The day will come when the six northern counties will be returned in its entirety to the Irish people's, whether you Catholic or Prod I don't care. An Irishman is my brother and if you identify as British that's okay but when we take our six counties back and the dream of a sovereign 32 county all Irish state is achieved, you will face a hard choice. the song that is playing at the end is the tuifelslied, which is actually a bunch of songs with that melody, which is actually for waffen ss and ss units in ww2 however, knowing how many ex waffen ss soldiers joined the legion after ww2 to get sanctuary and a new identity, it is not unthinkable that a new song was made with that melody by these ex ss men, it may be controversial but hell it sounds awesome

At the risk of being crude and without any insults or hate towards you or women, no female contingents have ever fared well in battle, especially the type of battles the Legion conducts. The deserts, the mountains, the cold, the heat and the enemy will never be more kind because you're a woman. The lone fact that women have periods puts them at a disadvantage in any long lasting battle. Besides that, I get your wish, I just say why I think the Legion doesn't have a women's corps.
@@arwidsson3676 I fully understand. And no I don't think you're wrong to point that out I think you're being practical. They could check the period thing with hormone shots for women but then that still would not be very good or feasible. Women usually do not have the physical strength of men to do that kind of work. I have 2 friends of mine who are Army Rangers who both said that they'd never thought that would happen either it wasn't that they were against women is just that it's not a practical thing to have women and special forces alongside men. But I just think there could be some sort of women's division you know whether they A support role a medical role something like that. The Israeli military has women I just don't know much about it. May I also say I know several women who I would consider to be the Warrior type who would work their hardest to get in . However many women in the military are not Warrior types that is the truth.
@@nancyoffenhiser4916 US military statistics have shown that mixed-gender squads perform worse than male-only squads. It is just a biological fact, women are weaker and have more fat than muscle and a less mechanical body. In the Legion, one of the marches requires you to carry 40KGs of equipment while walking up a hill. If you put that weight down to let's say 20KGs so that a somewhat strong woman can carry, you're already making it easier and a softer recruit when compared to men.
@@van-sx1332 Agreed. In one of my previous replies I said that I wished that women could have some sort of support role. I know it will never happen, and I can't explain why this has always interested me, but it does. teller12 Just because their leadership sucks, doesn’t mean that their organization isn’t populated by hard asses. How does that saying go? Lions led by lambs?
We have to understand one thing, Thomas is a good guy ,but at 4'30 he did'nt tell all the truth...in Europe , for any administration , it's very easy to obtain your " justice file " ...In France for example it's called : " B2 file "...and if you want to join the army , the police or the education ( teacher , professor ) ...etc., it's automatically required....so now , when a guy came from Nepal , south america , Azerbaidjan , Vanuatu or Papua New Guinea and even England or States it's impossible for the legion recruiting service to get your justice file .... 1) it's a question of time ( they can't wait one month or more to know if they can enlist you ). 2) in lot of countries it simply doesn't exist and there's not even an identity registration and card ( Malawi , Angola , Mali etc...)...Even in the U.S.A you can change easily your name on driving license.. 3 ) The Legion recruiting officer does not asked you any paper or file of justice court ( just a passport or an i.d and sometimes absolutely nothing )...they simply don't mind....as Thomas said , you can come with your army file ( ex-marine or royal commando as an officer ) they don't mind...You start from zéro as a simple " legionnaire ". When you become a legionnaire , you're already dead...the guy you were is dead....that's the truth , believe me.
@Lucas g I guess you don't know much about the legion with such a fruit cake reply... If you know anything about the legion you should know the code of honor, than you knew that retreat is not an option, the mission is sacred even if that means on the cost of your life! But then again why am I trying to explain this to someone that has not the ball's to be an elite soldier, but rather breaks something down behind his PC he actually knows shit about😑 More Majorum
Sir appreciate your helping ... I jus want to ask one question Once we knock the gate of entrance legionary how long does it to take the process till finish??? ( Like dayz )
I had the opportunity to train alongside the FFL on two occasions while I was in the US Army. They were a joke. Poor and nonsensical tactics, unnecessary hazing and physical troop abuse, and lots of homosexual sexual abuse. I mean a lot! Any prospective soldier will do better joining his home country’s armed forces.
i disagree, i served in the dutch royal marines, and spent in total a couple months alongside the FFL. Also spent the same time around the US marines, british royal marines, and others. the FFL was always at the front of the pack with the best
Liverpool 11 not true. The commonwealth recruitment doesn’t exist anymore and those still in were grandfathered in the system, and if they leave they cannot rejoin. Basically you need to have resided 5 years in the UK, so practically you have to be a citizen.
What about smaller former "military" gear one still owns like compass, lamp, pacebeads, multitool, swiss army knife, sniper veil, boot insoles, pocket warmers, Ifak/TQs and things for recovery like benzoin, rubbing alcohol from mountain pines (Franzbranntwein) and ballistol? Thanks for your time it`s educating and entertaining.
Keep? So i won`t get it back? My guess was that only bigger (e.g. boots, sleeka, berghaus) and dangerous stuff (weapons of any kind, keys/picks, creditcard, phone ...) are not allowed/restricted depending on the company commander. My guess is almost everyone who has served has smaller goodies which make life easyer and which might only be prohibited when you do courses / stages (e.g. survival/SERE stuff). In my military i got the "good" trauma first aid stuff officially only when there was first aid training and not when there could be the case that you might need it (e.g. on ranges, guard duty) if you were at home / not deployed. It`s anyway not the worst idea to supply oneself with this and a bubu kit. The recovery things are worth their weight in gold also. Especially in basic and on stages/courses.

