Getting invincibility in Goldeneye was one of my proudest gaming achievements. Some honorable mentions: - Breaking Titanfall 2 record in the beginning of the game; - GTA vice city toy helicopter mission; - Driver 1 tutorial; - getting a girlfriend
The Vice City mission is insane with the default controls. But once you change your controls sheme, it becomes relatively manageable. Annoying, yet doable.
I remember being 14 and literally being so stressed out because I wasnt great at saving my game, but I was stuck in blackreach trying to do the quest for like 3 days trying to find my way out/everytime I found the exit I realized I needed more nirnroot so I hated life. Final Fantasy IX has 3 candidates for this depending on how you quibble over definition of side quests. 1. Excalibur II - The not hinted at full game absurd time limit quest. 2. Card Game Max Rank 3. Nero Brothers Quest (mostly for how long it was entirely unknown). Also, cool that you mentioned Braid - but that deserved to be on the list for sure.
It's amazing to me how many people didn't know about the Nero brothers quest. I knew about its existence not too long after the game was originally released
I got so frustrated by it that I actually bought some electronics and built a machine to do it for me with a light sensor, a motor and a solenoid + some technic Lego parts.

Ironically, Yugi also cheats. Though I really don't think he _knows_ he cheats. One of the abilities of the Millennium Puzzle is Minor Probability Manipulation, meaning he can increase the odds of drawing the card he needs at any given moment. However, he doesn't know about this ability, and simply chalks it up to "The Heart of the Cards"...
@@malcomhoover6329 yeah, that’s another frustrating one. I’d do lighting dodge everyday for a year than do that again. I’ve done it 3 times. That’s enough.

Everyone's mentioning this and tidus' but honestly kimahris is just as bad, catching the stupid butterflies in a time limit. And then there's the hours of blitzball for wakkas overdrives, it wasn't hard, but it sucked
@@shakeysugar4382 yeah no i agree. i think the minigames in FFX were pretty hard overall. like trying to get Jecht Shot for Tidus on the boat always bothered me, especially if you want it the first try for the initial tournament cause it helps you win. i think for me the butterfly was the third hardest, second was the chocobo dash training and first was the lightning
I've seen so many people talk about dodging the 200 lightning bolts in the comments section of just about every video that talks about annoying mini games and/or side quests...but I never see anyone ever talk about jumping rope 1000 times in final fantasy 9. I also rarely see the queen of cards side quest in Final Fantasy 8 get talked about
One of the ones for me was to dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row without leaving the area in ffx to get the Saturn sigle for lulu's ultimate weapon. I did it one time it took forever and I broke a controller while doing so. It was soooo hard. And u can make a better weapon for her at this point. But u won't get break damage limit for ixion.

