To let you know that the game mechanic that someone died and you stayed in the same place if you're in the Kitchen, Exercise Yard, Workshop, Study Room, North, South, East and West Block until the timer around 7:00AM. They'll be alive again but they'll remain on the ground unless you pick them up.
If you want them dead permanently, you'll have to leave the room you're in. They'll start dying in Hospital and the Bathroom around 7:00AM they'll either die or survive from unconscious.
