The Antikithera mecanism is a real artifact, found in the Mediterranean sea early 20th century, close to the city of Antikithera, hence its name. It's a 2 thousands+ years old analog computer designed to calculate moon phases, eclipses and known planets positions. Have fun everyone 🖖
12:54 ... loving the supermarket carpark driving skills 😉 lol .. great looking game, I fully agree with your reply re the graphics, etc. Personally, I feel for the style they're slick as!... Indie games rock! 😎
@@paulmason8986 Could you perhaps be thinking about Solar Winds? It's a game from 1993. I also distinctly remember playing it and this game seems to be borrowing heavily from that (in the best way possible).
Thanks for the video and well done! A piece of feedback however - I wasn't expecting a tutorial and walkthrough on how to play the game. A first look in my mind is someone's first time looking at a game and it's obviously not your first time. In any case keep up the good videos :)
"Neutronium" is a hypothetical material made of nothing but neutrons, like what we believe neutron stars are. Used in all sorts of sci fi, and likely completely impractical as a hull material (it would be so dense that even a ship-sized volume have it's own crushing gravity field, most likely.)
And the Antikythera thing is a real device they found in an ancient greek shipwreck, eventually figured out it was a mechanical calendar that would show the positions of the moon and known planets or some such.
It reminds me of Endless Sky on Steam. Endless Sky is a 2d game with an economy and a few hints as to what the end game is. It is fun and free on Steam!!!!!
How can you tell that only the last one has been promoted? I go back and forth and see no difference. What I see is that the points you have can be freely spent on everyone in the crew. Nice game by the way!
Had a question. First off, this game ticks so many boxes and I'd be very keen to pick this up. Is the game procedurally generated? Or are all the planets and events static in line with the story? Excited to watch this series
Pretty sure things are not procedural, or at the very least, not the starting areas (as they are the same with each start I’ve done in the past so far.
Gonna be a while, as I’m away from home for 5 days. I honestly didn’t think it would be as liked as it is. Pretty cool, but I didn’t prepare for an ep 2 ahead of time. ;)
know anyone who plays this game with a controller? trying to find some video etc. with controller. I'm disabled and controller works great for me, but keyboard and mouse is very difficult and painful after a short while. thanks!
I don't get it, we spend thousands on all the new technology that's available these days, and the games market is totally flooded with stuff that looks like stuff we played twenty five years ago.
Indie devs don’t have the resources for huge realistic 3d visuals. They excel by having sharp, polished visuals that they can do, but putting immense time and effort into the gameplay mechanics and stories that can be experienced from them. Some of the best story generation games ever made are games just like this. Rimworld, for example, is the gold standard in gameplay and replayability when it comes to telling a survival story. There are games like Oxygen Not Included, with really intricate systems that all work together with significant depth, but it’s 2d. Don’t immediately dismiss a game on looks. I think you’ll find that lots of really beautifully stunning games lack deep gameplay that can sustain most people, while some incredible experiences are possible with games that look like this. It’s all about budget, and prioritization.
@jontaylor1652 it's deceptive. This game I've been playing for over a year and it looks amazing. Games from the era you describe wish they looked a fraction as good as this game. And talk about how smoothly it runs. Ubisoft could take a few lessons.
It's not all about graphics. The game play and story is what matters. Don't get me wrong I enjoy beautiful games but so many suffer because the spend so much time and money on making it look good. That makes game play and story suffer. Many of these indie games using older graphics (many making it basically art) focus instead on engaging well made mechanics and deep story.
@@jontaylor1652 I mean saying this game or others like it look like what we played over 2 decades ago is just disingenuous to begin with. But graphics are also one of the LEAST important things in a game anyway. I'd rather play a game that actually does look 25 years old but is fun than an overly beautified game that's less than 10 hours long and feels more like a long movie than an actual game.
I was really interested in this game and maybe even trying out the previous one in the series first. I read a negative review that said the game had level scaling. So that guy at 1:00:35 will be even tougher later on if that information is accurate. I wonder if that means the ship will look bulkier than it does now or if the negative review was just wrong.

Lots of you guys seem to enjoy this one, so I’ll play some more! New video is up, and playlist is made!

This reference will definitely date me, but the Star Control 2 vibes are strong with this one!

I have seen this exact intro before.... I'm 67, been gaming since before the internet. I can't rem what game it was, but, I've seen this before.

Loved the video, this game has me wanting more. I need to explore, and solve the mystery of the attacking ship. Did I mention revenge
I like this reminds me of the space games i played back in the mid 80"s
Starflight and Star Control probably, me too!
Such a great little gem of a game, It reminds me so much of Voyager (Star Trek Series)
I was thinking the same thing!
Thanks for the gameplay. I'd like to see more of this game.
Love how this started out, cannot wait to watch the rest!
Would like to see more videos of the game. Probably new series for it.
Very good first impression charlie. I'd enjoy seeing some more of this.
Would definitely like to see more.

Nice game by the way!
Fire in space, i mean common :D
Good game and pressing "G" auto fires at enemies for you so you dont need to use the cursor.
I have fun firing though. ;)
Reminds me of a game I played decades ago called EV Nova
it also seems like a direct copy after SPAZ
I would like to see a bit more.... I feel a little invested
Why are you only introducing me to this game now? I needed to know about this a year ago!
Loved this game, gets a lil confusing once you have a lot of missions. Would be great if we could click on mission and it takes you to system.
Saw this played by someone else (as a first look) and it looks amazing. I'd love to see a fuller Let's Play on it.
I’ll think about it. ;)

1990s hit is alive! Wooow!
Great game best RUclipsr i love it keep going 👏 😎
so is this just a upgrade on starcom nexus? (as the story is very close if not the same)
Very interesting game, cant wait for the next episode. Keep up the good work

That looks awesome!
Stargate vise here. I like to see more of this game
I’ll probably get a stream going later this month
Wait a minuuuuute
The Fixed Guns mean you can just be a broadsider.
*MOAR!*
Well that was fun.
Thanks so much for posting this. It is the type of content i enjoy most, and i hope you got at least that much from making it
Was kind of hoping this was part of the 80s starcom universe. Oh well

It's like SPAZ2 if it wasn't shit 😊
Kind of hoping for a better Drox Operative, but this looks like an aweful lot of reading
Definitely a bit of reading, but worth it

Games are getting worse, this is an 8 bit copy of so many old games, no originality. I'd get it if they sold the digital copies for $5 or less.
gonna be a hater here.. I dont want to see your chat alerts during a video..
There are no chat alerts, because there is no live chat, because this isn’t live
