    Ok, that intro was hilarious!! The plant looked so cute with the little pink dumbbells!😅 love this series with Jeff. Plant looks great!! The slotted plank is genius and working well. Thanks for the update!! How's the plant room build going?

    It's all about the light. I had a giant pothos chunk like 2 yrs ago had to cut multiple times got too tall now I have many. Everytime it gets close to the light the leaves blow up. Keep it up love the series, I grow along😂.

    I think roughing up the wooden plank definitely helped, more surface area for the water to cling onto when you spray them. I'm surprised at how fast it sized up and how close together the leaves are now! Very very interesting

    Honestly this just looks like the proof that a “Hawaiian Pothos” is just a regular old Golden Pothos that’s been grown climbing in good light, heat and humidity. 👍🏻

    So funny! Love the lifting weights, and the way you keep calling it a “hyperbolic time chamber.” I’m super impressed with how well it’s growing. I can’t wait to see you finalize your design for the grooves and modular plank system, too. My own pothos was growing 5” leaves and one of them was 3”, but I had to move it to a spot where it’s getting less light and the most recent leaf peeking out looks like it will be much smaller. Dang it! I might get one of those small grow lights for an individual plant and stick it in the pot.

    I tried to grow pothos outside. I'm zone 10something, but in San Francisco where we rarely get above 70 (today's 76, very unusual!). It did not really grow outside at all -- it stayed alive tho. I've seen it in planters down town, but they probably just plant a big plant and leave it like that. My monstera is fine outside tho, and does grow. Need to figure out what to do now that it's reached the bottom of the second floor deck.

    I’m not trying to be critical, but I feel like you and Jeff both are doing way more work than needed! I’m growing the exact same plant on a plank. I started off with a 7-foot cedar plank in a 10” pot (without chunky “aroid” soil) from the get-go. The plank doesn’t have any grooves, I don’t spray the plank, I don’t use a humidifier or any fancy grow lights, and I’ve only fertilized the plant once in the last three months. I’m getting better results than you and Jeff while doing next to nothing. I don’t even water often because I started off with such a large pot to begin with that it stays moist for weeks after I water. Of course, I don’t oversaturate the pot and I use my many years of experience growing plants to know when to stop watering. In my experience, the plant grows relatively straight on its own. It’s not perfect, but close. I think the key is using a plank that’s wide enough, so it gives the plant some wiggle room without it completely growing off the edge. My plank is 6.5” wide. Anyway, good luck to you both! Your plants look great.

    • @sherryporsch9349
      @sherryporsch9349 3 месяца назад +1

      Oh cedar is so expensive in the states. 18$ for a 4” x 6’.

    • @JustJ0nathan
      @JustJ0nathan 3 месяца назад +1

      @@sherryporsch9349 It’s worth the expense because it’s very resistant to rot. I paid $15 CDN for my 7-foot plank.

    Golden pothos variegation changes depending on its environment? I always thought it was just genetics?

    • @TechplantChannel
      @TechplantChannel 3 месяца назад

      this seems like something that needs exploration, but i know ive watched golden pothos go green and vice versa now, so im really wondering good ways to trigger good varegation

    • @sandy_carpetsthesecond5013
      @sandy_carpetsthesecond5013 3 месяца назад

      @@TechplantChannel Yeah, but I always thought it was just stable paracytic achlorophyllic variegation instead of environmentally caused variegation. Like, I thought the golden pothos was more like the Pink princess, where the variegation came from whatever the cells are in the stem. I didn't realise Golden Pothos could purposely change it's variegation.

  • @Inverts4Introverts

    Im betting if you drilled small holes in the grooves it would hold more water. Just dont drill all the way through the planks and it will creat small cups. Especially if you drilled downward at a 45° angle. And it would give the roots more to hold on to.
