Just fair warning to anybody still making use of this guide: I've had numerous reports that I may have been quite lucky when transfiguring my own gems for the purpose of making this video, as others have reported that it took them 60 tries and no correct font. It seems the "Transform a non-Transfigured Skill Gem to be a random Transfigured version" is likely weighted much lower than I previously thought. Please be aware that it may take you a while if you decide to farm your gems this way!
What I'd like to know is, what are the average results of when people get a "random transfigured version of a non-transfigured gem"? Because I am 2-0 for getting the one I want. Granted that ain't nothing, but my curiosity has been sparked. Like, for example, is getting from Ice Nova the Ice Nova of Deep Freeze perhaps 4 times more likely than Ice Nova of Frostbolts? But yeah, 2 coin flips is not an indication of anything. I am just reminded of the alt-quality gems, and how, back then, using the currency that would turn a normal gem into one of its alternate variants would have weighted results, with some highly sought after versions being a 1 out of 10 chance to roll.
@@Oxxyjoe From the sounds of the rarity of the font option itself, that would be quite the project to undertake and would require far more lab than any sane person would ever run (but we all know how sane PoE players are).
@@DSJeezy word is, there exist people who group up in this game, and they could just start a shared document or somethin and tally it all up! but yeah I've run merciless lab probably 15 times in the last couple of days and only gotten that option 2 times

So it took me about 18-20 lab runs to get "turn a gem into one of its transfigured versions" 3 times, and, it got me the right gem on the 3rd try. so could be a 50/50, or it could be a 1/3 odds, or it could actually be anything but anyway just here to celebrate Finally. If this was in the gauntlet I would not be winning Lol

27 random transfigured gems later through the merc lab and I still haven’t got the option for a specific transfiguration. This is the first thing I’ve come across so far that I find worth considering whether the game is worth the time investment

Also I'd definitely want to make sure you're aware of the official trade site for checking if your desired gem is available for a few chaos. At this point in the league some of them are easier to just purchase: www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Settlers Coming from somebody who has over 6000 hours in the game it's certainly worth the investment (I'm obviously a bit biased) but long dry stretches of bad rng really are a core part of the game, as are very concentrated lucky streaks!
@@DSJeezy just an update but it took me 67 merc runs to get the two transfigured gems i needed and both came from random rolls. Never did see the option to transfigure a specific gem. And thanks for the advice on the trade site. I find it also to be a great source for new players to get a feel of what is and is not a good item. Still super confusing on some items but overall a great resource. Sub'd

So I have been running merciless labs and uberr labs trying to get a ice nova of frostbolts, i did get the Ice Nova of Dep freeze off an Ubver lab fone. Expensive a 2C/run. Have run ~10 merciless with no transfigured option yet. Are their odds for getting the transfigured gem of the same type from the merciless lab?
Sorry to say I was unable to find odds anywhere regarding the spawn chance of the deterministic gem mod. It took me two tries before league start and three tries on day 2 of league. I may have been lucky as others have reported it taking them 20 or more. I do hope your luck changes!

"I don't want to run lab 10 times" I started in hardcore last season, and it took me 17 merc labs to hit my second forced trans, because the first hit the wrong Ice Nova. I died in white maps to a lag spike. I went to softcore, and it took me 6 more to get it. I really hope all my bad luck stays in that league.
@@DSJeezy Oh boy do I have a story for you. 5th merc lab, I hit the force. 50/50? Nope, I got a discord messge, got distracted, and clicked the first option. Stunned silence for about 15 seconds. 8 runs later, I hit my Ice Nova on the random 3 of a Twice Blessed Darkshrine. The next lab I did was Uber Lab with a friend, and it gave me the force and hit the 50/50 on the extra ice nova I had in my weapon swap, for a nice 80c to start my day 3 :). Such a rollercoaster of lab emotions.
Thanks for the vid. Just tried POE last week. Im trying to get "elemental hit of the spectrum" in the cruel labyrinth but no luck. Is it only available at the merciless labyrinth? Or i just have to repeat farming the first/second labyrinth until it shows? Thanks
Hi and you're welcome! If you are okay with spamming the "Transform a Skill Gem to be a random Transfigured Gem of the same colour" then Cruel is okay and that lab is definitely faster to run. However, the more deterministic "Transform a non-Transfigured Skill Gem to be a random Transfigured version" can only begin appearing in Merciless lab. In Merciless lab you will also always see the first option with only a chance to see the second so you can still run Merc to chip away at it via low random chance. Hope this helps!

I got really lucky and got it in 2 tries in standard then in 3 tries in league but I've seen many people say upwards of 30 so mileage may vary. Good luck if you keep up trying!
@@mystoc3995 Each one gets mentioned by name as it appears. They are just all transfigured gems that I figured would either be in demand/easy to acquire via this method. That doesn’t mean they are the only ones, just the ones I could think of.
hf dude, hf, yesterday had to run 3hours of merc lab to get Ice Nova of Frostbolts.. in SSFHC. Time to die in first map and run 3hours of lab again. PS! It took me about 35-40 runs to get it
Well, I spend 4 hours in merc lab and got this mod ones(gave me the wrong version of ice nova), I and just got the gem from the regular mod same color random gem 😅 , moral of the story just run normal lab 😅😅😅

Has the mod pool been changed for merc lab? Or was my rng just terrible? I ran 27 merc labs yesterday and didn't see the transfigured version craft a single time. Yesterday had 4 dark shrines on the path so I even had Twice Blessed a good bit. I'm not too salty about it, because I ended up with over 50 other t-gems, and quite a few good ones too. Just wondering if maybe they changed when you see this craft or it's rarity maybe?
I'm unaware if they had changed the rarity but I have had others report the same thing. It could just be that you've been quite unlucky or that I was the lucky one as I managed to get it two separate times in two tries and three tries (once in Standard and once on the second day of the league).

just ran an enhanced offering to the goddess and had 10 divine font crafts and not a single one ended up being the gem I put in edit: whats worse is that all of these were attempts with the same gem so I got literally nothing out of the run
You're wrong about merciless labs. That mod does not show up 1 in every 2-3 runs. I did 30 runs. Saw the mod 1 time. I did 4 Uber runs and saw it 3 times, and I got my gem. Don't waste your time doing merciless. 15c is what it cost me.
It does seems to have high variance, yes. Many people do report the same as you so either I got lucky or they and you were very unlucky. There is no information about spawn rates of these mods on the wiki so either is possible. My runs were 2 attempts in standard and 3 attempts in league. I'm glad you got it by doing Uber lab but not everybody wants to wait until Uber lab to start playing their build, and 15c is a lot for many at league start!

Ice nova of frostbolts took me 62 lab runs ssf last league...
It sucks even more when you wanna use the Vaal skill too so you need a transfigured Vaal Cyclone of Tumolt
