I don't take an issue with this game being labeled kusoge, I take issue with it being labeled the FIRST kusoge based on the other 77 videos I've seen in this series :D
I find myself kinda liking some of the more harmless kusoge games on the Famicom, like even though I know I could be playing much better things like Batman or Ninja Ryuukenden or something like that for the hundredth time, it’s fun to experience some piddly little kinda-garbage games every so often :)
japanese retro gaming twitter loves making fun of this game. It's a game they love to hate. I personally find it mostly charmless, except for that adorable label art.
While I missed out on all that the era had to offer, I'm glad I didn't have to deal with buying this for $57, (almost forgot renting games in Japan wasn't a thing) bringing it home excited to play just to find out it sucks. As a kid I could MAYBE get like 6-7 games a year at that price. You must have had to share a lot or visit friends with different collections. No internet meant that you were going into every purchase blind unless you had word of mouth/magazine reviews of it's quality
I've heard of this one, but never actually played it. apparently they made a multi-player modern day remake for whatever reason... so now everyone can suffer, haha.
I found this game on the street most likely because it was such a クソゲー that the original owner threw it out on the street. I picked it up and tried to play it but I had no idea what the objective was. Obviously I didn't go very far and gave it the same evaluation as the original owner.

Gotta say that neighboring kid was pretty talented.
Today is this game’s 37th Birthday… since today is November 28th 2022.

They made a pretty decent sequel last year called Ikki Unite.
Wikipedia says that TOSE developed this one.

The arcade game is quite a bit better. There's a lot more levels, the screen scrolling is way better and there's a mini map for the coins.
I’d rather play Ikki than a quite a few games.
