This is the Texas, and these are the kind of people I think of when I think of Texas.
I'm from Kilgore and we love these gals, and Ben! Their dad, Mac as he was known to most of us, was a great man. You don't need to take my word for it, just listen to his girls and how they carry themselves and there love of God and sharing it with others. Ya'll have made your daddy proud. Keep up the good work and may God continue to bless ya'll!!!
Andy Baxter Do they still sell peas and sing? Just curious because my MIL lives in Kilgore, and I visit sometimes. I am originally from Longview, but moved away last year. I would love to buy from them, and listen to them play. TIA.

I love Katy and Penny. I've had them play at my Church several times. They are awesome and my two girls look up to them.
What wonderful daughters , I'm sure their Daddy is looking down and feeling very proud.

Immortality will be the reward to live with our Savior forever. Until then we are sleeping as for a little moment. God bless our search for Him in His holy word ❣️

These are 2 amazing ladies their dad must have been very proud and loved his daughters very much they remind me so much of my 2 daughters I know they would be there for their daddy too
They played at church here in Whitehall Tx, it was really something. All the best and wish Texas produced more people like this.

Just heard them in Bellville at Coushatte Ranch. Fantastic Musicians. Heard their story about their Dad. Happy to see them in God's hands working the farm, and playing the music too.

Wonderful story girls! I lost my Daddy in 2010 after only a 16 day battle with cancer from the day he was diagnosed to the day he was gone. Also, he was never a farmer but sold farm parts his whole life and knew many farmers just like your Dad all over Northeast Louisiana. When I grew up and lived in a home of my own I decided to grow a large garden a by myself with absolutely no knowledge of how to grow a garden! Daddy was sick and walked with a cane at this point due to strokes but never missed the opportunity to sit in the shade at the end of my rows and give me pointers and just be there to be proud of his oldest, single girl that he suddenly started called the "baby"! Thanks for sharing your story! By the way, I know people in y'alls town!
Great family, I wish we could see more like these. I lived in east Texas when I was younger. I picked purple hulls too! Love those peas, I'd love to have some, we can't grow them in Missouri! Great job on the music.

Different world, I have cancer for last five years my family they’re given up on me for the first month count me out of their lives and they told we can’t help you, they funny thing I never asked anybody for help always believe help come from god, I’m still here walking in this life thanks god and I love and respect all human all creatures of god, god bless all.

I too wanted my stardom with Bill Gaither but with my dream came the death of my oldest sibling. We were as a trio to Interview with Gaither but it wasn't the Lords will. Grew up in Hallsville, and had no idea they started in Kilgore. Took me 40 years to find the banjo, and about 2 months after that to find the Purple Hulls. Sad to know I missed out on years of their music.
Forgot to say… I DO NOT miss planting, picking, and shelling those purplehulls.

I live in Gettysburg pa and grow purple hills from peas poppa Welch sent me. I miss Texas but eating them peas take me back.

It's getting rarer for kids to go to college and come back home. But to go to college and Nashville and come back home to work on the farm. Now that's family and Christian love. Thanks to Daddy and I'm shore your Mother.
My daddy's childhood farm is just down the road from the abandoned Jakey's store. I remember riding on my granddaddy' s old Farmall tractor like the one in the video. Love your music and purple hull peas! I might have to come to a Kilgore to get me some peas. 😄
