Every time I want to give up on lower difficulties I watch stuff like this and it inspires me to try again, it's just that the final mission is soooooooooooo long it hurts to lose so close to the end.
Had my first attempt on this yesterday, man that harpy wave completely screwed me! Went in blind as I wanted to experience the map for myself and it was going pretty well too: 7k income, 250 soldiers, 25 thanatos... Then they overran me almost instantly. Was amazing to see how easily you dealt with it, lesson learned and I wont be expanding to the map edge quite so quickly next run!
played the map first time without knowing there is a harpy wave as well i already cleared the whole map (played on 200%) and build walls arround the edge of the whole map with shock tower and executer everywhere and got overrun in under 1 min
Finally just did the campaign on 800% (never tried a lower difficulty). I was not good enough for no pause play though, but I got it done. This last mission was one of the hardest for sure. I liked going in blind for the first attempt, then on the few maps I get crushed on, I watch what you did and see if I did anything different. On this map, literally getting to the first wave took me several tries. Way to easy to overpull that VoD south or the two mutants to the west with even just rangers! Once I got past that part it was just being consistent about it. Again, I would only watch your video up to the part I get crushed then try again. So once I could do the first wave consistently, I was able to make it to the harpy wave. Insta crush on that as well. Didn't expect it. Second time all it took was building 3 walls at a time and placing a lookout tower in front of my shocking towers with a few nearby units and the harpy wave was cake. Spitters wave and Giants wave nearly got me though. Lost my defenses on the side they came and half my units for each wave. This was with executioners, shock towers, snipers, soldiers, and titans with the vet wonder. Those two waves still almost got me. Mutant wave wasn't that bad at least. Barely got defenses up again for final wave. Since those waves after the harpy wave take like 4 days to finish, there isn't much time between waves to rebuild back to where I was before let alone go beyond much. Still was nice watching your vids as they helped me a bit. Of course I am playing a few years later and there have been tweaks and more nerfs since you last played which might be making things harder. In the end I took about roughly 6 tries to beat the final map I think.
Just want to say thank you! I played this game last year but I just couldn't beat the goddess... My tech tree wasn't that nice, I didn't even have any monument. I played this game again recently and got the monuments but still I couldn't beat it. I began wondering what I was doing wrong, then I saw your videos and watched how you did it. I favored strong defenses on the chokepoints like you did, instead of trying to wall up the whole map with a thin layer of defense in my previous runs. It still took me three tries but finally... VICTORY!! The music on the last wave made it more epic and satisfying... thanks again! You are indeed the empire's hero. o7
great work on the series man, wish u had shown ur tech tree in between videos cuz they play a good part of the early stages, for ppl to know what does what, but u helped me a lot :)
On such a labyrinth of a map + random huge swarms especially full of harpies, for map control building Silent Beholder as early as possible would have been legit.
"I was rather dissappionted" You said, I was accually thinking this map was very well made, and cool. Alot of Zombies equal slow start and slow snowball and that's why Better or stronger zombies are not as effective to slow down ones start, if you can kite
Bit of a rant here, but I feel the biggest flaw in TaB is the way they artificially inflate the difficulty of the maps by simply increasing the amount of enemies and how active they are while also forcing you to start the maps with the same startup everytime. Other rts's typically mixed up what you started with units and even buildingwise. But here it's the same thing everytime, unless you've invested in the extra ranger, soldier or sniper tech. I've suggested a few times on the steam forums that the game should allow a reinforcements option if there're nearby colonies before a map loads (like the old DUNE game), or something similar to the artillery tech that gives you a free turret every time the train comes in. Would probably make them get more creative on how to increase the difficulty of maps.
I feel that's entirely fine. My gripe, however, is the roguelike/ironman gameplay style. I get playing like that but how am I supposed to learn when I have to completely redo a mission because I made one simple mistake? Just seems silly to not have the option to NOT play in ironman mode...
