I think when people were saying you haven't seen anything like Harry Mack before they meant how he does it. You can put up the top freestyle rappers of all time and none of them have the diversity he brings. His flow and cadence changes, his ability to switch between double time and triplets with ease, always following the beat, using the words as entire schemes instead of just saying them once to rhyme with, coming up with hooks on the spot, etc. The other greats are great but they aren't bringing all of that to the table when they spit and that's not to mention the consistency Mack does it with. It's absolutely ridiculous.
HMack fam can get VERY protective and it’s not about his skill. You’ll see that for Harry it’s about the connection and the energy exchange. He’s only competing with himself..He’s trying to make freestyling ‘enough’. Record labels want marketable‘songs’, so what happens to all the freestylers? Nothing.. Harry has figured out a way to succeed without compromising his vision or his morals, paving a new lane. It’s inspiring.

If YT didn't exist and all of his freestyle were audio only, he wouldn't be able to generate the attention that he currently does. Let me reiterate....what he is able to do is almost beyond comprehension. But what he does is not marketable to a mass audience. No freestyle only rapper will ever be a priority to a record label. He found his lane and his home on YT. Who cares that the record labels arent interested??
One of the things I love about HM is that he freestyle so clean that the auto subtitles on youtube get 99% of it correctly! But there is always the Cadences, double and triple meaning, thousands of flow switches, the knowledge of different subjects, and millions of different stuff!
I use CC and I think he has his own subtitles put in. I've seen slang and things are typed out how he says it verses auto subs I think only use real words edit* got further and BP does have auto subtitles and it does catch so much and it's sooo fuckin fast. there's quite a few parts it doesn't even try tho lmao it's just blank w (MUSIC).

Yo that insight into your pre-performance rehearsal is dope. It's such an intelligent method of making sure you can stay in the zone. Harry has said in interviews in the past that the written word doesn't necessarily translate to a rhyme in his mind. He has to actually imagine how that word would sound before he can rhyme with it. Through most of this freestyle he was leading with the given word rather than using the typical freestyle setup technique. Where he really shined, if you ask me, is when he could take a concept like the "secret to staying sober" and actually articulate it with rhymes. Now he isn't only reading and rhyming, which is clearly on autopilot for him. Now he's having to read the prompt, develop a legitimate response in his mind and spit it out coherently packaged with rhymes at double-time pace. I also really like the Halton/Haltin' homonym toward the end. That shit is insane.
Who cares who is “the best”? Mack is dope, so is Juice, so is Super Nat. I’m just so thankful we get to watch freestyles of this caliber. Thanks for the reax! 🔥🔥
I think you're right... Harry is putting out the blueprint and inspiring people, so we will definitely see some amazing freestylers coming up in the next 10 years. To me, he actually shows that you don't have to be some kind of alien to do this, you just have to practice hard and smart for a long time.
Rapping triple time, Not missing a single word on beat, navigating and reading the chats at the same time. That's like me quickly telling you about basketball while reading a book about football at the same time.
I went in on you guys pretty hard out of pure annoyance and I should have kept my cool. My bad. Sorry about that. Glad to see you saw the light, and now that I have a clear head it's probably better that you held back a bit at the start and really made sure you were absolutely positive before jumpin in to the belief that he's on another level. But anyway. He does things like this Rap God clip all the time. He live streams at least one day a week and this is what he does most of the stream. Freestyles off chat and donos. Sometimes from random word generators. And I want to mention once again that you guys should try to get on his Happy Hour podcast/show where he talks to reactors, other rappers, or fans and has them give him words or challenges. Put him to the test in any way you can think of. And I recommend Omegle Bars 30 if you want to go back through some of those.
It should be noted that even in that old video he has had around 7 or 8 years of practice. Like freestyling almost every day for an hour or more. He talked about how he does specific exercises for specific elements of rapping, like practicing certain rhyme patterns or certain flow changes, and he does that for hour or hours every day for weeks and months. He did some of those exercises on streams to show how it looks.
You know what's crazy... Harry credits Supernatural as his biggest inspiration(aside from seeing Wayne Brady improvising a song when he was a little kid). Harry is always giving props to Supernat, so it has to be sad to see him talking poorly about him. But Kendrick said he's inspired by Harry; and King Los said he's passing Harry the crown; so most of the feedback Harry gets from his idols has been positive.
Another aspect to Harry Mack is his story telling, check out "Barbarian", "Talking Dog", or "Rap your way out of a speeding ticket". All of them are absolute fire

