Seeing the article about the 2004 tsunami in the Guardian this morning made me realise that year was my Jingle Bells Christmas Day haircut in Bangkok. On the second Christmas Day my partner and I were flying to Koa Samui. We were delayed in the airport for +6 hours and on taxiing out to take off we were pretty sure we saw body bags being unloaded from another aircraft. It was a dreadful feeling knowing that so many had lost their lives .
Yes, that was a terrible day indeed. Samui is on the other side of the isthmus so I think wasn't affected, right? Where have 20 years gone? Life just whizzes by.
