      Greetings for the day!
I am a resident of Vallabh Vidyanagar, District Anand (Gujarat). The place where I reside is named after independent India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel because this place is also his birthplace.
My family has been blessed with the opportunity to have served the nation since last 4 generations covering a period of 100 years beginning from World War-1 till date. My grandfather Colonel Baljit Singh, who is the third-generation officer of my family fought for protecting the integrity and sovereignty of the nation during the 1965 Indo-pak war in Sialkot sector, as a member of 3 Madras regiment that constituted 69th Infantry Brigade; 6 Mountain Division. For his active participation in that war, he has been bestowed upon with SAMAR SEVA STAR, RAKSHA MEDAL and SAINYA SEVA MEDAL.

His unit that happens to be one of the oldest infantry units of Indian Army was among the first units to cross over the border in retaliation to the attack on Chamb-Jaurian and successfully capture 3 towns and 20 villages inside the enemy territory. The unit stayed within the enemy territory for 5 months (Sept’65-Feb’66) till Tashkent agreement was formally implemented.
In 2015, on the golden jubilee celebration of 1965 war he was personally invited by honourable President of India at a special 5-day function organised at India Gate Lawns and felicitated for his services. During 1971 war he was posted on Bangladesh border and conducted reconnaissance missions before the war.

ruclips.net/video/Yn3oxv7WUEw/видео.html - 3rd Interview of Colonel Baljit Singh
My grandfather, Colonel Baljit Singh settled in Gujarat because his last posting was in the state and the younger generation of the family was at different levels of getting educated.
It was in 2021 that I got his hand written war time diary of 1965 war, which contained day-to-day development of that 22 days active conflict. With little struggle I was successful in getting it published as a book for the present generation of Indians to get some awareness about the tough times through which our nation has been post-independence and to make them realise that present day freedom has come at a cost.
However, to my dismay neither the present generation of military enthusiasts or defence aspirants nor the recently retired or serving men in uniform displayed any interest to learn about our recent military history, directly from the experience of a war veteran. The book contains several events which even the official military history of 1965 war developed nearly 20 years after the war ended by PhD students of JNU at the behest of Ministry of Defence fails to mention.
I personally circulated several copies of the book signed by my grandfather among the people associated with Indian military, Military Literature Festivals and serving officers. However, I did not find even a single courteous chap who reverted making me feel as if they had not bothered to read the book and learn from the experience of a senior veteran.
The book is available on Amazon, Flipkart, Googlebooks at the rate of Rs 160 and is also available in electronic version over kindle, which can be accessed through Amazon. The title of the book is ‘SAGA OF A SOLDIER’ by Colonel Baljit Singh.
      www.amazon.in/SOLDIER-Colonel-Baljit-Singh-Retd/dp/935515027X - book's link
Sir, I request you to please get a copy (hard or soft) of the book and give it a read. If you feel it deserves attention then do encourage your near and dear ones or your colleagues to read it as well and provide encouraging feedback. This will help me in overcoming the demotivation that has been shrouded due to cold response from the citizens of our country.
If the situation permitted I would have personally delivered you a signed copy of my grandfather Colonel Baljit Singh’s war time diary.
      Thanking you.

OMG, I generally don't comment, but this podcast was incredibly unique and intense to process. The devastation described was beyond anything I could imagine, even coming from a military background. It was absolutely unbelievable. I really want to appreciate Maj. S.M. Toor for opening up and helping us visualize the horrors he and other officers, especially from foreign armies, have witnessed.
I also want to commend Col. Kaushal for remaining so calm and composed throughout. His experience as part of the Special Forces must have helped him maintain that composure, having likely witnessed his share of bloodshed. If it had been any other person or podcaster, I don't think the discussion would have been as detailed or clear.
This podcast has truly heightened my awareness of how privileged we are to live in India and the kind of independence we enjoy compared to others.
For anyone reading my comment before finishing the podcast, I urge you to LISTEN TO THE MESSAGE by Maj at the end GIVEN TO THE YOUTH and truly grasp its depth.
Thank you, Col. Kaushal. Much respect.❤

1:35:25 I am your big fan sir! One thing that I observed and really admired of you as a podcast host is that you just nudge the podcast with your brief and concise questions/statements and allowed the guest to express his experiences, thoughts, beliefs the most. That's wonderful way to get maximum out of the podcast time. Really liked the podcast and you being as host!