While easy as can be with a guide, I can't imagine how painful the Frogs of Legend sidequest from Final Fantasy XV must be without one. There are five, normal-sized frogs hidden all over the open-world map. You are told only that they are near bodies of water, of which there are plenty in FFXV. The only clue you get to one being near is a distinct ribbit sound effect. You have to be quite close to hear it.
Glad you included that assault course from Unity. A lot of the free running sequences in the series can be annoying, but at least there is usually some logic to the route and your destination. That course just seems completely random though with no flow to it what so ever. Never got close to beating the time.
I didn't mind the crimson nirnroot quest in Skyrim. It was the quest that brought me to Blackreach in the first place. My mind was so busy being blown by this giant underground city that had been sleeping beneath the surface unbeknownst to me for my first 40 hours of the game, I didn't mind the fetch quest that compelled me to explore it.
I sure do. I'm just waiting for my most anticipated games to come out at this point. (Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate III, Bannerlord, Silksong, Starfield, Skywalker Saga, etc)
In the game Elite Dangerous, there’s a wide variety of missions to do depending on how you want to play (it’s an MMORPG, after all). You can do dogfights, assassinations, be a pirate, be a miner, traveler, explorer, you can join a faction and do faction missions, you can be a taxi or vacation cruise ship; there’s a lot of options. For me, I was a trader and explorer. I picked up a mission to deliver some stuff to this one outpost, “no big deal” I thought at first… But there’s an outpost called Hutton Orbital that’s so far away from the star in its system that you have to travel in its direction at full throttle for an *hour and a half in real time*. I am not kidding. I literally just left the game running and went to do chores when I saw how slowly I was traveling toward the outpost… I came back and I still wasn’t anywhere near close to the outpost. And no, you can’t jump anywhere else in the system except right next to the star, and there’s also no fast traveling, so you’re forced to fly for an hour and a half just to reach Hutton Orbital. The neat thing about it is that there’s a very rare souvenir and another item you can only get at that outpost called the Hutton Mug. And once you’re there, you can jump out of the system immediately so you only have to embark on the long haul once. But man… I was not mentally prepared for that. I almost wanted to give up but I had spent so much time flying I didn’t want to lose my progress lol
You forgot the absolute shit mini-game pirate attack. If you are in a fully loaded hauler maneuvering that thing is obnoxious as hell and a good chance of loosing. The main reason I stopped playing that game. Absolutely hated that mechanic.
@@mikebalentine I feel you. There's a lot of defensive options you can invest in, but it also depends on the amount of systems your ship can handle. It's not for everyone though, I've played less over the years
Hmm.. I don't remember the jump rope one from Mario Odyssey being that hard. I mean, yeah, I remember having to do it probably 10-15 times before passing it and thinking "Wow, that was a hassle", but certainly nothing that belongs on an impossible video game quest list. I never saw the volleyball one. I either just missed it or quit before that kingdom. The rest of these tough, I definitely agree with.
**thumbs up** I had to replay that mission SO MANY TIMES. the guy working electronics at wal-mart hated my guts for how long i would spend there. lol (i'm not kidding either, i never owned the game, but the n64 display at wal-mart always had full games, not demos, so i got to play all of goldeneye, turok 2, star fox 64, STar Wars episode one racer, donkey kong 64, super mario 64, and banjo kazooie before i ever owned any of them.)
I actually enjoyed the crimson nirn quest because I love Blackreach so much. It really has a mysterious, gloomy athmosphere with all these luminescent shrooms. I agree with the Odyseey moons, they sucked and I had to actually cheese my way through the volleyball-challenge using 2player mode
100 feathers was chump change. Pretty easy. And they at least show up on the map plus you can buy a map to find them all. The damn flags though... king Richards were the worst as there really is no reliable guide to find them all. Plus in total, the first AC had 420 flags across all regions.
First time I did it, following a guide, I wound up with 99, and didn't have a clue which one I'd missed. So I went and visited every location AGAIN just to find the missing one, and I shit you not, the one I missed was literally the LAST ONE possible on my recheck. If Ubisoft devs had gotten what I wished on them at that point, that company would have ceased to exist...
Screw the flags I had maps where the flags were and gave up, because I picked up a flag and didn't scratch it off the map. Easily the worst part of all the AC games/collectathon games I've played.
Not a quest per se, but I immediately thought of the FFX "quest" to get the Venus Sigil, where you have to dodge 200 lightning strikes in a row in the Thunder Plains.

