    This is the best DCS tutorial I've seen. No fluff, no stupid side jabber, no wasting time in the beginning.
    Video started
    Gave an intro
    Went straight into the point and explained relevant information. Got the viewers attention and kept it
    If this were a college assignment youd get an A+.
    Seriously, academically speaking I'm serious. That and so many dcs tutorial video jabber on and waste time. Especially in the beginning.

    I've read that the pod is pronounced A-Tee-Flir and not At-Flir. I guess many will have a hard time getting used to that including myself :D
    BTW I've shot the AGM-65E from max range at 18'000ft, going 300KTS indicated and up, which means as soon as it picks up the spot which is ~17nm. They all arrived at their target without issues. That is an incredible advantage over all the other Mavericks. Top range I could get out of the ones fired off the A-10C was like 11-12nm in FC mode. But that was at less altitude and compared to the Hornet's speed, a Hog doesn't move at all :D

    Laser Mavs also have the benefit of VERY RAPID multi target engagement. If you have a similar number of laser designators you can potentially launch against an unlimited number of targets in very quick succession.
    Simply set each laser to a different laser code and set each Maverick to a corresponding code, then simply uncage the seeker, lock, fire, uncage, lock, fire, uncage, lock, fire etc.
    Depending on if you are yourself a lasing platform this can easily result in you launching your entire complement of Mavericks at 4 different targets in seconds and being able to egress immediately or turn to other duties, such as covering airspace.

    • @theeltea
      @theeltea 6 лет назад

      Markpoints + TGP + tv mavs do the job quite fast as well. Just sayin'....

    • @Chrinik
      @Chrinik 6 лет назад

      @@theeltea But that's alot more steps and potential set up, and the TV mavs could mess up and not lock right, I mean the only reason it even works that well in DCS is because they aren't modeled right...and again if the targets are not proper single unit out in the field with no cover, like they usually are in MP missions for some reason, laser designation works on anything, including infantry or points on the ground.
      But yes, they can.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  6 лет назад

      Yes, although in reality they'l never fire all 4 off at once it's possible mind, a good bit of fun in mp.

    • @theeltea
      @theeltea 6 лет назад

      @@Chrinik Yeah, I believe in real life applications they are quite prone to locking up totally random shit under not-so-ideal conditions.

    • @Chrinik
      @Chrinik 6 лет назад

      @@theeltea I heard annecdotaly from veterans that the IR mav in particular loves deserts. You shoot it at the totally hot Tank and it decides "What Tank? Oh you mean this hot road nearby?" and just plow harmlessly into the ground 40 feet next to the target.
      That's also what irks me about the "Force Correlation" trick that people use to snipe SAMs from long range...I heard from multiple pilots that it is horribly innacurate and will not hit what you aim at 90% of the time, because the image you gave it to contrast with from 10-12 miles looks alot different from 2 miles so it just naturally drifts away

    great vid, its worth noting that if someone is lazing for you the lazer needs to be in area mode. not sure if this is a bug but from my test point mode doesnt work when lazing. In point mode it will find the target but you will be unable to fire the missile.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  6 лет назад

      The type of track shouldn't affect the laser firing / tracking, in fact Ideally you'l want to be in point mode rather than area, as area can slip off of an object over time since it's not directly locked to it. It's got to be a bug, this with the harrier?

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  5 лет назад

      Trim changes the resting position of your stick, so it's no longer centred. So, if you find yourself having to hold some left stick to stay level, centre the stick and hold trim left wing down until it stops rolling. With a little practice you can trim and ease yourself off the controls without needing to centre the stick.
