  • Disciples in the Moonlight is a Sci-Fi/Thriller that takes place in the not too-distant future, in a United States where the Bible has become illegal. A group of Christians takes up a mission to deliver Bibles to seven underground churches in the Midwest/North East Region. I loved this film! Here is my take on it.

If you're not supposed to change the word of god then why do we have King James bibles? Why aren't the bibles presented to christians in the original language? Greek / Aramaic, so that the word of god can be accurately conveyed.

@@jamesevans5599 King James wasn't a great king, but he still wanted a Bible that was accurate. (There are a few things that he didn't get right, but for a lot of the text, it stayed true to the original) And you can find Greek and Aramaic texts, we own a few ourselves. As far as interpreting the Word of God, that's where the Holy Spirit comes into play as He helps in discerning.

I didn't like it. It felt like tortute to me.
The worldbuilding is illogical, the characters are unlikable, the camera work is below rookie level and writing sucks.
I just don't like it. I pirated this movie and I want my money back.

How could this happen in the near future in a predominantly christian country? Why do you actually think this could happen any time soon? Why are you feeding your fear instead of looking at reality?
    This won't happen.
Also, don't you trust in your God? Why would he punish y'all like that? You do follow the rules set out in the bible, don't you? Especially the things Jesus told you to do. So why do you fear your fundamental christians would suddenly vanish in such vast numbers to allow someone else to turn things around?
I think that'd be interesting. But it's not going to happen in either of our lifetimes.

@@arleccio First of all, I find it rather presumptuous of you to assume I'm afraid. Our Savior clearly said, "In this World you will have trouble, but take heart- I have overcome the world." When this does come, no- I don't plan on being fearful. I plan on remaining faithful to the Word of God.
Secondly, my thoughts aside- the way this film approaches the topic is asking the question: "What if it did happen?" It is a fair question, as there over 20+ countries around the world that you could get tortured, harassed, arrested, and even Killed for speaking the name of Yeshua/Jesus, or claiming He is the Son of God. China even has their own version of the Bible, that is government issued- so they can tell you what you can and can't believe. There are tons of underground churches in China, which at any point could be dismantled by the police, and all their members could lose their freedom, families, and their lives. Other "What if?" movies have been made in the past, when it comes to this topic it should be no different.
Thirdly, saying it won't happen in our lifetime is just negligence. Whether or not we are handed a government in the future that will take away our rights completly to be in possession of a Bible, I don't know if that will happen in our lifetime. What I do know is that people's Biblical beliefs has been scrutinized by many in the Public, many in the justice system, and many in the education system. The "Persecution Complex" that I've heard from arrogant people is downright ridiculous. 'We want to be persecuted?' 🤨
I'm sure we all wanted them bringing evolution into schools and theories of how the universe came into being, and teach it as fact. It directly contradicts the Bible.
I'm sure those who truly stand on the Word of God really wanted to go to jail and be harassed for keeping their churches open during Covid.
I'm sure Jack Phillips really wanted to get sued by a gay couple for denying them a custom wedding cake, which he was well within his right and conviction to do.
I'm sure that girl at Columbine who died because she stood up for the name of Jesus Christ really wanted to get shot dead.
Truth of the matter, the Bible continues to be a problem for people because it contradicts the standards they have made for themselves and wanting to live in the lifestyle that they see fit. God's word is too "offensive" and "hateful" of them and their lifestyle, and at some point, they're gonna get so tired of us standing on it that they will try and remove it. LGBTQ already made a horrible translation of the Bible that removed the actual truth of it and tried to gratify the crowd and their lustful desire for sin. Step one is, they'll try replacing the truth with something they think is less offensive.
I don't know what you'll take away from this, but those are my two cents- more like a dollar. But I'd just watch the movie for yourself. At face value, it asks the question: "What if it DID, happen?" Our opinion on whether or not it will is completely irrelevant. Those were my thoughts.

The Bible actually says it will happen, so be very careful what you assume is impossible. 100 years ago, 90% of Americans were Christians, and now it is only 76%. I would also say only about a fraction of that 76% believe that the Bible is the word of God. If we keep going in this trajectory, I could see the Bible being banned as hate speech.

This movie is not very original, there was another bad movie with this same premise, i believe these movies make the church look bad, it makes it look like they're playing the victim card, when their religion is one of the biggest in the world.

They are also the most persecuted. Look it up. North Korea, Saudia Arbia, China, Afghanistan, Iran.... all persecute Christians. Furthermore, our Scriptures do teach that Christians will be killed in the ENTIRE world one day and will be hated by all nations. The only way that this is possible is by making it illegal and banning the Bible.
