Nokia 1.3 | Unboxing & Full Tour | Android Go, Sub-£100

  • Unboxing the Nokia 1.3, one of your best smartphone options for under £100 in 2020. Here's a full tour of the camera tech, specs, Android Go software and other bits of the Nokia 1.3 so you know what to expect if you grab yourself one.
This is an incredibly cheap mobile boasting full smart functionality, for just £79 in the UK. You get the streamlined Go version of Android 10, complete with the Google Camera Go and other apps, and these generally run fine on this HMD handset. Of course, performance is limited, but you can happily stream media on RUclips and Netflix and play with apps downloaded from Google Play.
The 8MP rear camera is basic at best but will do the job for simple shareable shots, as will the 5MP selfie shooter. You should easily get all-day battery life too, with a 3000mAh removable cell on board. The Nokia 3.1 also offers up expandable storage, and a 720p screen for enjoying video streaming, web browsing etc.
So if you're looking for a seriously budget-friendly smartphone under £100, this is a respectable choice. Check out my affordable mobiles round-ups for more ideas!

@Mj23 it can be , if the company makes such , but again the brand wants you to re new or buy new phone every 2-3 years , it's a loop after 3 years your batters will definitely reduce from 100% to 60% henceforth people will have no option but buy new phones

    • @MJ-uk6lu
      @MJ-uk6lu 4 года назад +7

@@vinayaknawadia6585 They don't degrade that badly that fast. It will be 60% as good more like 6 years after purchase and that that point phone will be nearly unusable due to awful performance, apps will be even bigger, so tiny storage will be even more annoying and it will be somewhat beat up and worn out, so there really isn't a point for removable battery in such low end device, which most users will replace after 4 years.

I am glad that some manufacturers actually stick to what they are really good at and not do something risky that would literally end them. In this case, it's Nokia being faithful with their low-range smartphones, not trying to expand to other teritories that other tech giants have well established their dominance.
This phone is pretty good for a secondary handset, or can be very useful for youngsters and the elderly. There are just something I would like to share:
    - The removable back/battery. Yep, I can live with that, not a problem at all. But I think Nokia should add a button/buckle for easy opening so that you don't have to hurt your finger (nail).
    - The size should be smaller (Secondary phone => should be able to fit every pockets). Eventhough the screen size is 5.71" small, the screen-to-body ratio is lower than other phones, meaning the body is still large with thick bezel and chin.
    - The speaker position is terrible. It fires sound in the opposite direction, so you won't get the best out of that. Old design, that's what it is.
    - Micro-USB charging port. Well... I don't know.
At the end of the day, it's still a cheap phone. I guess I can't have everything. But I can wish ;)

I'm planning on buying my mum (50y/o)her first ' smart phone' - this phone looks like it ticks most of the boxes. Especially the simplified android OS. She would literally just use it as a phone, WhatsApp and a camera occasionally. So this looks ideal! I presume its a glass screen? not a plastic one?

good phone with plenty of features, good size, but only when it worked and mine was not reliable - then you start thinking that memory is too small, cpu is slow, battery is ok because you can replace it, but won't last too long - also Nokia is from Finland, but inside it says Made in China - so great if it changes to reliable phone with more memory, I gave Nokia one more chance with G100, it works for the last 2 days :)

I own a Nokia 1 plus and am using a Nokia 2.1 and I must say Android go and Nokia? That's a no no. Give it to your kid only when you are sure that they are not going to download anything, at all otherwise do not punish those little ones. You are complaining about RUclips go, but of course, if you want a better RUclips experience like the save option you have to download another RUclips app nevertheless here is the kicker thou mustn't dare save any videos lest you run out of memory in a month. I say save some money and just buy something else. And am supposed to be a Nokia fan, anyway am keeping my fingers crossed for either the 4.3 or the 6.3 before I buy a Chinese handset, man life is hard Android go makes me miss windows mobile it was way simpler

Nokia tells me it's google and my operator pushes updates, operator and google tell me it's Nokia. And I'm stuck with 8.1 forever... So yes- you will be fully up to date until the time where Nokia tell you.. it's google and your operator that are to blame for the fact that you're not "up to date"...

Anyway - just wanted to warn people that what Nokia is saying can change next day and you'll be stuck with ancient OS

Better off buying the Nokia 2.2 2g/16g selling at ££79 online you get an extra gig of memory and it updates to Android 10 (full version)d you also get the same two years of updates. I have a Nokia 2.2 that lives in my tech bag I just use to provide internet on the go for my laptop and tablet to save my main phone's battery. The 4.2 is now £119 3g/32g and with the 5.3 on the Nokia site at £149 4g/64g the 4.2 is bound to slip closer to the £100 price bracket.
So many Nokia models on the market now competing with themselves, Nokia needs to have a cull of old models for the range to make any sense.

Honestly I'd like a Go edition on a higher specced phones. Really, Play Services has become unneceesarily big and Go edition proves how much codes are bloating the image size. imo this could survive with light apps, although expanding the internal storage with SD card should let people to stuff with lightweight classic games
also can you dump those go apks? afaik no one has uploaded camera go and gallery go.

I have this phone and I'm confused because I have plenty of storage but when I download my music it will delete it a few weeks later with no warning and it's not the app I use because I've checked so if anyone knows what is going on please tell me how to fix it because I can't find any ways to fix it so far.

So one thing you did not comment on is does the Nokia 1.3 have its own GPS chip or does it rely on position info being sent through form the mobile network your attached to (A-GPS). This makes a difference if you want to use apps which need a GPS signal but you may be out of range of a network

Ever since I bought it, pictures I take with the cameraGO disappears after 2-3days. I can save screenshot, images from Facebook, twitter and Instagram, as well videos but once I take a photo with this phone it automatically disappears after 2days. There are cases the next day I won't find the pictures in my phone. What do I do???
