We recently started buying 3 pound bags of roasted walnuts too… he LOVES those pistachios though!!! I started those I think around 4 months ago steadily, and he will sit there for hours eating one after the other lol… the last week or so he’s snubbed the pistachios for the walnuts, but today he decided NOPE, PISTACHIOS AGAIN PLEASE! 😂😂😂
So cute! I had to lay off of feeding the squirrels & birds because my dog & cat see them as prey/invaders. It's their yard after all so I don't blame them 😂
Luckily I’m able to feed my little visitors on one side of the house, safely away from our back yard (we have a solid fence) where our doggos have free rein… because yeah, with Labs and Shepherd’s… they would instantly want to grab these little guys as well (and they do when one decides to make a poor life choice and hop the fence for whatever reason lol). Luckily none have gotten snatched but there has been at least one or two close calls. It is their yard like you said 😂😂
We are about 2 blocks over from the forest line and just shy of where deer feel safe enough to feed… I’ve tried to provide tasty treats for them but I think neighbors a little closer to the tree lines have that covered so unfortunately they are stealing all my fun lol… so squirrels and bunnies it is until they stop 😂😂 … I’m very jealous of ya if you get routine deer visitors 👍🏻👍🏻
What’s even more adorbs is he has been bringing his squirrel wife along with him more and more lol… I will try and get better footage of the two of them making a visit lol
What he actually has, are healing wounds from what I can only imagine was either a cat attack, or a raptor attack on him… for a little while he stopped coming around and when he did he had three or four slash marks on him. That’s when I started purchasing high calorie pistachio and walnuts and would try to feed him as much as I could so his wounds would heal up. They did heal, and now he’s just a happy camper although he is very much nervous when large birds (hawks, eagles or other raptors) fly above him (which is why I think he comes close to me in the more relatively safe spot to eat as birds of prey are less likely to attack with me sitting right there. Not impossible of course, but much less likely.
