All idols, barring minors maybe, have had cosmetic procedures done to fit different beauty standards. I, like many others, like to believe that K-pop is based on talent or skill but it's been proven time and time again that looks are more important than all of that when it comes to entering the industry and staying in it

People praise a lot of kpop idols mainly for their beauty. If you think about other top-tier visuals like Irene, Tzuyu, Karina, Gidle's Shuhua/Miyeon/Minnie etc., none of them have cringy excessive facial expressions. Most of them have natural facial expressions or even "poker face" like Irene, Karina and f(x)'s Krystal. That works for them. Extremely beautiful people don't need tons of facial expressions (smiles, winks etc.) to elevate their beauty and stage presence. Their faces are breathtaking just the way they are. For someone as incredibly beautiful as Wonyoung, I do think it's best for her to tone down her facial expressions. I actually feel like she's not very confident about her appearance. I don't know. I've just never seen a kpop visual who tries so hard to look pretty, when she doesn't really have to.

I mean she joined the industry at 14. This whole industry is like a giant conveyer belt that mass produces these so called, "idols". 14 is still legally a child and a growing child at that. She is like this lump of clay ready to be moulded by those around her. That's exactly what happened. She was moulded to think that beauty is above everything else, even talent. That's why she focuses more on seeming "cute" and "approachable" to attract viewer's because that's what she was taught to do. This is exactly why I am against minors debuting or being involved in such toxic environments because it can lead to broken adulthood's or just a fragmented mindset. This is what Won-young has and I feel pity for her more than anything else. She doesn't look "natural" because she wants to be a "perfect doll" almost, a doll that makes no mistakes and always looks pretty. I feel so much sympathy for her because whether she is choosing to do this or not it's unhealthy, yet now that her life is in the spotlight and she has set herself out to be this "perfect person" it's going to be hard for her to back out. I agree that is overdoing the situation but I think she needs to take a break for herself and honestly focus more on her actual job as an idol, rather than living up to everyone's insanely high standards because to be completely fair she is pretty average in her singing and a little above average in her dance. I mean she joined the industry at 14. This whole industry is like a giant conveyer belt that mass produces these so called, "idols". 14 is still legally a child and a growing child at that. She is like this lump of clay ready to be moulded by those around her. That's exactly what happened. She was moulded to think that beauty is above everything else, even talent. That's why she focuses more on seeming "cute" and "approachable" to attract viewer's because that's what she was taught to do. This is exactly why I am against minors debuting or being involved in such toxic environments because it can lead to broken adulthood's or just a fragmented mindset. This is what Won-young has and I feel pity for her more than anything else. She doesn't look "natural" because she wants to be a "perfect doll" almost, a doll that makes no mistakes and always looks pretty. I feel so much sympathy for her because whether she is choosing to do this or not it's unhealthy, yet now that her life is in the spotlight and she has set herself out to be this "perfect person" it's going to be hard for her to back out. I agree that is overdoing the situation but I think she needs to take a break for herself and honestly focus more on her actual job as an idol, rather than living up to everyone's insanely high standards because to be completely fair she is pretty average in her singing and a little above average in her dance. I think going on a hiatus or changing her extreme persona will help her a lot. I mean no hate by this what so ever. All I feel is sorry for Won-young and I truly wish for her best because honestly that girl needs it.
