    Steven, you are very good at this. Just your supporting nature and your ability to deliver respectful honest truth is something that so many have trouble with.

    Couple of comments/questions
    - crash video, re grabbing the wrong end of the bar. Don't you find Core's color scheme makes it harder to know which end to grab in an emergency? I've had the bar slipping off my fingers on occasion during loops and I always feel like I need extra time to make sure I'm grabbing the correct side because black on white vs white on black just isn't that intuitive. I've often thought about putting some big red marker on the left part of the bar. If I'm not the only one feeling like this, you could mention it to core.
    - re sheeting the bar out in flight. You know best but I thought sheeting the bar out a bit actually increased hangtime in straight jump (decreased drag) and was actually required during the recovery phase of a loop to let the kite climb faster.
    Love the master class series.
    Looking forward to the next one :)

      Hey David
      Thanks for watching and supporting the videos.
      Concerning the bar:
      I've heard it before that the white/black and yellow/white don't deliver enough contrast or clarity. I personally don't really have trouble with this as I developed a work around. I look at the floaters and the color of the underlying line. Yellow is always left.
      Have a look at the new bar with the Red stripe on the backside. I believe this will solve the problem. corekites.com/us/bars/sensor-3
      Sheeting the bar out can help in certain moments. For instance with the recovery after the kiteloop. But if you're bar is set up proper you should keep it all the way down until you've hit the highest part of the jump. After this you could depower slightly to speed up the flying of the kite and therefor maybe increase hangtime. (Most of the time it won't)
      I'm planning to do a bar trimming video soon.
      Hope this answers some of your questions.

      @@stevenakkersdijk Thanks Steven. I don't find looking at a thin pale line in the middle of a maneuver very helpful. Besides, the yellow has completely discolored on my left line (lots of sun here) so it's basically white (which, btw, doesn't happen with other bar brands, Core should look at the quality of their dye). I'll look at the new bar, I wish core would sell a red (or orange or whatever) float as my bar is quite new.
      Re sheeting, doesn't that depend on how your bar is trimmed? If it's trimmed more for unhooked then your sweet spot is pretty much at the bar, but if it's big air your sweet spot is in the upper third of the throw and keeping it sheeted all in has a tendency to slow the kite down.
      Looking forward to your trimming insights 😊

    • @stevenakkersdijk
      @stevenakkersdijk  4 года назад +1

      @@davidflusin5705 nice, you did your research. I think that everyone has a slightly different approach to the trim. No backstall for unhooked is pretty universal, but not everyone gives there kite extra power for big air.
      I do give the kite extra power but only a little bit, so to say the sweet spot is in the upper third would be a bit much for my setup. Mine would be about 5cm sheeted out from full power.
      For your current bar, maybe find some red tape that you could wind around a part of your floater. This wouldnt be a highly visual contrast and if it gets pale you could just replace it.
      As mentioned before I dont really have a problem with it, so I wouldnt know anything else.
      I don't think that changing the used dye will have a direct impact on the fade of the bar. This is probably a combination of materials, and colors. As our bar has a soft material it will also fade a lot faster vs for instance other brands.

    Thank you very much Steven for the effort you have put to put this videos together and edit it. I have learned a lot from all that!
    Concerning downloop for landing Did I understood well your explanation if I say that: I will keep the the bar all the way in before and during the downloop and once the downloop completed than release the bar to let the kite breath?

    • @stevenakkersdijk
      @stevenakkersdijk  4 года назад +1

      Glad that it helped you out!
      Yes you understood that correctly, if you do it like that it should work out perfect.
      There is a chance that your kite doesn't downloop nicely if it's to powered up (in that case just depower the kite a little bit)

    Hey Steven
    I was wondering: if you do a kiteloop board off, you'll have to do the board off with your front hand. But how do you practice that? When I practice board offs I do it with the back hand so the front can stear the kite down. I'm not sure it'll be easy just switching hand ! Cheers:)

    • @stevenakkersdijk
      @stevenakkersdijk  4 года назад +2

      Hey Clement.
      You're completely right. One thing that you could do is start practising boardoffs to the bad side or you'll have to start doing kiteloops to your bad side. Like that you'll be able to use the trained hand.
      Another option is to start trying the "moonwalk" boardoff. Let's say you jump riding to the left. For the jump you would steer the kite right and jump, just before the apex you yank your kite left and use your front hand for a boardoff. On your way down you downloop right for the landing.
      Hope this helps

    sweet video !
    do you jump high to one or both sides and do you loop both sides too with same hight ?

    • @stevenakkersdijk
      @stevenakkersdijk  4 года назад

      I used to have a preference to which side I would jump (right was my good side), but due to competition I had to adjust and get good on both sides. (King of the air is a lot about left foot forward) .
      At the moment I'll jump both sides quite similar, especially on flat water. But I do have a preference for rotations.
      Back rotations: going right
      Front rotations: going left
      Thanks for your support!
      Cheers Steven

      Something you can try to control the steering a little bit better is riding with one hand and steering the kite up and down in the wind window.
      Keep on shredding man!