Tbh the games DED eZy if you just advance the tech tree right! Sadly like a lot of other things, this game does a jackshit job of telling you anything that would aid in your gameplay. Infact I actually had to return and start the game again once I learned how useful that option in tech tree was that brings you supplies with every train run.
First attempt on this two days ago, I've been posting my progress on reddit. I got absolutely leveled by the harpy waves twice. Haven't made it back since...and I'm only playing on 50% LOL! Did you ever do a video with your tech tree? I really wish I could do some choices over. Picked up some things I did not need during my 18 lowlands fails. hahah
Now I've reached the final level, and I didn't unlock Executors because it says their range is 0.6 cells which is basically melee range. I thought they would be some kind of chain saw trap turret, but clearly they are badass machine gun turrets with a decent range... why has the game deceived me?
If you have the pashionts and time and the giants dont rush you 50 snipers are exelant especially when there veterans they will drop the entire map for you and you will almost not need another unit
I cannot do this, even on normal 100% difficulty....... I already tried 2x. 1st time: died on the harpy wave. Expanded too much to map edge, had long walls, and not few choke points. 2nd time: died on the harpy wave as well. Used choke points, around the same spots that you used. I had wasps + ballistas at my outer walls. Had 6 Titans, and maybe 100 soldiers close to the border they came from. Still they climbed all walls like shit, infected so many nearby buildings, I had so many normal zombies in my city. I then could even kill all harpies, but normal zombies were already close to my town center. Didn't see them - dead. Any ideas?
3 layers of walls, then a layer of wasps then 3 layers of walls. Harpies jump into wasps and can't get out. Use snipers, soldiers in towers, executors or titans to kill them. On 300% this works like a dream
This level is 500 times harder than any other level in the game. Having 3 days between waves killed me. I would barely survive one wave then no time too expand its the next wave!!! Bullshit lol. Impressive on 800 I couldnt do it on 300
It's interesting people who play a different tech tree. I always have the wasp delivery, it's just so much quicker to set up a defense rather than having your soldiers wait around. But hey, I'm impressed!
Aw man, if Clash of Clans is your reference point you should look up more real time strategy games. There are so many great games that make Clash look terrible in comparison. I am a big fan of StarCraft myself just because I love scifi and games that have a storyline to them.
@@maskedbadass6802 Yeah I admit that CoC was a bad comparison. I was actually looking for gameplay since it was for sale last time and actually bought it. WAYYY better and having fun with it now.
I've seen several videos of this wave, and it seems common to put the warehouse down at the start, next to the command centre. What's the reason for this?
just a thought, if u split ur soldiers thinly it will take less soldier to clear the same place? cuz i see lots soldier in the bakline afk when they clear.
Late but its the attack move behavior. First dude gets into range, stops and starts shooting. Everyone else behind him is out of range until the zs start coming towards your lines. Splitting into many smaller squads kind of fixes it more than like 4 troops piling up in one spot is just plain bad tho
This map is pure luck where the harpy wave spawns. If it spawns where u are prepared for its winnable. But to have all entrys secure at this point is not possible i think. Lost many times already because i lost coinflips on where the wave spawned. For example. if the harpy wave in this video spawned West it would have been over... I like that the map is hard. but why make it rng also. thats bs
I really gave up on this game.. I can't get past the day of the harpys.... they destroy my base in seconds, even with many soldiers, snipers, etc. Honestly, it's discouraging to play for hours and in 10 seconds your game goes to waste...
Congrats Kensei, and first attempt at 800% as well! Now they will have to release a 1000% mode for you :)
Thank you, I'm sure 29 years later will have a Kensei mode ;-)

Knowing the harpy wave will happen is a big help so you can have units nearby and prepare defenses. Good Luck with the next run!
played the map first time without knowing there is a harpy wave as well i already cleared the whole map (played on 200%) and build walls arround the edge of the whole map with shock tower and executer everywhere and got overrun in under 1 min

Even with a non ideal tech tree it is possible since you should have a lot of techs anyway. Obviously it does help.

you're telling me that I beat this shit without knowing how op shocking towers are and that you can place gates on the tracks... LOL