Look at any combat footage of soldiers with their shirts off...US Marines in WW2 Pacific theater or Soviets in Afghan summers....99% are average height & build, but wiry bastards. Training is hard work, so fat burns away despite average-to-large amounts of caloric intake per day. The FFL or any military organization are not going to feed and train you to look like Mr. Universe, but to keep you on your feet and working when 99% of everyone else would drop from exhaustion. Endurance is the key, not physical strength.
Mr Gast If I fly to FFL I will need to bring my mobile phone, drivers license and military ID. Will they be taken from me during selection? Will I get it back after selection if I pass? If I fail? Thank you sir! I am not the one who asked the question about having flatfeet but I have flatfeet myself and was really worried it would get me disqualified.
I have a good question;
Sir, If I have had a military trade in my previous service I.e. Sniper, Medic, bomb disposal' would I be able to use these certificate trades as a leigonaire?
Yes you can!
Hello. Love your content. I'm coming to apply in 2 months. I have 1 question. Am I allowed to carry and consume protein powder,Modafinil and CBD?
Modafinil is french
I'm northern Irish and I'm thinking of joining but I don't want to be running around making coffee for NCOs. Am I likely to be deployed, and If so when and where? Also is there a height requirement as I am only 5'10
@Luke Perret ok thanks
there is no height requirement, the only requirement is that you need to be a male with a BMI between 20 and 30.
Oran5/Dale id be keen on chatting to you privately, I’m from Tyrone and keen on joining up in mid summer time
Wouldn’t mind a mate or 2 to travel with over there,m and to hopefully train with, good to have someone with something in common with and to help make coffee for Caporal Chef!
Oran5 5 let me clarify an item for you. Protestantism is your religious belief, not your nationality... I was raised to look past sectarianism and look toward unity amongst Irish people. we have spilled enough Irish blood over such views and its up to the generation of the day to be the change that will unite us so that we may rise...
Hi, thank you for your video. I just have one question. I have a 5150 due to high intoxication and I’m trying to fight in the court of getting it removed. If all goes well, will I be able to join the FFL?? I can not have access of firearm for five years. Again, I’m trying to regain my firearm back.
Hello Thomas. Would it be a problem if I am 28-30 when I join?
17yrs 6 months to 39 years 6 months is the acceptable age range.
I'd also be curious to join, as I'll be around 30-ish when I'll attempt.
@Dirty Jack i'm also 30 next year when i'll drop to give it a shot. I don't think that's a problem
I'm just worried they might overlook the motivation I have to join simply because of my age. Best of luck to you buddy.
Is it possible to join as a veteran of the American marines?
Brief and clear, how it should be.
I was once injured I tore my ligament in my shoulder so I had surgery can I still be a candidate for the legion I am fast and strong and loyal will this injury band me
Well you have to learn to speak french. You haven't mastered English yet.

Are the legionnaires still taking applicants in 2021? I haven’t heard much from you, lately.
Yes they are, you can check the official website online, there have been 1,600 recruits in 2021 (and it’s in france not online recruitment)
Lol they never stop. There are lean years and there are fat years, but the Legion always recruits
Really so good information air ❤️❤️❤️😘😘
Thank you
That outro was amazing. It encourages me to keep focused on joining the Legion.
But Thomas Gast, I do have a question here:
I am Mormon, and I have strong moral values. When I am in the Legion, is it a problem if I don't believe in drinking, prostitution, smoking, among other things? I believe 'Live and let live' but for myself I will follow my own values; I don't judge others
Yes, thank you. This is what I figured, I've expected nothing less; being viewed as strange is a medicine I'm already used to. My decision to join the Legion is still burning in my heart. I will go
I dont understand why as a Mormon you want to join the Legion, ... as far as I know its not allowed for your people to kill other people
(Mormon religion).
British are now reducing gurkha personel, can gurkhas participate on french foreign legion?
Read the requirements, and it’ll answer your question ,stop being lazy and do your research
Another great one!!
Q. What should I know before I join the French Foreign Legion?
A. Do I like Frog Legs!
the song that is playing at the end is the tuifelslied, which is actually a bunch of songs with that melody, which is actually for waffen ss and ss units in ww2
however, knowing how many ex waffen ss soldiers joined the legion after ww2 to get sanctuary and a new identity, it is not unthinkable that a new song was made with that melody by these ex ss men, it may be controversial but hell it sounds awesome
Super Video!!! Sehr interessant

