Throwing it at the instep area is also a decent modified way to throw the oblique kick. As you mentioned, it definitely has to be done in a very controlled manner. I love your content sir. I remember that war you had with Nieky Holzken in Glory; you showed good skill and lots of heart. It's awesome that you started a channel for sharing martial arts techniques.
I tried to explain to an idiot how dangerous and career ending the oblique kick to the knee is to competitors but his argument is that any punch or kick to the head is dangerous.
If you ban oblique kicks you should ban low kicks as well. You know how much damage low kicks do to a fighter's legs? Oh yeah also no more checking low kicks or leg locks as well. God forbid you wanna hurt your opponent in a cage match 🙄 Edit: For sparring don't do it but for a fight? Hell yeah use that kick!
I can slam my shin into your skull causing brain damage, but you want to make kick to the legs illegal to "protect fighters?" Fighting isn't safe, I can just as easily blow someone's knee out by low kicking the side of the knee, or kicking just below it or above it. If you don't want to see, or fight with, low kicks then stick to American Kickboxing.
what u think about hitting the kneecap with your heel? that's even more controversial.. you can shift the kneecap out of place or do the same kind of hyperextension damage
What do i do when i continue to get kick while I’m throwing a combo? I 6’4” and use my length to my advantage but sometimes i just want to get in and box. Most ppl just run away which prevents me from throwing combos but there are a few willing to stand in there with me. Problem is I’m a victim of leg kicks to the body in the middle of my combos. Any tips to prevent that from happening or ways to avoid them? Thank you!
Don't chase them. Back off and they will have to move forward for you. Human has this tendency in a fight is to back off when someone is rushing at them and move forward when the opponent is backing out of distance
If anything it should be illegal to oblique kick with your lead leg cause you’re almost stomping down on the knee instead of striking. This kick is wing chun. Thats why it’s so effected when the other person is square.
FOR PEOPLE IN THE COMMENTS, AND I ALREADY KNOW WITHOUT LOOKING, YES, THAT IS ACTUALLY CALLED AN OBLIQUE KICK BECAUSE IT LANDS ON THE MID SECTION BUT CAN DEFINITELY LAND AT THAT QUAD AND THE KNEE!

It blends so good with question mark kick.
I have noticed oblique kicks aren't being thrown as much in MMA. I remember John winklejon from Jackson wink liked it alot.
I think, the oblique kick intetionally to the knees should be considered illegal. It can cause bad injuries. We have to protect the fighters
Someone oblique kicked me in the knee when i was sparring, luckily it didnt do too much damage but i thought it was a bit douchey of him to do it.

@@adhdmed just tell them that there is so many tendons and ligaments surrounding the knee and it literally doesn't need much force to damage them

Maybe if people don't want to be hurt then they shouldn't become professional fighters for a living lmao...
Very knowledgeable!
Could you also throw the oblique kick to the leg using the lead leg?
Wing uses a lead leg oblique kick.
Also what would use to setup a lead leg oblique kick? Would you use a jab as the setup like you did in the video with the rear leg oblique kick?

I'll be back 😈
Shouldn't be banned, it's a legitimate technique. Fighters have to prepare and be ready for it.
They should not be banned from MMA or Kickboxing
The cowards kick. Jones, mvp both fighting in the wrong weight class.
Anderson Silva also used that kick, is he a coward too?
@@ruiigrit Of course. Wrong weight class and drug addict.
Carlos Condit and Holly Holm(she used it numerous times against Ronda in her upset win)
What's the point of MMA if they're rules? One style gets dogged over another.
Just like back in old kickboxing, low round kick to the quad is considered "cowardly" too. Get good and adapt instead of whinning
