Sorry to all the haters, but I think it was high time that Jensen Ackles showed his actual singing ability 8j the show. He has a solid voice that is worth hearing. All of the other stuff was just messing around.

People like to forget these things when it's convenient. Like in season 6 where Dean went to make a deal with death and did ask for both Sam's soul and Adam out the cage. But everyone now conveniently forgets anything before season 8ish happened.
Honestly we don't know that Dean couldn't sing. The only instance we have of Dean singing was demon Dean, and there's a good chance that he just wanted to annoy people and pick a fight.

This was one of my favorite espisodes in a few seasons! Because Dean(Jensen) got to cut loose. I was expecting dean when he walked up on that stage and we got Jensen which made me soooo happy. But this is also my kinda bar, and no one really understands what its like to be in a bar like that til you actually have. This was the best epsiode in a long time. Loved it!
The hate I see pop up is because Dean was cutting loose and singing, saying it broke his character. Honestly, I was extremely happy seeing him sing after only doing it at the conventions. And with Christian Kane of all people? How awesome is that?!

Jensen was actually told to sing poorly in those scenes because Dean wasn't supposed to be able to sing. Of course Jensen isn't tone deaf so his idea of singing poorly was still decent. Kripke didn't want Dean to be a good singer though so that's why people were upset about this scene. I'll be honest it bugged me a little too for that reason but it's season 15 so may as well have fun before it ends.

I really love the "Six Degrees" aspect of this moment. :-) - Before this episode, Christian Kane was previously on "Leverage". - The "Leverage" episode "The Studio Job" guest-starred John Schneider. - John Schneider, not only was on "The Dukes of Hazzard", but he has also covered this song. - That same "Leverage" episode also guest-starred Alona Tal. - Alona Tal, as "Supernatural" fans know, played Jo Harvelle on said show.
I feel like t whole POINT of this episode was that Dean felt like for once he COULD act out of character and for a moment he realized that maybe he wanted something more than what he has right now. Also, as a collegiate-level musician and singer, I don’t think it’s out of the question dean might be good(or even just okay) at singing. We know he can play guitar + his giant passion for music generally in real life = can sing.

I've just rewatched / continued watching supernatural after 6 years, and ive just finished recently. And I'm sad and happy, and i must say this one was one of my favorite scene on supernatural!!
I really really really hope this is the real Dean finally letting his talented voice, that he's always known he had but hid because of nervousness, out to play because he knows it might be his last to do so.
