    Since it’s 1.0 you can safely assume it was almost never used because the discs had the firmware updates on them and the guy who bought this clearly never played any games past launch if ever.

      @kyler247 As someone who dealt with Wii h*cking in the past, you can't downgrade the firmware lower than what your console was shipped with. Otherwise, you'll risk bricking your system.

    As a fun fact, when I installed 1.0U in the Dolphin emulator, I installed a VC copy of Mega Man X via a wad file (using Dolphin's own UI while the "Wii" was "off"). Despite Dolphin having said it was successful, it didn't show up on the Wii Menu at all. Honestly I forgot about it until I copied the emulated Wii's storage so I could update three of them to the different major revisions (i.e. a 1.0 Wii, a 2.x Wii, a 3.x Wii and a 4.3 Wii) so that I could explore the history of the Wii Menu. What happened to remind me? Mega Man X suddenly appeared on the Wii Menu as soon as it was updated to version 2! Apparently it really had installed just fine, but 1.0 just didn't display its tile! I wonder why?

    • @arzfan29

      Probably one of the reasons 2.0 was a day 1 update when the wii originally released

    • @ToonyTails
      @ToonyTails Год назад +39

      Probably because all VC titles required at least version 2.0 to run. This is a fairly common thing nowadays on modern consoles. Like for example, many PS4 games require a minimum version number in order to run. Actually I’m pretty sure there is no PS4 game that could run on the 1.0 version

    The odd thing about my Wii was, It WAS a Japanese Wii. I was so excited to have a Japanese Wii in my hands after so many years after realizing that when upon booting it up, The Wii had NO CHANNELS. Only The Disc Channel was there. I literally panicked and realized this coulda been messed with as I bought from a third party from who I trust on Walmart. When updating The Wii, It was all good and the channels came back as normal. The Wii was NOT in Japanese tho as like nothing happened. This was just recent like a few months ago when I got my Wii. Happy to have this bad boy in my hands again.

    It appears that "ねとちめ" (pronounced "netochime") doesn't seem to be a standard Japanese word or expression. It seems to be a user-created label for the Nintendo Wii. Unfortunately, without further information or context, it's challenging to determine the specific meaning or origin of this particular nickname. It could be a personal or creative choice made by the user who configured the settings for that specific console.

      Tbf it probably would've not been efficient to do so since almost everyone in Japan speaks Japanese.
      If there were different languages, they'd probably be Korean, Mandarin (due to those being the most prominent diaspora languages), and *maybe* English.
      It's the same for European Wiis which only had English, European French, and German iirc. (I imagine American Wiis only had English, Québécois French, and Spanish)