Hated that achievement because the game is so crazy dark in alot of crazy areas that involve chases you basically have to memorize the game and truly play blind in some of the chase scenes. Luckily the game was short , unlike Kurayami mode for Kidman dlc in evil within where even sections where there is light the game is filtered to make it pitch black
@@Yokonato I've finished the game and the dlc multiple times by now, but I've never touched both Akumu and Kurayami mode ever again. It's one of these things where you're like "Yeah ok, nice challenge, but I don't need it more than once"
I'm honestly surprised that the lightning dodging thing to get Lulu's ultimate weapon from FFX wasen't on there. Still to this day i've never completed that mission
Yes the FFIX requires a lot more patience because of sheer number. What makes the Mario one particularly hard is that Mario in odyssey does consecutive jumps at varying different speeds, so each button press is actually impossible to get a perfect rhythm in. Both were a nightmare. The only thing that saved the Mario one was that hopping on a scooter made it so every jump at least had precise consistent timing. Then the volleyball one took me longer than Vivi's jumprope ever has. Because he didn't mention... the volleys also speed up to absurd speeds, and you still have to move around the arena in that time rather than standing in one place.
I love these videos that falcon narrates because he just has a great personality when he talks. I could just listen to these videos with falcon speaking especially when I'm high
Not really a quest per se, but the level before the final boss fight in Ecco the Dolphin (the original Sega Genesis version) can make you want to die, like you will so many times while trying to navigate "Welcome to the Machine." If you beat that game (like I did only once,) I salute you.
I'm surprised that dodging 200 lightening strikes IN A ROW from Final Fantasy X wasn't on here. You were required to complete the challenge to receive Lulu's ultimate weapon. The lightening strikes would happen a random intervals and you had about half a second to react to it. You can imagine how hair-tearing-out insanely difficult trying to dodge a LITERAL SPLIT SECOND action at random points 200 times in a row can be. To top that off, in order for the lightening strike to proc, you had to be moving, meaning you couldn't just stand still and dodge over and over; you actually had to run around and explore. That doesn't seem like that much of a problem... unless you know anything about Final Fantasy and know that much like Pokémon, they have a random encounter system. Meaning to complete this challenge, you had to have near-instant reflexes to a dodge random attack 200 times in a row while randomly being attacked by enemies, some of which have the ability to one shot you with special attacks.
I do have FF X/X-2 HD on my switch (I’m in the beginning parts of FF X currently), but is this weapon really THAT worth it for lulu? Is it only in X and not X-2? how far into FF X (as in chapter number) do I have to dodge the lightning for lulu’s best weapon or this entirely optional? also, I’m just confused on why the pc version has cheats and the switch version doesn’t, which is also the same with FF XII TZA (I may be wrong on that)
also what about Borderlands 2 'Geary' quest where you have to walk (absolutely no fast-travel or teleporting) without dying, from the beginning of the game, all the way to the Eridium Blight at the end and give this Gear you get from Claptrap's fireplace to Geary who promptly jumps in the lava and reveals your so-so loot crates.
Those 2 particular Skyrim quests are EXACTLY what came to mind when I saw this video in my recommended list! The fact that you can't get rid of those stones made it even more irritating!
I hear this a lot, but honestly, I never had a problem with it. I played through that game several times and it was actually one of my favorite side quests.
Wouldn't collecting every single Pokémon be on this list, to do so you have to buy practically all of the games, the amount of Pokémon endlessly increases and your reward is having a complete poker decks, as far as I know.
The fact that Final Fantasy 8 is the number 1 spot made me sub. I remember back in highschool playing it every day after school for 9 months straight. I even had a guide book after failing to finish the game cos I wasn't prepared well enough. I didn't find the Queen of Cards as difficult as the hidden boss known as Ultima weapon. I managed to succeed with the Queen of Cards quite well but I never was able to defeat Ultima Weapon. No matter how hard I tried.
That game totally changed my perception to the point where I was looking forward to getting "nothing" and if I found an actual item I was disappointed.
You have to add in the nest video:lulu's and tidus's and wakkas's ultimate weapons in the next episode, getting them is easy but the tricky part is upgrading them, lulu's ultimate weapon requires you to dodge 300 lightning bolts consecutively!!!
The daunting trial of killing Yiazmat in Final Fantasy XII, before the times 2 and 4 speed multiplier existed, and of course making the Tournesol (even with a guide it is utter pain)
I've done both during a childhood summer vacation as well as making the other ultimate weapons. Many nightmares bout that but man did it feel satisfying by the end.
Never had a problem with queen of cards when I was in middle school, other than the random rule that can be worked around. Shouldn't be this high on the list
I completed FF8 i think around 9-10 times, did that Quest 2x. It was pretty hard, but i think there was some trick how to do it easy...but yeah some loading was needed..
The worst part about No Stone Unturned imo is that, since the stones are flagged as a quest item, they can't leave your inventory. You end up with several units of weight being taken up by these stupid stones, making it easier for you to become over encumbered which really blows when you're looting dungeons and have to abandon good stuff because you HAVE to carry these useless rocks until you finish the quest
oh yeah, i got all of them up to Tifa and for her challenge i gave up, which sucks cause i think there's a trophy attached to them, but it was just so frustrating
I loved FFVIII. Triple Triad was a fun in-game game too. I had a greay collection of all the top people cards, but I'm sure to get a couple certain rare top level cards you had to permanently get rid of some cards to gain others
Oh I remembered the hustle back then. Worst was that one time I once did it to the final scene and then shot the hostage. Got the achievement in the end though.
Honestly, quests in both Runescapes are amazing, getting my quest cape in OSRS was the best rush, knowing that I accomplished something that took time and effort and wasn't just a grind one thing for 300 hours like 99 grinds are (Fuck agility and RC) and the quests actually offer some challenge and risk, DS2 and MM2 were some of my favorite gaming objectives of all time, in RS3 the "Desperate" quest series was fantastic, and saying that as someone who doesn't really enjoy RS3, but the entire quest, from start to finish was great story telling followed by a narrative that made you feel awesome. I think that's what's missing in all of the quests listed here, they lack soul and story, it's just mindless "do this" "do that".

