you compare it to an ob-6 for example in terms of sound specifically?
I will always be honest, the Oberheim sound is my absolute fave so I prefer the raw tone of the OB-6 / OB-X8 slightly to this just cause of the filter, but this thing can absolutely hang with them. E7 and Ob-6 both have this wildness/rawness that a lot of modern synths and VSTs are missing where every oscillator sort of gels together and fits. Price wise, E7 definitely wins, its fairly priced for what you get.
Man! Those pad are so full and strong.
yea! it's one of the best for pads I've tried
How would you compare it to a Prophet Rev 2?
I've never owned a rev 2 unfortunately! But it's quite similar to my Prophet 6
Nice sounds, but only 8 voice is not enough. If I put my Summit next to it, the GS E7 becomes rather pale...
VCO synths usually have less voices than Digital Oscillators! I love my Summit too, but this sounds completely different.
@@sK3LeTvM1i think i’m with you. how are you on the the behringer ubxa 16voice?
No phase sync? Or is it hidden in a menu?
Lfo phase sync is there! In a menu. I just love the default poly lfo mode :)
@@MilesAwayOfficial My bad, I meant vco phase sync, like on the prophet 5, JP8, Memory Moog, all the Oberheims etc. Is that on a menu as well?
Nice vid, but there was an advert every 30 seconds. Is it normal?
hmm - that sounds like a RUclips issue, I just have the normal monetization settings on my channel. Thanks for watching either way!
Thoughts on this vs ob-6?
OB-6 is my desert island synth. But it's also more expensive and sounds more fizzy/less warm than this. This is more like a Prophet 6 or a polyphonic Moog than an OB.
Yo, did somebody get an ARP 2600M?
Sick. You’ll do a video on it at some point, right?
Good catch! Yes absolutely, full video coming in January, I've got a packed video schedule til then but stay tuned :)
It’s amazing ….
Definitely 👽
Wow ✨
Much love!
This thing is missing some kind of mod matrix and at least smt like poly-mod or x mod that would allow for fm and deeper modulation.
Agree I miss no FM / cross mod but I really like the no menu diving approach to modulation.
Does the multitimbral allow for different midi channels for each timbre or is it only for stacking as showing in the video?
You can do different midi channels and/or key zones for each layer! It's quite full featured.
how much of this sound is from your external effects....
Big Sky is only used when I'm doing sound demos/demo song. For all the raw tone demos and creating a patch it's the synth 100% dry
Thanks for the demo. It does sound great.
Thanks for watching!
@@MilesAwayOfficial My pleasure.
Wonderfull.
thanks
You are always right 😊 Wow 😃 what a Demo 👌🤩 Absolutely Beautiful Sounds 💯 Amazing Synth 🔥 shout out to Ruffles too 😅 😍 🙌
Haha thanks Jay! Shout out Ruffles 😅
Oh!Thanks !You have a lot of Dave Smith tools.
Compare DS rev 2 -8.
It seems that the result may surprise...
I'd like to! I've been trying to find a rental/loaner
Thumbs up for the cat 👍🙂 Love cats...oh right the synth is not to shabby either.
Cats are the best! Ruffles the cat will return soon haha
Sounds are up there. Going to be a sleeper.
