I don't know what it is about those Chris vs. Tyson matches, but that seems to be where the magic happens regarding the commentary. They both just go CRAZY.

It should be obvious by now that we joke about things like that all the time. 90% of the time we say things like that, we don't REALLY mean it.
The reason melee feels unresponsive after brawl is because of a feature called buffer. During the lag of a move in brawl, you can input your next move up to 1/6th of a second before your current move ends. Your 2nd move will then be executed automatically as soon as the first move is over. We call your 2nd move "buffered," and this process of inputting a move early "buffering." Melee and 64 lack buffering so your inputs are ignored until your current move is finished.

13:31 IMPORTANT:
You can L-cancel in 64, and it's actually 2x more effective. in melee L-cancelling only removes some of your aerial landing lag, in 64 it removes ALL of your aerial landing lag. Pick link on 64, dair (down aerial) into the ground, press L like half a second before landing. if you miss, you get a ton of lag and a green ring thing. if you do it correctly, link has no lag. he just stand up.

There's certain qualities characters have that make them either very good against others or a lot worse against others, which you can't escape in fighting games. Tiers are to organize how these characters matchup against the rest of the cast. With that in mind, tiers do not in any way tell a player which character to use, they just show the potential of each character. Your last statement isn't really true unless the characters are either similar or matchup relatively evenly against each other.
I wasn't going to check out Runaway Guys. Until you said you were in it T_T
you guys are good at all of them
Just watch a recent tournament video, there's a reason the top players use the characters they do; they just have overall great potential or they use a character to counter another one.

Let's pretend everyone has mastered every character and have relatively the same play style (which is mostly what competitive battling is). In this case, using Melee, a player who's using Fox (tier 1) would most likely do better against someone using Pichu (last tier). Certain characters are just better in certain things that make them better overall, and that can't be denied no matter how much you try to.
When are you doing week 38
