Congrats on your move 🎉 and The Left Hand of Darkness is soooo underated, I felt exactly the same with the novel! It's so humane for being quite an otherwise intellectual sci-fi ⭐⭐

The Mars Room is really good! It was my first (and only book so far) I‘ve read by Kushner. But listening to you raving about it I‘ll pick up the Flamethrowers very soon.

welcome to new york, and congratulations on the move! the flamethrowers would be quite a perfect read for a cross-country move, and i really agree with your description of it as deeply american. re kushner: i liked flamethrowers, the hard crowd (essays) and the mayor of leipzig, but never got into the mars room. i'm intrigued by her new book coming out in autumn
i'm excited about the new vandermeer!

      Thank youuu!
I couldn’t have picked a better book for the move, just what I needed. The Hard Crowd is also very interesting to me, I’m obviously super intrigued by kushner at the moment so essays could be a good move. However, now that I know she has something new coming in the fall…
And more Vandermeer! What a good year!

and i can't WAIT to reread The Souther Reach trilogy this year with the fourth book coming out soon. i also want the new covers ahhh!!!!
also, Kushner has a new book out later this fall! it's apparently a mystery thriller? curious about it but have been meaning to read The Flamethrowers for ages nowww

The new covers are soooo good! I know I’m going to have to get all the new covers to have a whole matching set with the 4th one. I mean, it is what it is!!
Ah!! I had no idea Kushner had something coming out in the fall. That makes me so happy! Realizing both the 4th southern reach trilogy and now the new kushner can be my answers for most anticipated releases!!!

just about done with Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar, probably one of my best reads so far this year!
i also just finished how high we go in the dark, definitely a very ambitious project in terms of scope with the amount of time that passes in the novel. thanks for sharing your perspective on it! :)
