I did the "normal" track last weekend for the first time and it was awesome. You could fight for the best line, pass people, brush walls, exercise brakes neatly, and the staff didn't mess with you at all. It was in Roswell, maybe the same as this one. I'd prefer a race with passing than any speed with none.
Still watching, but this is the same course I was at, but with a different barrier layout/material. This one's unforgiving due to the "sub corners" that are the ends of some of the barrier segments. Almost like polygonal collision in a video game. The one I did had smoother barriers using metal flaps. This one looks like composite/resin-type barriers.
Always remember electric go carts are momentum carts when you tap the brakes the slower you go so the smother you drive the faster you go I race at Slick Willie's in Reading,Pa with the same style carts🏁
Looking forward to giving the Marietta location a try, as it wasn't yet open when I came by Atlanta in early October. You mentioned there being an intermediate track for faster drivers, but it states on their website that the intermediate track will only reach top speeds of 25 mph at $19.95 per race whereas this track is 35 mph and the price is considerably higher at $24.95 (sheesh...Andretti's with those high prices). So it looks like you made the right decision lol. Though you're right, that is a very narrow track. P.S. - You gotta aim that camera a bit higher next time!
+Wes M I got a tip from one of the bartenders that the speed is variable and can be adjusted by the operators. Let them know you are experienced down stairs and would like it turned up. A nice tip for them on the low never hurts. :)
+Wes M Yeah at the time of this video being filmed, the intermediate track was at speed 4 just like the karts on the main adult track and I enjoyed that much more because there wasn't traffic and its higher speed with more straight aways and the overall design of the track is much better. BTW I did fix the camera angle and you can see the track much better on my new video. The adult track has changed a lot and will really frustrate you if you are an experienced racer because with the heritage of the Andretti family just calls racing to the mind and with the new layout its just hairpins and straights with even a corner that automatically slows you down. Ive kinda just refrained from going there for now until they get their act together and fix the track. Sorry for the really really late reply cuz RUclips blocks some comments thinking they are spam and I have to approve them for some reason.
+James Keith Harwood Can you verify that this is true??? I have a hard time believing a race controller is going to take a customer's word on how experienced they are behind the wheel of a go-kart, much less turn their speed up without having any proof beforehand. On top of that, karting places such as this don't allow there to be karts on the track running at different speeds simultaneously - unless, of course, someone is reckless and needs to be slowed down to protect themselves and others.
+Josh McCormack Well hopefully it won't be too long before I return to Atlanta and visit the Marietta location as well as Slingshot for the first time. Can't say K1 was the most exciting place (are any?) but AMP and Andretti's in Roswell are both a lot of fun, so I'll return to those for sure.
hmmm even the short track at the Roswell facility has more room with about the same lap time. I'll have to check this one out but it's still not the same without engine noise.
Yeah it was a strange feeling because these karts have better acceleration than the other karts and have no noise along with a differential so you can corner a bit faster.
+Eric Marecki Judging by this video, if you're wanting to get some good laps in, Thanksgiving weekend is definitely not the time to go. You'll spend the entire time stuck behind slower drivers under constant caution due to spinouts and wrecks with the typical large holiday crowds. Of course, some people seem to enjoy that sort of thing, but just a heads-up!
this is nice I remember when I went it was like last week yeah it was now I remember but I was on the kid Track that was lame all u got to do is to ride in a circle
Cool dude. Great race. I planning on racing there later on this year. Since they don't rent out any Go Pro, I guess I'll buy one. What do recommend I buy to mount the camera to the helmet.
To whom it may concern: I visited this evening with my boyfriend expecting to have a great evening. We purchased a membership, 3 rides for the night and a package to play arcade games. While we waited for our ride, my boyfriend went outside to smoke a black and mild. (Feel free to check the cameras. This was around 9:20pm) We went to the back to have our 2 rides first. Before we got on, my boyfriend had my bag in his hand. We’ve been victim to someone stealing our merchandise before and are always weary of lockers. When the attendant told him he had to lock it up, We didn’t argue, complain or talk back. We put the bag in the locker and proceeded to complete our 2 races. Once that was over i went back to collect my things from the locker and there were 2 police officers waiting for me. They asked if the locker was mine, because they were here about a situation of someone refusing to put a bag in the locker. That wasn’t true, we didn’t refuse. We did as we were instructed. (Again, feel free to check the cameras) He said he could smell the contents of what’s in the bag and that we need to leave. I told him there was nothing in my bag. And he said regardless, you have to go. I told him again “sir there is nothing in my bag. My boyfriend had a black and mild which is probably still in my purse and you’re more than welcome to check. I don’t know what your referring to, but i have nothing in my bag”. He said regardless, you still need to leave. I opened the locker, grabbed my bag and the 3/4 burnt black and mild that both officers saw. Embarrassed, and not wanting to cause a scene. I accepted it. Because unfortunately when your someone of color like me, these situations tend to get out of hand. And i refused to let this be that. He escorted us out the building. I’ve never in my life experienced what i did this evening. I’ve never been questioned by a police officer, escorted out of a building, Or accused of something solely based on the color of my skin, because let’s be honest, that’s exactly what happened here. I feel as if i should be reimbursed for the activities i wasn’t able to complete. The membership was $25.76 with tax. Additionaly i paid for 3 rides( 2 completed) for 2 people. 1 rookie adventure and 1xd theater. (Receipt 001-190426-006-163698) i don’t feel comfortable enough to ever step foot in this establishment again, so the extra stuff i did not get to experience will not be used. what I’m sure there is a target on my back that will make me feel uncomfortable to ever step inside again. And I’ll be sure to communicate that to everyone i know.
u had some SLOW competition. cause your not that fast , all the sliding on those left turns is costing you time , some times slower in the sharp turns means you come out of the corners faster , just saying, good video
+David Jessee If this track was the current one I'd like to see you beat me buddy. The karts are electric and have gobs of torque. The reason I can slide a few of the corners is because it's still fast. Yeah I could maybe be about .001 of a second faster if I didn't but that doesn't matter one bit against people that don't care. Calling me "not that fast" was an insult that wasn't well thought out.
I wish people who video'd their track time, would aim the camera a bit higher, I don't care too much about seeing your kneecaps, I wanna see more of the track ahead.. I.E. what YOU are seeing.
if best overall is 22.9, and yours was 23... the clowns at marietta must not know driving... Look out for the name Icarus Ambrose on the top of the chart
Wow..this Guy was driving like he was on a Nascar track!!! He was going full speed , everybody else was just driving like they was tryna enjoy the $25 they paid for the race...
This is crazy!! I’m loving this track and you make it look effortlessly and easy

This is a great virtual reality video. It's is exactly like really racing. It has the exact same effect and feeling of actually being there

Nice job! All the moves I would've done! 😂
