- Surfers and bodyboarders charge the Wedge on Labor Day weekend 2022 during morning high tide! I tried something a little different and took my iPhone in the water with my Axisgo and got some behind the scenes action! My apologies for the fogging at the end but it was sooo hot out that my phone got hot and fogged the lens a bit but other than that it was fun to take the iPhone out there!

Brings back such good memories of when I was in my late 30’s & coming down from Ventura Co. to bodyboard the awesome Wedge with my buddies. It became a weekly thing until the kids started playing travel sports. Now my wife & I are retiring to the Oregon beach. I have a feeling I’ll see what Oregon surfing is all about…

Yep I got hit Oceanside north Harbor jetty inmy web between my big toe and 2nd toe HORRIBLE SPOT felt like I got hit with an ice pick!
My cousin and I used to go to the wedge to body surf in the 60s. Darn near broke my neck going head first into the bottom. Dummy kept coming back for more. Thanks I enjoyed the memories.

every single time it almost looks like those waves are taunting you. one moment they look all glassy and clean, pretty much perfect to ride and then once they lure you in, boom, they turn into this like water whiplash that wants to kick your ass once you make the mistake of getting in that barrel

This was actually filmed with my iPhone in the AxisGo water housing! It’s the blue housing in the clip with the squirrel. They’re super fun and easy to use!

We have a hurricane making its way up the Baja peninsula, and we could feel the effects as early as this weekend with rain, wind, and swells. Should make for some gnarly waves. Do videographers melt if they get rained on? Must be something about water falling from the sky...

There's a million different ways to wipeout at the Wedge and I've got personal experience with one of the most common: the drastic disappearing water wipeout, also known as the DDWW (for you academics that's pronounced "double D double dub"). You can now find the DDWW running roughshod on BEEFS T.V.'s latest Wedge video cringe-a-thon.
DDWWs happen when you're ripping down a steep Wedge wave face - thinking about how bitchin' you're going to look tonight on Instagram - when your dream wave suddenly cuts off like the back end of a blue GMC Gremlin. But, no worries, Sparky, there's a half-inch cushion of fluffy seawater protecting the hard-sand parking lot bottom. That'll break your fall, no problem.
My first Wedge DDWW started with a sliding, face-first chin-plant into the parking lot followed quickly by a backward sucker-flip courtesy of the break's lovable "instant ghost wave" feature. On any given day the Wedge can have as many as four or five circus rings of unpredictable waveplay going on simultaneously, much of it caused, controlled or crashed by these drama-providing shadow waves.
Tides, shifting currents and the beach's proximity to a breakwater/harbor pull the strings on the jaw-dropping triangular waves, or wedges, this legendary spot is named after. It is the constant push-pull of this surging water energy (in three directions!) that really animates the abnormal, kook-chasing waves we love to watch on BEEFS T.V.
One second there's a sweet wave, the next second, uh, you've got sand in your mouth. That's the Wedge.