I’m Irish I was thinking of either joining the foreign legion or an Irish regiment in the British army - I don’t want to join the Irish army as it is only peacekeeping - anyone have any suggestions on who to join - I know no french
SHäge it depends mate, both The Irish Guards and Royal Irish are excellent infantry outfits but the british recruiting process is tedious and long, i was rejected on the grounds of having flat feet when i applied for the Royal Irish. Personally, i would caution on serving in the british army depending on where youre from (Im from Tyrone)
Also note that the british army is facing big cut backs and my mates in the army cannot wait to leave because theres a culture of shit, illogical leadership and indescipline since Afghanistan finished, the same could be said for the FFL but atleast with the FFL youre pretty much guarenteed atleast 1 deployment
odhran gormley thanks for the advice
Shoot me a message if you want to talk more, im considering joining too
SHäge -- French language classes are given during training.
odhran gormley sure
The tune of that song is "SS Marchiert in Feindesland". No matter either way.......
I wish they had a Women's Division. I have wanted to be a Legionairre since I was a little girl. Sounds crazy but still....
Even thought I am a feminist I am a realist, there are just some places cant be and things that a woman cannot do because of her physical nature.
I Must admit I did enjoy Brad Thor's Athena Project! Happy New Year!
@@nancyoffenhiser4916 sorry to say women cant compete with man. i suggest going to isreal if you are serious or army 160th soar. basically spec ops pilot. i think some women have made it but rangers or berets yeah sorry no chance. 160th is awsome i would say look it up. spec ops pilot what a high speed awsome job.

The legion isn’t la legion anymore. It died in 2011 post Afghanistan. Don’t join unless you want to run around making coffee for the NCO’s
your response to his painful statement sounds fanciful, I'm afraid. I can't believe anything noble or traditionally masculine can exist in the Europe of Merkel (her hag defense minister), the French panty waist, snaggle-toothed May - and all the white guilt, sissified eunuchs that serve these women.
teller12 Just because their leadership sucks, doesn’t mean that their organization isn’t populated by hard asses. How does that saying go? Lions led by lambs?
with enough left wing political takeover, ANY institution can be destroyed. destruction is their business. they can't rebuild without destruction.
What should you know before you join the French Foreign Legion "HOW TO SURRENDER"
the frogs are gonna get butthurt

@Lucas g I guess you don't know much about the legion with such a fruit cake reply... If you know anything about the legion you should know the code of honor, than you knew that retreat is not an option, the mission is sacred even if that means on the cost of your life! But then again why am I trying to explain this to someone that has not the ball's to be an elite soldier, but rather breaks something down behind his PC he actually knows shit about😑 More Majorum
Sir appreciate your helping ...
I jus want to ask one question
Once we knock the gate of entrance legionary how long does it to take the process till finish??? ( Like dayz )
I had the opportunity to train alongside the FFL on two occasions while I was in the US Army. They were a joke. Poor and nonsensical tactics, unnecessary hazing and physical troop abuse, and lots of homosexual sexual abuse. I mean a lot! Any prospective soldier will do better joining his home country’s armed forces.
i disagree, i served in the dutch royal marines, and spent in total a couple months alongside the FFL. Also spent the same time around the US marines, british royal marines, and others. the FFL was always at the front of the pack with the best
amazing to me how there's always this drastic split of opinion! If I was of age and considering it, it would drive me crazy. Interesting.
Gosh people ask super dumb questions lol

Just because you aren't all swoll like a bodybuilder doesn't mean you aren't strong. Endurance is the key, not physical strength.
thank you very much, merci beacup
Mr Gast
If I fly to FFL I will need to bring my mobile phone, drivers license and military ID. Will they be taken from me during selection? Will I get it back after selection if I pass? If I fail? I have a normal life in Sweden, with an apartment, family, job etc. If I manage to pass selection I will have to deal with those things, is that possible? I dont want to quit my job, break with my family and get rid of my apartment only to fail the selection in France. How does it work?