As a huge fan of hip hop, I started digging into Harry’s shit last year and the variety of the level I’ve seen is beyond anything I’ve ever seen. He’s a one of a kind.
There is a man on H Mack’s team who is the OG Reactor to HMack. He goes by Ikaanic. To make comparison to your comment on a kid inspired by H Mack… Ikaanic has only been free styling for 2 years and has levelled up about 10 times already! Harry was at one point in the process of creating a platform for teaching freestyle. If this happens there are no limits to where freestyle rap could be in 10 years and then 20 years! I always also think about what this Harry Mack movement will lead to. Personally I think k it's a rebirth of true roots hip hop that been taken to the next level and am excited to see the ripple effect of what it spawns. He's already made freestyle go viral, turned millions in to fans of rap and most new fans through him, end up peeping the culture and the OGs. I'm an almost 6 year Hmack Stan but I do think some fans need to be more o jective and realize that real hip hop heads have seen plenty of dope freestyles and won't feel right just dismissing the real of greats until they've seen enough. It's a faze you guys will go through, eventually you'll want to call him the best you've ever seen but will feel bad at 1st like it's in disrespect to the OGs. Guys remember that was a young HIGH H Mack. The point is he never stops flowing, thinking and connecting lines. That was him at a moment when he was high. Today he does not let alcohol or weed interfering with his creativity.

I think 1, it’s just not who he is - with not taking on negative energy, and staying true to that is super crucial for what he brings. Oh, but I disagree with the premise that you can't compare. You just watched a video of Harry from over 10 yrs ago. He was rhyming like a boss even then. More so than I've ever seen from anyone else from back then to now. Others have done well, but Harry was killing it back when the others you guys mentioned were around and before some of them. I always also think about what this Harry Mack movement will lead to. Personally I think k it's a rebirth of true roots hip hop that been taken to the next level and am excited to see the ripple effect of what it spawns. He's already made freestyle go viral, turned millions in to fans of rap and most new fans through him, end up peeping the culture and the OGs. I'm an almost 6 year Hmack Stan but I do think some fans need to be more o jective and realize that real hip hop heads have seen plenty of dope freestyles and won't feel right just dismissing the real of greats until they've seen enough. It's a faze you guys will go through, eventually you'll want to call him the best you've ever seen but will feel bad at 1st like it's in disrespect to the OGs. The Ferrari analogy was a perfect way to put it. It's the next level I. A new Era, that will spawn another Era of dope MCs and really ignite freestyle as a big part of main stream hip hop... sorry for the book lol, I need to be on a pod cast talking to guys like you about shit like this. Guys remember that was a young HIGH H Mack. The point is he never stops flowing, thinking and connecting lines. That was him at a moment when he was high. Today he does not let alcohol or weed interfering with his creativity.

I appreciate the background on Juice and Supernatural etc. The comparisons are valid IMHO simply because anyone that can leave an impression like that must be high level. This is so awesome. Love the addition of the 17yr old clip. And agree on HM’s stance on the battles, and with you as well. I think 1, it’s just not who he is - with not taking on negative energy, and staying true to that is super crucial for what he brings. And 2, if he did battle - he would kill the other person - regardless of who - he would demolish them - so it would be painful to watch and bad for those that like battling and have a reputation for it.

Oh, but I disagree with the premise that you can't compare. You just watched a video of Harry from over 10 yrs ago. He was rhyming like a boss even then. More so than I've ever seen from anyone else from back then to now. Others have done well, but Harry was killing it back when the others you guys mentioned were around and before some of them.

Yea he was. Harry did a break down of this freestyle on twitch a good while ago and said he just came home from a party and started freestyling. He been drinking and smoking and you can pretty much see that he is not in the most sober state..
