Thank you for being an advocate for the arts and creatives Molly!! There is not enough encouragement in the schooling system to pursue creative passions. I'm at uni (college) now doing media and it is the *best* decision I could have made!
Anyone thinking of doing anything creative from acting to photography to painting to writing- *DO IT!* xx

You legit picked the opposite to me, I'm in Year 12 and doing Maths, Further Maths, Computing and Biology. I'm really enjoying them, although they are all quite hard, I didn't realise the jump between GCSE and A-Level was so big, but I'm used to it now. Further Maths is the hardest, but I like a challenge 👍🏽 I'm enjoying the fact that sixth-form is a lot more independent, and I'm a lot more mature because I'm responsible for my own learning. I also picked my school sixth form, and I agree, it's the best decision. I got great grades at GCSE and the teaching is great, so I chose to stay and I don't regret it one bit☺️

Ria How are you finding A-Levels? Are you enjoying them? And how are you finding maths?? For me, it's challenging, especially further, but it's good! Computing is really good cause there's a lot of overlap with GCSE but we learn a lot more in depth stuff which i like

Loved this Molly! I was struggling to make the decision between sixth form and sixth form college, but I ended up choosing sixth form college because I was convinced I wanted to leave my school, turns out I was wrong and I didn't fit in at all😂 Changed subjects but then ended up moving back to sixth form and now I couldn't be happier, so anyone in year 11 now, don't feel your decision is final! You can change in the first few weeks of year 12 and I would recommend doing so if you're not happy! No point settling and being unhappy for 2 years😄

My answers to the questions as I'm in the same situation as molly. 1. Yes so much work, I'd compare it to April time for GCSE's. every night I'm doing work because to be successful you need to do independent study which is more research than just homework. And As art involves lots of work! 2. Choose the place which you feel a click with. You'd get it when you visit on open days. 3. Buy the essentials 4. I have 10 study periods a week and I'd say about 70% of them I use to work. Don't use every study period as you'll become exhausted. They are a great way of getting homework out of the way.

I got 4 options for GCSE . I chose Art , Drama , Media and History and I love all of them (apart from history because we are doing immigration to the US in the 1920's and it's so boring) . Me and my friends chose all the same things but we didn't even realise we just enjoy all the same things so it is a bonus really . I am so much more creative than academic and it's so frustrating at times 😬

It was interesting to see your different opinions Molly! I'm in my second year at college doing A level Geography, French and Business. They are all quite content heavy and not independent, the opposite to your subjects. For me, the jump between GCSE and A Level was pretty big, but you honestly just get used to it within a few weeks. But in all honesty, I've hated college! Way too much stress and work, absolutely HUGE workloads especially from French. However, getting good grades is always rewarding, I just can't wait until this year is over😂 I've met great people though and gained a lot of experience. I guess it all just depends on the type of person you are and what your strengths are (coursework vs. exams). P.S great choice with dropping history there lol, cant imagine how awfully hard that is!! Oh and you look gorgeous😘

I'm so baffed because some GCSEs are the old curriculum and some are the new and it's all mish mash and ahhhh.
Molly you should feel blessed you did the old GCSE. Trust me. The grading even changed.
    Basically I'm screwed. 👍🏽

I'm starting a new job this week, so you don't need uni necessarily unless you have a certain career path, that's how I thought of it anyway; also I wanted to get a job in the media but it's such a hard industry to get into so if you have contacts then use them! I’m in the same year as you and I picked English Literature, Sociology and Psychology for my A level options. I changed quite a bit, I started off wanting to do Sociology, Psychology, Geography and ICT, but then on my enrolment day I changed Geography to English Literature and then found 4 A levels way to much work so dropped ICT. People always tell me that psychology and sociology are ‘easy subjects’ but considering I’m taking 3 essay based A levels I don’t think that’s easy 😂 But yeah, I’m absolutely loving college. I don’t really use my breaks to work either. I get Monday mornings and Tuesday mornings off and then 7 and a half hours during the hours I’m at college but that’s really bad of me

Emily So it’s kinda complicated to explain because there’s loads of content but it’s my favourite subject out of the ones I’m taking and considering I only started it this year, it’s my best subject out of all three options. Basically, obviously depending on what exam board you’re with, I’m learning about Marxism, Feminism and Functionalism, and their views on the role of education and how it shapes our society, the history of education, families and childhood so the different types of families, how children were treated in the past during the Industrial Revolution, different types of couples, and then the boring topic which is Research Methods where you basically learn about primary and secondary data, questionnaires, interviews and all the boring stuff but the important stuff you need to know if you get me haha. I would definitely recommend taking it though!!

I picked psychology because I didn't know what to take for my third a level and I hate it😂 it's honestly boring and so hard if you're not particularly clever like me😂 I regret not going to college and doing business so much because I hate a levels so much😩

Media A Level is quite brutal in terms of work load, Some of the deadlines are really close together and if you take Media a Production, you have to do the Production side too and the production sidesgrade boundaries are harsh. I'd say I'm getting on well though because I took Media at GCSE and got an a*

I'm in year 10 and Art GCSE was the worst decision I've made. I am happy with all my other choices but this was the only one I regret. I always loved art and got good grades (I still do) but I didn't know how much work it would be. A lot of people warned me but I didn't realise exactly how bad it would be.

      I didn't enjoy Art GCSSE

    • @rebe_eka

@@slickjumpedoverthelazydog Well now I'm in Y13 and looking back at it, I don't regret taking GCSE art tbh. I do A Level art now and it's honestly a lot better than GCSE. I think the reason why I didn't enjoy GCSE art was that I had to revise for a lot of subjects and I also took GCSE Photography on the side.

Heather Börmann I'm doing Maths and Further Maths right now, Core 1 is pretty good, Mechanics 1 is a piece of cake compared to Mechanics 2, Further Pure 1 is pretty hard too, but Statistics 1 is okay, as well as Core 2. Further Maths is hard, but you seem bright from the subjects you picked, so good luck to you!

DigiMonster thank you for your reply! and do you find it's a huge step up from GCSE with maths/further maths?

    • @tranarchism_
      @tranarchism_ 8 лет назад

Heather Börmann It is, but you get used to it after a while, you find your feet and get into a routine. At first it was kinda confusing, but now it's good. And stuff you learn in further maths, you can apply to core, and vice versa. It is enjoyable, and you do learn a lot, it's fast paced, so you've gotta keep up, don't be afraid to ask for help, if you don't understand a topic, ask your teachers and they will go through it with you, that's what I do, and it works for me🙂

I love this video molly but I think you should have waited until you'd finished your first year maybe, this time last year I was a few months into my course and I thought the work load wasn't to bad, then after Christmas the work load hit me hard and I didn't have enough time to finish everything. Honestly college is amazing but the second year is more difficult x
I'm not being negative I'm just giving my views 💘
    Love you molly x
