this game is sick
So, heres the problem with flamethrowers: you have a range of exactly less than the distance an on fire bug can jump and kill someone before they die from being burned alive. So you essentially can't use flamethrowers against bugs. They are only really useful in relatively confined areas, and only against people who typically won't kill you after they have been set on fire.
Incidently, ballistic weaponry is exactly what you want against things with exoskeletons, as they have enough penetrative power to get through the liter layer, but will then stop inside them, releasing all there energy and doing massive internal damage, which is exactly what you want. Fire is also very effective, but like i said, range is a big issue.

That is what normally leads to their downfall as there aren’t enough people to reinforce their lines.