Final Fantasy IX has 3 candidates for this depending on how you quibble over definition of side quests.
1. Excalibur II - The not hinted at full game absurd time limit quest.
2. Card Game Max Rank
3. Nero Brothers Quest (mostly for how long it was entirely unknown).
Also, cool that you mentioned Braid - but that deserved to be on the list for sure.

I've seen so many people talk about dodging the 200 lightning bolts in the comments section of just about every video that talks about annoying mini games and/or side quests...but I never see anyone ever talk about jumping rope 1000 times in final fantasy 9.

Once upon a time, I actually finished Queen of Cards. I must have had a helluva lotta time on my hands.
I picked up a mission to deliver some stuff to this one outpost, “no big deal” I thought at first…
But there’s an outpost called Hutton Orbital that’s so far away from the star in its system that you have to travel in its direction at full throttle for an *hour and a half in real time*.

Thumbs up if you also unlocked "Invincibility" in Goldeneye. Was so proud of getting that back in the day.

Not as bad as the flags in the original Assassin’s Creed
Yeah the flags where worse

Rope jumping in Mario is hard:
FFIX: exists
Glad someone said it.

@@drewbles22 I feel ya, my first playthrough i didn't even know about the celestial weapons, I thought Tidus' weapon was junk lol
Is it only in X and not X-2? how far into FF X (as in chapter number) do I have to dodge the lightning for lulu’s best weapon or this entirely optional? also, I’m just confused on why the pc version has cheats and the switch version doesn’t, which is also the same with FF XII TZA (I may be wrong on that)
This.

@@KillerjerickI agree. However I have 3 word for you.. one small favour
@@niceguy6969 Ehhh, MEPT2 beats that one in annoyance factor, as does SOTE, but apart from those three, I can't think of another quest that made me want to rage quit, at least they were still rewarding to complete.
@@Killerjerick what about Rag and bone man pt1 and 2
Shadow of the Colossus, 79 pieces of enlightenment. Impossible without a guide.
GTA Vice City - demolition man. That RC plane is simply impossible to control, and the constant restarts just when you think you'll finish "this time" only leads to more frustration...
Apparently Falcon has never heard of using a silencer when shooting a gun in public on GTA so to not alert the police.
Happy they sped up Falcon’s voice. The vocal fry is not as rough
