Born and raised there worked in Ontario for many years now in Alberta the town is a shell of its former shelf I use to work at blue&white taxi then jardines thanks for the trip down memory lane
my mother grew up there and wrote a memoir about her special times in the 1950s there. thanks for sharing this. It is hard to see the effects of the big businesses for sure.
Another awesome video friend. I walked this exact same route. Sad to hear about small businesses shutting down due to being forced out by larger businesses but that's how the economy is. The harsh reality is that Atlantic Canada has been the poorest region in Canada, aside from the three Territories since the 80s. I left in the mid 80s to move to the Prairies, and eventually here on the west coast in the early 2000s. I honestly don't see things improving, although when I returned in 2021 during Covid a lot of people I met spoke about how people are beginning to return to Atlantic Canada. I don't know how things are now, hopefully better but time will tell how it all turns out. Best wishes to you and your family, keep up the great work and stay safe! Apparently everyone in Sydney is high on drugs according to someone out there!
Sydney is really booming. now .New buildings going up. Foreign students everywhere, unemployment rates are low, congested traffic. I guess every town and city has drug problems. Homelessness is becoming a bigger problem now. Thanks for watching.
Hi Canada Road, hello from the east coast. How are things on our west coast. Thanks for stopping by.Your channel looks interesting,I will be checking it out later. Thanks 👍❤️🇨🇦🚙
@@cbroads9951 I never drove around Sydney Mines but I heard from some people it is a dying town. That's the unfortunate truth about most towns in Atlantic Canada. After the fisheries dwindled down in the 80s and a lot of foreign investment went into Alberta and British Columbia, a lot of people left for better employment opportunities. Many never returned.
hello.good morning I'm from Brazil, I'm studying English and saving money so I can go to Canada one day, I do a lot of research on the cost of living cities in Providence in the Atlantic, I'd like to know what it's like to live in this city, could you get in touch ?
Good morning to you Vitor. Sydney is a good place to live. We have a large amount of students from all over the world attending our CBU university. At the moment there is lots of job opportunities for students. Our whole Island is a very safe place to live. Hope this helps. Thanks
@@cbroads9951 I really appreciate you answering my comment, I'm a new guy here in Brazil with family and I really want to have the opportunity to go study and work in Canada
@@cbroads9951 I would love to form a friendship with a native there.
